Official HaloFest Thread | We're so f**cking tired of shooters...and #butts

Only thing I'm particularly disappointed with is the kill-times. It seems like you lose shield way too fast. That is one thing I hate about call of duty, you die fast and the game takes no strategy.

best way to balance all these abilities is to have quick kill times. if it's around halo CE/halo 2 kill times it'll work well.

That footage looked pretty outstanding, but I have one question that hopefully Frank or someone else could answer.

The Prophet's Bane isn't replacing the classic energy sword, is it? ;_;

In MP looks like it is, gonna be something in the campaign related to it surely

Base Movement speed is too slow, I don't like Sprint at all. Shield recharge mechanic for Sprint only really helps for people trying to sprint away, they can still quickly get back into position off of spawn, or not under duress, which has negative ramifications for map design and long range engagements.

ADS is terrible and needs to get out of the way of my ability to see what is on the screen. Scope is far better, everything that is on your screen is in front of you to be shot at. Ironsights serve no purpose except to satiate the mass audience that somehow needs to see their gun filling up their screen, instead of just what they are shooting at.

It's a terrible mechanic, even if it doesn't have an impact on movement, it's still a big problem.

Lot of the abilities seem to marginalize the shooting skill, charge melee, ground pound especially.

Looks very similar to Halo 4 but with less bad decisions. I'm there day 1 so hopefully it turns out well. Beta looked decent. Not what I want but I can dig it.

I am totally good with all these additions. I will have to play it to be sure. But yeah this looks like a lot of fun. Its Halo but just evolving. Cant wait for December 29th.

Some of you are so damn negative it's not even funny. Like damn, at least wait until you play the beta in a month

I just feel really indifferent about it. I feel like I'll never use it.

Like how many of you that have played COD: AW use the ground pound/know it even exists? You don't. You use double jump and lateral thrust pretty exclusively.

Eh, it looks different than the AW ground pound. Based on what we just saw in Halo 5, it looks like you can aim pretty far forward and aim where you smash into the ground. Definitely can't do that in AW.

I'm really not sure how people can say they hated Halo 4 but like 5 when 5 looks to go even further with stuff introduced in 4.

No kill streaks, no mantis, no SAW, nerfed sprint and even starts.

I don't see how this is worse than Halo 4.

Exactly. Sprint has more ramifications than just escaping combat for free.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
In all honesty, ignoring ALL the other things, I really just can't wrap my head around trying to make the base gameplay so much faster.

Halo was designed to be slower and more methodical. It was the anti-twitch game. There's always Quake and CS and CoD and so much more.

The game may very well turn out to be great! ... But, I just can't imagine it'll *feel* like Halo... at least to me.
