Sega very happy with Valkyria Chronicles' Steam launch

Panzer Dragoon Orta HD.

Great to hear that Sega is pleased with VC. It goes to show that if you make a quality console port, PC gamers WILL buy it. Even those who already played the original.

Edit: why the hell aren't more people asking for Panzer Dragoon? What's wrong with you people?

Panzer Dragoon yes, Panzer Dragoon Orta no. Bring on Zwei, Orta isn't nearly as good as Zwei.

please bring back Outrun 2006 ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

then give us Vanquish, Bayonetta, Jet Set Radio Future, Skies of Arcadia, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Phantasy Star Online 2, Virtua Fighter 5, Yakuza and Shenmue

and Persona if the port house has nothing else to do

and Trauma Center

So happy :) Valkyria Chronicles deserves all the sales it can get. Hopefully we'll see even more SEGA console games on PC/Steam!

To be honest Dragon's Dogma and Asura's Wrath are two games that are not of great demand to the PC market...for the most part Capcom ports games to the PC.

People have been begging for Dragon's Dogma on PC for years. And while you are right on Asura's Wrath, the Naruto games have done well for themselves so the market is probably there.

Sega is so clueless. Hopefully they're learning.

When fans are begging you for games, you know something is very wrong.

Excellent, now to foolishly hope that this leads to the franchise being dug out of its half buried grave and given new life, or an equally as unlikely shot at VC3.
Or maybe I'll just be happy to see the original being received so well years later and leave it at that.

It is my first time playing it and I am copmletely enthralled. I hope this helps SEGA understand that Vanquish needs to be on steam.
That would be nice and all.

But what I really really want Sega to understand is that Valkyria Chronicles is the best thing their internal development had going for the entirety of the past decade, and that they should give it another try.

And maybe, this time around, do not torpedo the franchise by focusing exclusively on Japan, putting it on a platform which is dead everywhere else, and trying to catch a ride on the monster hunter gravy train.

Eh...but I mean that was before we started to get Dark Souls. Otherwise people would still be begging for it.

And then you have people complaining or purposefully not buying games that land on their platform a mere months later.

I wonder how more costly would it be to port Vanquish or Bayonetta and what kind of sales they'll need to justify the process.

I was just checking out what Sega has under its wings, and there's a lot of great stuff that could get a new life on PC. I'd buy Skies of Arcadia in an instant, missed that back when it came out. And any Atlus stuff they could port over would be fantastic.

It's too late and it's damn infuriating every time I think about it.

I see them proceeding with localizations and ports of VC2 and VC3. Some people are gonna be happy, but it's nowhere near the same quality as VC1 and it'll reflect on the sales.

They should bring Persona 4 Golden to PC so I can actually play it. I haven't been able to successfully convince myself to buy a Vita for one game, even if it's for Persona 4.

I bought this on PS3 back when it came out. It's honestly one of the best games from that gen. So glad it has been made available to more people now and is finally getting the attention it has always deserved.

I did my part. Haven't started it yet though, still playing through the excellent Shin Megami Tensei IV on the 3DS.

Speaking of which... Hey, Sega, after you've ported Vanquish, what about those Atlus JRPGs?

Unfortunately I missed out on Zwei but I would gladly buy it in Steam.

I loved Orta though. What didn't you like about it?

I like orta, but zwei and saga are much more engaging. The setting for zwei is terrific and it furthers the series plot well. Saga wrapped everything up, orta sort of feels like a weird homage to oanzer dragoon in terms of its place in the overall plot.

The graphics in orta are terrific but it never reaches the highest moments of zwei. The bit where you run on the bridge over the water in zwei while the camera pans low is pretty stunning for the saturn.

I appreciate the shitloads of additional content in orta, though. Essentially a full game and a half is locked away in orta.

This is phenomenally impressive. Glad to hear some positive news coming from Sega. It feels like I'm hearing doom and gloom all the time so a ray of light for the company is heart warming to see. And to echo everyone else here I'd love for this to give Sega the motivation to port some of their other well-received titles to Steam.

Hopefully this injects some powerful energy into Sega's Steam efforts.

It took 6 years for Valkyria Chronicles the reach the recognition and success. Actually I think it got the recognition, just not the success it should have been.

But they gotta start this off right and slow. VC was a good start, they're probably gonna start looking at Resonance of Fate and Vanquish (pls), games that are already localized.

Then we can start praying for VC3 (you can skip VC2, that's fine, no one wants that game anyway), and other more unreasonable stuff like Yakuza and Sakura Wars.

PSO2? Whats a PSO2?

To be honest Dragon's Dogma and Asura's Wrath are two games that are not of great demand to the PC market...for the most part Capcom ports games to the PC.

Dark Souls II had the largest concurrent playerbase of any game launched on Steam in 2014. If that doesn't tell you that ARPGs are in high demand by the PC demographic, I don't know what does.

Orta is great, Zwei is better. I think the latter would need a remake though, so the former is a better port candidate.

Also reminds me how Panzer Dragoon is one of the franchises around without a weak entry. Yukio Futatsugi :bow

fucking this.

VC had massive potential and they just shunned everyone who bought it and made it popular in the first damn place.

Then they claim the poor sales from that 2nd version which hit a system few people had in the first place is the reason a 3rd wouldn't be attempted. Hell they didn't even port the 2nd game anywhere else. Boggled the mind.

Bayonetta 1 would be cool.

But what I really want are arcade perfect ports of Sega's old arcade racers.

Never saw the point in bringing over VC as the PS3 version was quite good, but happy that is sells.

Is this true? Wow.

Also, there was the recent N-B financial statement which seemed to imply that the PC version sold over 900k in the first half of their financial year.

It is an absolutely charming and amazing title. When the series got relegated to shitbox handhelds that didn't sell outside of Japan that couldn't do the original art any justice the series fell by the wayside sales wise and interest wise for me.
