Trilogy of Laurel centric episodes? Lord have mercy on us :(

Oh god nooooooooooooo

Are you watching Gotham? I am apreciating Laurel more since I saw Barbara.

I got about 15 minutes into Gotham's first episode and turned that shit off. After no less than 3 crouching butt-shots of teen Catwoman in the first minute of the show, the over produced sets, the cheesy Bruce scream, then Jada... holy shit that's bad TV.

Oh please. People are acting like it's going to end the show. Why can't anyone just deal with the fact that Laurel is BC now?
Laurel is manageable when she has minimal screentime or when she is a small part of the overall story-of-the-week. When she gets bigger plots, it leads to some awful and cringe worthy scenes and resolutions. Not to say that she could not handle a whole episode on her own and it be interesting, but three episode arc looks to be overkill for a character that works best in small dosis.

Maybe the writers will surprise me, but everything they have done with the character so far has been, to be frank, stupid.

I've no idea.

I mean in terms of the show, Oliver just stole Yao Fei's entire gimmick of an archer with a hood. And yet nobody calls him on that. Laurel's just following in Oliver's plagiarizing motherfucker footsteps.

Lol, never thought of that. I mean, if we wanted to go meta, the first half of season 1 was basically Batman Begins but with killing instead of no killing. Even Wildcat said it best.

"Another vigilante? We've started a movement."

It's not gonna end the show, but it will be a difficult time. Laurel is so ... Laurel. I would rather have a Diggle triology. He is an interesting character with a backstory that can be further explored, the story about his brother and Deadshot isn't completed yet and he could do more stuff with Argus and the Suicide Squad.

Fair enough I suppose. I'm just sort of over the mindless Laurel hate, it's become a bad joke and it's starting to sound old (look at what happened on the Arrow after-show with Stephen. He clearly wasn't pleased). Dig doesn't just need a trilogy, he's one of the more underused characters in the show now. Roy not feeling his a-game? Well, better not take Dig with me, he's got a kid now. Everyone in the show needs further development, except for a select few (as they've gotten too much of the spotlight on them, and that needs to stop).

. I'm just sort of over the mindless Laurel hate, .

It's not mindless hate. The character simply sucks and she was the reason two characters people liked died (one of her own fault, one to make her transition into BC). Now this crappy characters will be forced down out throats in three episodes? It just sounds like an overkill. No side character has gotten three episodes yet and now the one that gets it is the worst one? Meh.

It all feels fake and forced. Overkill really. If it doesn't work it wil be whole three episodes we'll never get back. I really hope they have some sort of miracle in their sleeve.

So basically you've given up on the show?

And no, it's not fake and forced. At all. The show spent two and a half seasons tearing Laurel down and slowly building her up. It's been playing the long game here, AND sticking to the idea that Black Canary is a legacy character.

So what you're suggeting that the only way to enjoy a show is to love and accept every single thing about it? Really?

Laurel sucked since day 1 and I stil enjoyed Arrow till now. I will most likely enjoy it even with Laurel as BC. The only way I could see myself giving up on the show is if they would make her a secondary lead, with as much screen time and attentio nas Oliver. But I doubt they're that dumb.

But that's the problem I have with this "trilogy". I can survive some side plots with Laurel, maybe even an episode centered around her. But three episodes back to back? That would be overkill for even for good side character, let alone for Laurel.

It hasn't played that game long enough. It feels like they just got tired and decided "screw it! we'll just take a shortcut".

Oh shit I totally forgot about that. You guys think we get H.I.V.E. this season or are they going to save that for even later?

It's more an inability to have faith in a show you've watched for three years.

Not everything on Arrow is great, but after two excellent seasons I'd like to think they've merited SOME optimism and trust/

Hive is a long-term game.

Remember it took us well into S2 before Slade became Deathstroke, and a season and a bit before we found out who hired Fyers.

Twoo seasons where the one big truly constitently bad element was Laurel merit only complete pesimism about trilogy of episodes decidated to her.

Gotham has it's merits and gladly focuses on them very quickly. Penguin and the gang war is very enjoyable and the appearances of the lesser characters like Selina and Barbara are small relative to that.

Instead of judging Laurel let her prove herself on the trilogy
I'm not judging a character that will be introduced in the trilogy, I judge a character that is around since the first episode and continued to be a nuisance to my enjoyment. Except the Laurel chin gifs. They were great.

We don't even got proper R'as yet. I am sure we will get more cues, but League of Assassins first. H.I.V.E. could be the game for next season.

I *really* hope we see more of Cupid later in the series. Her character was really well done, and I loved the music that accompanied her!

I feel like Laurel's arc will be very predictable and the conclusion will be extremely straightforward, so having the 3-season build up just ends up being a massive waste of time, especially when a competent and good Canary was already on the show for a whole season (and one that didn't need 2 seasons worth of fuckups before kicking ass). The only way this thing will be redeemed is if her origin story ends up resolving in an unexpected way.

At this point Laurel's just a shounen anime protagonist, it's like introducing Shinji Ikari when Domon Kasshu was already on the show.

Have we been watching the same show?

Look, I love Arrow. It's great. But it never does the unexpected thing. They telegraph plot twists a mile in advance. Fans knew Sara was alive, they knew Malcolm was in the League of Assassins, they knew Shado was dead off-island BEFORE the show got there. Arrow's not complex at all, the show works because in the end it's about character rather than plot.

They sporadically subvert our expectations (Malcolm Merlyn as Oliver's nemesis, not Tommy Merlyn), but predominantly this is easily the most straightforward show on TV and stuff like 'who killed Sara?' isn't going to be a Twin Peaks style mind screw: it's going to make complete sense and be a plot device to set up further angst.

Laurel was fine in Season 1 and annoying in parts of her depression last year. I still like her overall, bring on the trilogy.

But be honest: That'd be fucking amazing.

Guys, let cut back a bit on the Laurel hate. There are very little fans of her, but there is no reason to keep going on and on about it. We don't want to put Cornballer to work.

Why would he? It's the Kattie Cassidy hate that was the problem.

.

Oh please. She is the female lead, not a "side character". She was always meant to be this.

The only reason Sarah existed in the first damn place was to get Laurel here.

So when is the crossover this week? or are all shows stopping due to thanksgiving?
I'm not from the US so.. I don't know! LOL

so i finally caught up with all the episodes of this show

late season 2 was godlike omg

slade you motherfucker

this season seems kind of weak in comparison

1. Sara NO

2. Sorry, I still don't buy Laurel as an action hero.
Those three episodes
better do some WORK.

3. there are a lot of hero nods this season, but at times it feels like they're going too far and it's taking attention away from Ollie.

4. I'm about done with all these OH GOD I HAVE TO KEEP THIS SECRET TO PROTECT THIS PERSON I LOVE plots. Laurel needs to tell her dad about Sara asap. Oliver and Thea just need to get everything out in the open.

I thought Arrow was supposed to be strictly "no superpowers" show, and now we're getting a Flash crossover? (Not that there's anything bad about it)

Could that mean that there's hope for seeing The Atom in Arrow or will we have to see him make an appearance in Flash instead?

Slade was super strong last season though

We've seen a short glimpse of the Atom suit in the last episode.

That said, I feel like Ray Palmer is a much better fit for Flash. He's not sad, mopey and brooding enough for Arrow.

short funny story.

So my GF was catching up on Arrow, and the scene where Ray was removing the necklace from Felicity came up, so I quietly pulled up Radioactive on youtube and started playing it as the scene started. Oliver walks in and see Raylicity/Feliciray kissing it out, and my GF says "Of course they play this song during that scene...."

I told her, "No, actually I was playing that song during this scene"

and we both had a good laugh.

but that scene needs to be added to the collage.

I think Laurel is fine.

Her whole S2 arc was kinda weak, but given the future trajectory of the character it kinda makes sense.

I feel the worst is that the writters didn't seem to know what exactly do with the character for some time.

Something they, kinda, fixed on Flash. (Iris character)

Why does the BC costume have so many straps and buckles?

Not that I'm complaining...

Nomura school of design.
