Leaked AC Unity gameplay videos up in the wild (edit: re-uploaded)

Crossing Eden

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
Oh sorry you misunderstood me. It looks to good to be on any console. I am not bashing the xbox one or the ps4 here. I am saying that ubisoft is clearly marketing PC footage as console footage.
Broll footage doesn't look as good as the gamescom or e3 demo, It's definitely doesn't look too much for the consoles to handle either, and looks very much in line with the ps4 footage.

Creaking

He touched the black heart of a mod
Did anyone else think the on-ground running footstep sound was kind of repetitive? Seems like they should have more variations for such a common sound.

Looks nice, but shit, I hate the UI. It's so disruptive. I wish they picked some colors that would fade in a little better.

That pop-in is really awful, no question.
it's something i've complained about since the early gameplay videos, hoping they would fix it for release.
Guess not.

Grab it while you can. The dude runs around and causes some trouble. Scale is nice.

Recorded with the share function on PS4 I believe, so don't expect amazing quality.

Yeah it looks nice in motion. The problem though is that it also looks like the same old Assassins Creed they've been spitting out the past few years. I'm just bored of it, and hoped that they'd change it up a bit more this time around.

The footage is quiet impressive but it made me think.. Hey Ubi, what if for exemple, you had.. i don't know, 50 people instead of 50,000 in the street and the game ran without atrocious display problems ? Wouldn't it be more impressive ?

It feels that they had some bet they wanted to honor or something. What does that bring in the end, beside destroying the performance ?

Why the fuck haven't they animated the hay in the cart when you dive into it from 500 feet in the air?

Otherwise looks pretty good on, on my phone at least.

Ubisoft has weird priorities and a very poor sense of what kinds of things are fun when it comes to the AC series.

Also making those NPCs persistent, with names, jobs and schedules. 50000 traffic cones that vanish when you move around the corner.... or move 3 metres away ... just doesn't cut it for me.

I guess this is what fans of the series want, but I would love it if somebody with the resources of Ubisoft was building more interesting worlds.

I don't know, imagine the French Revolution on those giant streets with only 50 People. That would look very empty and everyone would ask "where are the People ? ".

The main character animation isn't getting enough praise. It's the best I've ever seen, a step above Naughty Dog and Rockstar's products (so far). So much variety and detail, so fluid.

Maybe Watch Dogs 2 will expand even more on the npcs having names, jobs and hobbies. I think the idea is more suited for that series. Compared to achieving what the original idea for blending in was since the first CGI trailer.

I really love the animations of the main character - those are great, and I think the city itself looks very nice. I'm not a fan of all the NPCs though - I'm not even that impressed with the numbers because of all the pop-in (as people have already said). I don't know if it was just this video, but it looked like the framerate dropped while he was fighting those guards in front of that huge crowd. I would have gladly taken FAR less NPCs in the city and have a more stable and better looking game. A lot of NPCs really means nothing to me.

Xbox One version, I assure you.

If I am wrong, I am wrong. I have no problem with changing my opinion based on new facts. In the case this really is console footage I'll feel stupid and admit that I was wrong. But, as I already mentioned, it's very hard to belive any kind of Ubisoft PR right now. At this point I need to see it with my own eyes or hear it from someone I know and trust.

Pop in is pretty noticeable, gotta agree.

Everything aside from that though? Great. This is actually an Ubisoft release which doesn't seem very downgraded.

It doesn't have to be literally only 50 people but they could cut out 33% of the crowd and it would still look like a big ass crowd. It's just a dumb thing they've been obsessed with from the beginning that really provides little value to gameplay. Sneaking through crowds and "social stealth" is interesting for like 5 minutes and then becomes a tedious burden.

Looks great to me. I can't wait to get my hands on this game on the 11th. The countdown on my PS4 continues to tease me.

In a few years, having some streets or locations bounded with dozens (or hundred or thousands) of (more intelligent) NPCs will be perfectly normal in most of open-world games. Ubisoft will obviously use the technology in the next AC and WD, but the next Rockstar games could also feature this kind of tech, maybe at a smaller scale and better optimized, used for cars or wildlife and not only civilians. I really think it's one of the next steps in open-worlds this generation, and ACU is still a prototype of some kind.

No worries, I'm sure plenty of people will be putting out footage of their retail XONE copies in a couple of weeks. PC version will look a fair bit nicer on a good rig :)

The number of NPCs is really impressive.

On the other hand, the framerate is shit. I will take a smooth framerate over number of NPCs any day.

No ambient music confirmed, fucking hell. Didn't they learn with AC3?

Seriously, losing more and more interest in this game as every day passes.

No hard feelings man. I'm not one to lie.

That looks like AC alright. I need to get back AC brotherhood at some point. Outside the pop-in it looks alright. I'm thinking the co op is the real differentiator from the previous games. The rest seems standard AC gameplay.

Framerate, pop in, animation stuttering in combat, lack of ambient music is just a huge turnoff.

Also Arno's hood looks weird.

For all the talk of reinventing the series, that looks like Assassins Creed. I'm still in, but it's disappointing it just looks so damn similar to past games.

Looks extremely impressive. I seriously don't understand the hate. There's a lot of nice improvements to AC in here...and it looks to be more focused, similar to AC2.

I'm excited.

This shit looks nothing like the stuff they were showing at E3! I guess that was on a PC. It doesn't look as nice, but whatever.

He changed the hood but didn't change the rest of the outfit so yeah it looks bad.

We can hear music around 4:18 when he climbs the tower and at 6:18 when he escapes and after. It's not loud but it's here. There's a lot of sound effects and people are shouting in the streets all the time. The soundtrack which was leaked months ago contained some ambient music too, I think they used it on the website too.

I know there's a lot of hate for this game / Ubi for various reasons - regardless, it's hard to deny, the game's graphics (scale, detail, # of NPC) are downright spectacular.

I will say, graphics aside, the AC game play looks too similar (to me) to justify a purchase at this moment.

I'll wait on the review for this one.

Why is there a random bail of hay on the roof of that church?

And what was that one guard made from? Adamantium???

But overall the game looks much better than I was expecting. Why doesn't Ubi just let these games stand on their own instead showing everyone these ridiculous CGI demos that lead everyone to be disappointed later?

The framerate's obviously rough and the NPC LoD pop-in issues are distracting, but my biggest issues with this footage are:

1. Lack of exploration music
2. Combat is way too slow and lasts for way too long. Animations need to be sped up and enemy health halved, at least. Should be swift and efficient.

Other than that I think the crowds add a ton to the game. it's the first time I've ever felt like an Assassin's Creed city/environment had some life to it, even if it's all just superficial atmosphere. When the player runs past the 2nd large crowd through those streets where guards are pulling random civilians around with the noise + cannon fire in the background, it actually did feel, even if for a second, like a city on the brink of total chaos. This tech is gonna pay off huge in the future if they keep optimizing.

The new animations, when they aren't hitching weirdly, are fantastic. Lighting is pretty good too.

I don't know much about the time period but surely they had more than one roof colour...

This is a nice critique for a game that is still in development. Unfortunately, this is the final version of the game.

Unless the day one patch does miracles in regards to framerate and pop in... but I'm not exactly holding my breath.

The main issues seem to be pop in and bluriness which can be both fixed if there are proper pc settings. Nothing we can do about texture and model quality though.

I guess it doesn't look too bad. By far, the only impressive thing is the amount of NPCs on the screen but I did see:

frame rate drops
generic combat
Horrible NPC textures/models
More of the same generic AC gameplay
Pretty bad pop up
A horrible UI.

I was pretty pumped about this game several months ago but I have pretty much lost all interest. I'll definitely pick it up when it's $30 or less though. Maybe by then, there will have been enough patches to help improvements.

This pop in is so annoying. I like the amount of NPCs but its almost too much for my liking. Why could they not have made better balance?

Either way I love the franchise so if the story is good I might get it anyway. Still seems like some strange decisions they made though.

As for the resolution thing, parity, lol, I doubt it would even hit a stable 30fps on 1080p..
