Will Captain Toad save Nintendo from failure?

I know it's a joke thread, but the answer to "will x save the Wii U from failure" is no unless x is a price drop.

Hoping the daytime crew of neogaf might see what the night time crew didn't and will agree that this is the savior we all need!

When Nintendo fanboys stop and wonder why Nintendo fanboys have a certain stigma this is the type of thread that doesn't help.

Even though you try to backtrack and say you didn't mean system seller no it won't help. it will sell more than Bayonetta 2 though.

The clarification you wrote is even more confusing than the first post. If you mean a game that will appeal to every WiiU owner like some kind of totem pole... it will never exist. On any console.

Will it be a game I buy and play? Yes.

Will it be a major factor in the WiiU turning itself around? No.

Would the success of this game being the beginning of a trend of similar smaller titles coming from Nintendo in house departments being released on the e-shop? I hope so.

Your topic asks if CT will save Nintendo from failure. Based on its poor Japanese sales and the fact that it's coming after Black Friday when the majority of customers will have blown their wad, I'm going to say an emphatic NO.

Also, your entire post does read as a parody. Even you can see how niche of a title CT will be. By your logic Tropical Freeze should have lit it up. NSMBU as well.

Can Nintendo's catastrophic death spiral be halted by Toad & friends? Can the apocalyptic failure that is the Wii U be redeemed by this sensibly priced holiday title?

Praise be to Captain Toad.

Wish I could get hyped for this title, but I just can't. It was fun in 3D World but it wasn't full game fun to me. So I'm gonna go with no; This is not the game that will unite the tribes.

I don't think so, but I'm certain that it will find it's audience, along with charming the pants off of anyone who will play it.

I mean, just look at this adorable little guy. Who doesn't love him?

Captain Toad will be a nice 'filler' game, to help pad the Wii U's releases. But let's be realistic, no one really knows who Toad is, outside of Nintendo fans.

I'm sure it will be a fine game, and it'll sell decently, but it's not saving anything from failure. That ship has sailed and all Nintendo can do is hope for the best at this point.

I think a big issue issue Nintendo has is this herd mentality of self-identified "Nintendo fans." It used to be such a big boon - what brand wouldn't kill themselves trying to build that kind of loyalty? - but these days, that crowd is aging and the size is shrinking and becoming more loud and exclusive.

The more insular yet vocal it becomes, the more it's a turn off for younger gamers which really are their largest market.

Which is kind of sad, because Nintendo themselves really stand for the very opposite of exactly that. They are one of the most Inclusive entertainment brands and do, at least product wise, reach out to that 5 to 90 audience they've been clamoring about for years. Surprises and smiles for everyone. Charming games like Toad, Health games, action, fighters, mature, brain puzzlers, sleep aids - whatever. They want to surprise and delight.

But this thread is a good example of what I mean, looking at Captain Toad not for the charming unique game it is, but as a symbol - a rally cry for "real Nintendo fans to come together and save our beloved company!" - which obviously A) does a disservice to the game and what it is trying to accomplish and what its value to the player is by putting it on an unrealistic pedal and B) gets a lot of people angry because they feel excluded from the party in a sense

Either they don't have the nostalgia, never owned a previous Nintendo system to "grow up" with this character and therefor 'don't get' this message and just turn away from it instead of being curious about the game mechanics, don't have a wii u and can't play the game, are young and are met with this sense of "Nintendo elite" wall of expectation they can't relate to and lash out, or somehow are annoyed at yet another "save Nintendo" thread when they were initially just curious what this game was. It just isn't going to end well.

I was just really offering my two cents, but poor Toad. You finally have your own game and you can't just, well, be a game :(.

Happens so often with nearly every product Nintendo tries these days.

Even with that edit, I'm not exactly sure what you're asking here.

I mean Captain Toad looks amazing, and I'm definitely going to pick it up whenever I get a Wii U, but it's probably not going to be this huge thing.

not sure about the question

but no?

I'm a pretty big nintendo fan, and am getting smash wii u ...but i have zero interest in buying captain toad this year..

maybe when it's like under $20? i'll buy it for my little brother in few years

I like vulva (lol) and your avatar but I don't understand what do mean to say with the OP or even why you started the thread.
Captain Toad is going to be fantastic though!

Is the music just the captain toad theme played over and over and over? Cause that'd be amazing , I love that song B^)

Toad and Toadette will start the revolution
