If I finally get to pre-order it in the coming days, will it probably still ship at the same time as the others that got pre-ordered on the 29th?

So the nexus 6 is as big as an iphone 6+. Any word of how the camera performs for it? I'm thinking about picking one up next month.

Thanks dude. The youtube video in the first link looks suspect. The colors look good, the passes my expectations of what a nexus camera can do.

Is it just me, or does the iPhone seem too warm?

That was the second thing I noticed. The nexus color seems more natural than the iphone 6+. The new sony senor is going along way with the nexus 6.

How would anyone know

So I'm reading up on the nexus 6 more and notice the following line, in this preview:

Unfortunately, the odd green/magenta color shifting at graphic edges remain on this display, but in normal use this isn't really noticeable.

Anyone know what they're talking about, and more importantly, have an example? I owned a Motorola Photon a few years ago for a little bit, and it had a pentile display that lead to some really ugly edges on graphics on websites. I noticed it first on the mobile GAF site and couldn't stand it so much I got rid of the phone. I honestly thought something was wrong with the phone at first.

I'm just wondering if this is the same thing or not. I guess the only way for me to really find out is to go to a carrier store and test it out when they get in.

Isn't the consensus that when it comes to AMOLED that Samsung will always get the latest and greatest (cause they make them) and every other OEM gets second graded displays?

I don't know why that's the consensus. It might be speculation but that's all that is.

In other news, all reviews on the Nexus 6 are apparently embargoed until November 12th. All you'll get before that are first impressions.

Any reason to expect the 5 to get a new hardware revision? Or should I just get it once L hits. (I need a new cheap phone and this seems the best place to ask)

If 5 were getting a hardware revision it probably would have happened already. It's still a pretty good buy and Lollipop apparently addresses it's two biggest weaknesses: battery life and camera. So if I were you I'd get it.

Why even take orders when they don't have enough phones to let that pre-order page running for at least 30 minutes?

That's just stupid.

I'm just hoping the carriers have ample supply. I'm thinking this "preorder" nonsense was to drive everyone to the carriers. If they get ample supply then so be it. I just want to buy the damn thing.

I don't think you are going to have a hard time getting one from a carrier. This isn't a Samsung or Apple phone.

iPhone looked better fyi for those with them Mega Blinders on.

So just to be clear, you're saying the one on the right looks better than the one on the left?

I actually thought it was a mixed bag. In some of the video the N6 clearly looked better, ditto photo's. In others the iPhone 6 looked better. Hopefully what this shows is that a) Google have taken camera performance seriously in this latest Nexus and b) there's not much in it between these high end phones.

This is starting to tick me off. They haven't refreshed the page in days.

Are there any downsides to buying from t-mobile? Will it come with bloat? Can I buy it in full from them and then go to the prepaid $30 plan?

I don't think so. If you try online, you'll have to check out with a plan. I'm not sure with in-store purchases. I don't think they'll let you buy it without a plan unless you're already a customer.

None that I know of other than warranty. As for bloatware here's what comes on the nexus 5 http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-12151#preinstalled_apps.

Your best bet as far as the plan goes is to go into a store and ask them. They might just let you buy it and set it up there.

"In an extensive interview with three Google executives, Ars Technica has learned that Android 5.0 contains a handy “Play Auto Installs” feature that handles carrier bloatware — and yes, users will be able to remove bloatware from their devices just as easily as carriers are able to install it during handset setup."

The only issue is whether or not carriers actually take advantage of that. We won't know until it's released whether google has required them
verizon
to not include unremovable bloatware.

Forbes has confirmed that Google has embargoed Nexus 6 reviews until November 12th. Disappointing as I was hoping to see some this week.

I imagine the Verge might have a first review exclusive, though. So maybe they will go first on Friday.
