The thing about FFVII Remake is:

1) Would it even be announced before XV is released?

2) Is it going to take another decade to develop like XV?

I don't want to wait years and years for a game. Just announce it when it's absolutely ready to be marketed and unleashed upon the world.

This is exactly my line of thinking.

So much hype and it's only Monday, how the hell are we gonna last till the weekend?

Anyway, I'll keep my expectations in check and just look forward to some U4 gameplay and new IPs.

Finally got approved! Happy to be a part of GAF

I love how the hype has gone so far that everyone completely forgot about the one thing we were pretty much expecting (Uncharted Trilogy Remastered)

Shenmue would matter more than TLG. Heck, the game might actually sell more than TLG if it were announced since it would get major backing and it would be open world.

FFVII is in a class of its own and even that's impossible in one week.

I'm talking about fans as a whole.

Everyone knows that FFVII is a bigger deal than TLG. You admitted as much yourself.

It's simply due to the fact that TLG still exists. We know nothing about FFVII.

I'd say the opposite is true. We had Verendus confirm development of FFVII more than a year ago, and to top it off, the game was already released. Nearly 18 years ago!
TLG, on the other hand, was shown off a little bit before falling off the face of the Earth. We know almost nothing about what the gameplay will be like or how much of the initial concept has survived the "re-engineering" that Shu talked about. FFVII is, on a number of fronts, a known entity, while TLG is as good as vaporware to a lot of people. I'd love to see both, but if I could choose just one, I'd take TLG for the reasons given, as well as the pedigree of the developer. (I'm not speaking ill of SE, just highly of Ueda and company)

Epic.

Even if nothing new was announced. We'd still be getting (almost certainly) Uncharted 4 gameplay reveal, Ratchet & Clank Remaster footage, updates on The Order, No Man's Sky, Bloodborne and smaller titles like The Witness.

Just think about that for a second and let it sink in.

Then remember we also do have at least a handful of big announcements. There's little chance this event is disappointing any but the most cynical of users.
Yep...will be a great show if nothing is announced

2015 - FF Type 0 and FF XV
2016 - FF VII Remake
2017 - Kingdom Hearts 3

I think EMAGON is just Sony poking fun at naysayers. It's meant for the "PS4 has no games" crowd. Sony: "You think we have no games, huh? Bitch we got 20 years of games. You'll see more at PSX." Hence the plant sprouting in the desert. The "drought" is over.

They aren't doing their jobs properly if they're watching this nonsense.

really? Sony watching neogaf, arguably the biggest gaming enthusiast forum on the internet, is nonsense? Come on buddy, we all know GAF > internet > GAF is a thing. Why do you think boyes was here? Keeping a lid on this shit. The worthy ban was no coincidence. Hell ill be suprised if the mods/evilore dont have a bat phone to sony to keep this in check. I never get hyped for an announcement because thats how disappointment happens, but this is obviously a big deal. Not just to the internet but to the strategy of sony as a whole. Yeah microsoft (may have) won npd, but sony have this massive ace in the hole to turn the PR spotlight back on them. Who will be talked about most over xmas? The xbox picking up steam or Sony bowing to gamers and crashing the internet?

Holy shit a father ted quote. What an amazing show.

It won't happen within a week.

They just showed Kingdom Hearts III footage today in a closed theatre. I'm expecting that in a week.

They're not gonna show KH3, FFXV, FFVII, and a brand new RPG. It's stupid.

I'm not sure it is entirely a matter of opinion. One can have zero interest in either TLG or FF7r and should still be able to understand the magnitude of the tonnage.

I see what you're saying, but the fact that a lot of people agree on something doesn't make that collective opinion anything more than just that.

Did they get worried before the E3 or Gamescom ?? People expected far more for this E3 Show than seein Powers and multiplat Third Party Games

Ok thanks. Hope for retail retail release tough

Nah Adam was unfazed on twitter after e3 because he knew that e3 wouldn't be the only event this year sony does. If a company is worried over one event that tells me they have nothing else to show.

Sony has been doing a lot of conferences this year. It would be stupid to put all eggs in one basket. It is better to trickle out announcements IMO.

I thought emagon was like e mag (maj) on. As in e maj on, as in imagine. Playstation imagine. Imagine the (virtual) reality...or some cheesy slogan like that

This GIF really does sum up this entire thread.

I can't think of anything with more question marks around it than a (hypothetical) FFVII remake. Because as stated probably 100 pages back now by APZoneRunner, it's not as simple as just remaking it to be prettier. Chances are a lot about it would be changed and not everyone would like it. That's a balancing act on SEs part and an especially important one because the game is tied to their legacy. Moreso than Sony's actually.

That's the funny thing. Square would have more to potentially damage/lose in remaking FFVII than Sony ever would.

I like that the FFVIIR talk came from nowhere, but has maintaned all the same.

Not from nowhere.

It's a long shot, but there's reason to think it could show. FFVII was the game that made Ninty fans like me take notice of Playstation. Granted, I waited for GT and MGS to take the plunge, but still, it would make a lot of sense to reveal it at an event celebrating 20 years of the brand.

There won't be a problem or any question marks if they just release a mostly faithful update, with updated graphics and voice acting. No need to go all George Lucas and fuck up something that was perfectly fine in the first place. But, it is SE and well...

I'm pretty sure that phone is red.

So, even if he was teasing like crazy, was he correct on the massive gigaton?

Gigatons?

1) We'll start with the idea that a Gigaton is subjective. What's a Gigtaton to him, may not be a Gigaton to you.

2) Let's acknowledge how rarely a 'Gigaton' happens. Regardless of your opinion on what one is, presumably the distinction from 'Megaton' means it happens even less frequently. It is less likely by that merit.

3) Information that travels through many hands, has a way of changing. On top of that, even first hand information like official game announcements, don't always come to fruition. And the delivery of official information can change up to the last minute.

It's all starting in less than a week, so be patient and believe what you want. Don't rely on this thread too much.

I also find it sad that Verendus went full silent on the FFVII remake after he shared the info a year ago. He hasn't mentioned it ever since.

I believe him, but you'd think that if he managed to see it with his own eyes, he would have more information by now.
