Leaked AC Unity gameplay videos up in the wild (edit: re-uploaded)

Shadow of Mordor is damn impressive, too.

Cloth physics and rain is the measurement of next gen.

Holy shit that's Shadow of Mordor? I'm going to get that game tomorrow. I had no idea it looked so damn good. I haven't followed it at all.

On topic:
Dat pop in. And from everything I've seen AC4 still looks better...but I honestly won't know until I see a full HD video of AC:U.

I guess it doesn't look too bad. By far, the only impressive thing is the amount of NPCs on the screen but I did see:

frame rate drops
generic combat
Horrible NPC textures/models
More of the same generic AC gameplay
Pretty bad pop up
A horrible UI.

I was pretty pumped about this game several months ago but I have pretty much lost all interest. I'll definitely pick it up when it's $30 or less though. Maybe by then, there will have been enough patches to help improvements.

You forgot screen tearing too.

I knew the game would not look as bad as the leaked screenshots and this confirms it.

This looks really good to me. Since there is a Day 1 patch, I think the game will look pretty good.

I have been reading/hearing about large crowds and all, and of all the things that Unity is promising to deliver, it was the last thing I was excited about. Now I am looking forward to raising hell in the middle of a large crowd.

The french version is really the definitive way to play. The crowds are impressive. I can't stand the gameplay in these games though.. (the combat and how they stick to ledges)

The way the player can climb buildings is just ridiculous.. it's strange, they make this really immersive (visually) game world, but then they make it seem like you are some superhero or alien with superpowers. It totally makes you stand out from the 'scene'.

And then there's all the futuristic stuff...

Was thinking the same thing. Wish there was an option for English subs and just French voices.

Cloth physics and rain is the measurement of next gen.

SoM is really inconsistent in that sense.

Cloth and lighting (depending on the tod) are great, humans look like creepy puppets, environments have nice textures, but really bad geometries and level design.
Also everything fucking looks the same, in a map that is painfully small, to boot.

From behind Talion, specially the ranger skin, is really great looking, though.

Feels more like a tech demo for the Nemesis system, than a full game.

I'm really not impressed. It's just the same game every year in a different setting. Large crowds don't really add much to gameplay do they?

Looks nice. Pop in in definitely noticeable in video but that may change during normal play even without improvements. Been playing Sunset Overdrive which has some pop in but during typical play with eyes on the center of the screen its hardly noticeable.

The crowds look impressive and I know its been a big talking point regarding the game but I hope they do more with it than this dense wading. Haven't followed this much so I don't know if they've talked other uses of such numerous NPCs.

I don't really get this critique. You have people who parkour just like this in real life. You also have clips out there of people climbing above a "normal" persons ability. Of course they stretch it in order to make a fun video game. I mean this is a video game and not a life simulator after all.

kinda weird they didn't go for a more flambloyant outfit for this game. I assume you can customize right?

maybe its because they keep on trying to up themselves each game, the more subtle design kinda makes it feel like a downgrade.

There's quite a lot of customization actually.

They've clearly made some really bad initial dev choices and now don't have the engine to make it a reality.

Or to be clearer, an Ubisoft game.

2. Combat is way too slow and lasts for way too long. Animations need to be sped up and enemy health halved, at least. Should be swift and efficient.
It really should. With their talk of including last-known-position, redoing stealth and making straight up combat more difficult I thought they would learn a lesson from how Splinter Cell Blacklist balanced stealth vs guns blazing. In Blacklist bullets hurt, and you really couldn't shrug off damage. That kept combat very quick and very deadly, and thus provided stealth with a natural incentive, all while being, well, really intuitive.

To see the guards here getting stabbed in the back so many times - its so gamey, and not in the good way. I'll want to stealth just to avoid dealing with what looks like very clumsy combat, not because of a sense of danger.

I can confirm that's definitely an Assassins Creed game.
Hmm... I see virtual historical assassins, but I have seen no creed. Then again, I don't know how many games its been since the actual creed of the Assassins has meant anything.

Definitely loosks better than the screenshots. But looks like more of the same, this franchise is played out
Yep.. im in the middle of my black flag playthrough, its on pace to be the best ac game but for sime reason im finding it hard to push through the game. im close to entirely quitting the game and not coming back to it..
My hype for this game died too. As much as i like paris this game has that been there done that feel to me. I wish ubi would be brave enough to make an AC game where majority of characters are from the non white nations. A drastic change in cultural setting would probably refresh my interest in the series.

Man...watching this gameplay footage just really reenforces why I don't want to buy this game. It's just so familiar and tired to me at this point. The same damn tactics and trips that have been in the series for years at this point, just with a different coat of paint on it.

My complaints with this game really have nothing to do with graphics. I can care less if it really ended up being one of the best looking games ever made. After playing through the entirety of AC4, and doing a lot of side stuff, I just felt exhausted...very rarely have I played a game so much, and felt so unfulfilled by it as the Assassin's Creed series has done to me. I acknowledge that the last game made me feel compelled to play it for hours and hours, but I feel like it was more of an addictive tendency than me actually having any kind of fun with it.

This game really looks like exactly more of the same of that.

They said next gen starts here then he dives into the hay and its completely static. All the NPC's add life to the setting but is this the only thing they're going for? Still have yet to finish AC4 but, this one does look worse than that in terms of IQ.

Dat pop in...

Also, what's up with the combat? I never expected good combat from AssCreed, but I think this time it looks even worse than in past iterations.

Dat lighting, though.

The fact this woman goes from this:

to this:

In the span of three steps really is unacceptable. Could not be anymore distracting and immersion breaking.
