Yes of course. I wish I could be happy with my Wii U. And I'm jealous that some of you are happy... Oh, I would kill for a new Paper Mario... or a new F-Zero... or a new Metroid... or a new Mario...
Captain who?
Well, there have been two new Mario games for the console already, and if you bought a Wii U because you expected a Metroid or F-Zero anytime soon you might as well not have.
And just because the games Nintendo released this year aren't your thing doesn't mean their output is 'average'. If anyone had a strong year when it comes to quality it has been Nintendo, you don't even need to own one of their systems to acknowledge that.
Captain who?
Thats sad maybe its time for a new hobby for you. Jealousy is bad dude.Yes of course. I wish I could be happy with my Wii U. And I'm jealous that some of you are happy... Oh, I would kill for a new Paper Mario... or a new F-Zero... or a new Metroid... or a new Mario...

DKC:TF, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Hyrule Warriors, Captain Toad, etc.. Yeah, really average. What have Sony and Microsoft's output been for 2014? Abysmal?
Nintendo isn't in any risk of failure. Stupid thread.
Basically imagine all the different demographics brought in from the varying pools that the previous system sellers drew from all voting with their dollars on one single title, Captain Toad. This will be making a giant wave from all those initial splashes imo.
As for the poor sales in Japan, part of the reason this game will be such a runaway success is directly related to Christmas and the lower price point. Cultural factors are something that can't be ignored when predicting success and failure.
I don't get it. When saying Mario its clear what people want: a new adventure 3D Mario in the vein of Sm64,Sunshine and Galaxy. Not a mixture between NSMB and Galaxy.
With all the anticipation building up to the release of Captain Toad and all other major releases for this year coming out before it, it looks like Nintendo's got the perfect ace up their sleeve to come out on top this Christmas. With an early December release, a 40$ pricepoint and a universal appeal it seems like this game could very well appeal perfectly to every demographic and be a runaway success.
The game will offer challenges to hardcore gamers, the art style is inviting to a casual gamer, the lower price means that more people can add it to their christmas lists and successfully save Christmas regardless of their financial status.
On top of that, there are no new releases coming out by the end of the year post-Captain Toad release. It seems like a guaranteed runaway success. Try to name a video game that isn't Captain Toad that's coming out.
You can't! Captain Toad power!
Over the next ~5 months, the consensus will be that, no, Captain Toad did not save Nintendo. Within ~5 years, however, there will be stories explaining how Captain Toad represented a turning point for Nintendo, and how it resulted in a rejuvenation of their business.
Smash U will be forgotten long before Captain Toad.
I don't get it. When saying Mario its clear what people want: a new adventure 3D Mario in the vein of Sm64,Sunshine and Galaxy. Not a mixture between NSMB and Galaxy.
As Spieler 1 said, just because other consoles have a more shitty output it does not make the Wii U less shitty.
I bet OP is just sitting with a bowl of popcorn and laughing.
I was surprised by how captain toad managed what, 25k, in its first week in Japan?
I wonder if it can crack 250k worldwide.
This is about one unifying game that will draw together all of the existing Wii U owners to enforce their love for fantastic games and wonderfully original content.
This is about everyone getting together and saying YES! to supporting the Nintendo we all love.
YES! to Captain Toad
YES! to Toadette
YES! to all coming together with one strong title that refines Nintendo down to what we love most: fun, challenge and joy.
This is something that every gamer I'm sure wants, and Nintendo have graciously put it out in a format where everyone can join together regardless of their gaming backgrounds and confidently say "We love video games". Captain Toad seems like the central game to join such a divided community together.
