DP doesn't even just refer to the motion, it also refers to reversals in general.
You serious? A large portion of the FGC "pros" refer to 623 motions as DP motions. They don't even say "dragon punch" they just say DP.DP doesn't even just refer to the motion, it also refers to reversals in general.
You're supposed to start at 1 not 4

I remember when FChamp was teaching ShadyK some character and ShadyK asked for a move and FChamp was like "oh yea its reverse DEE PEE" and ShadyK immediately got that. And that was FChamp describing a TELEPORT move which has nothing to do with an actual dragon punch.
If that was a new person they would've never gotten it. And that's why this method of notation writing is non specific.

REAL pros call moves by their REAL names.
66P? please, n00b, I'm talkin bout Gyaku Seikenzuki.
He means when people refer to moves with DP properties as a DP, but they don't necessarily use a DP motion. This definitely occurs.
I know what he is saying and what he is saying is what I believe to be a problem. Some people use DP to indicate an input (623) while other refer to it as a reversal. It's a non specific terminology. Notations HAVE to be specific or they are garbage.I think he meant that it is not only used to describe a motion but a reversal as well...hear p4 players talk about dps all the time and iirc it's just two buttons.

I am talking about people NEW to this notation business.Yeah, in-context you can figure out whether someone means the motion or "reversal" very easily. People aren't that dumb.
I think the terms could be trimmed and polished, if that's what we are worried above. One example is that I wonder how necessary it is point out your gesture is derivative of a "circle" with "C".

You are going to tell someone new to Tekken and fighting games that you do a WGF by doing a DP and then pressing 2? Come on now man.
HCF or half circle forward is a commonly used term in this notation.
But I guess it's not as intuitive as people are trying to argue
almost as funny as

Marz was talking shit in the Ultra thread about vulva because vulva was FAing Tiger Shots, so they played a few games. The net result was that video, where Marz got lit up so bad CountBlackule went up 2 tiers.
You can read the whole thing from this post onwards.
I opened my numpad on the phone to translate this post.
ub, hcf, uf, then.
Is this still the input in SF4? I always perform it fine with just the half circle motion.
whats the story here?
So did Marz upload that video?

That shit would make James Chen proud.FGC-GAF Civil War II: To be, or not to 83
That shit would make James Chen proud.
Oh and you forgot to say "WHO WILL YOU STAND WITH?" or "STAND AND BE COUNTED!"
IT IS TIMEThat shit would make James Chen proud.

I got a Japanese PS2 pretty much just for hnk and sbx. When is HnK getting a console port because I think I know a few move names from that one.
This is like voting between using the metric system or whatever nonsense America uses. We all know the correct choice but people will be stubborn.
That was the year not the day. 12/14 is a Sunday 02UM isn't coming out then.
I would have an even harder time entering the world of 3D fighters lol
It's pretty simple to read both at this point, and new games don't usually have bizzare inputs, so it seems like a strange argument to have. It's not like you're writing notations down in a foreign language, it's really easy.
I guess it might be inconvenient if you play both anime games and tekken but honestly who does that
Well I feel stupid.
Speaking of feeling stupid, I'm still awful at any 3D fighter. I swear, I need somebody to mentor me and explain what I'm doing wrong as I'm doing it.

The things I would do to see this game on Steam... has anybody ever tried the online in it? I saw it advertised as a feature.
Yeah. I feel like someone needs to tell me "just ignore these moves, focus on learning these". Then there's movement to learn and okizeme in Tekken. I haven't played a Tekken since 3 and Tag, but even then I wasn't taking them seriously. There's been a lot added since then, but I'd need someone to show the ropes.
Never used it.
I've heard the online built in is pretty awful, but mizuumi wiki has a caster which works to great success. If this game got a steam release I would quit all other FGs forever and just play this game for all eternity.
I already brought up this issue.Very real problem with numpad notation- the numbers people are used to are the ones on a telephone.
