After a year of sales data I imagine this is an accurate reflection of EA right now in regards to forming such a close partnership with MS.

can anyone on this entire forum tell us what "life of the title" means? i also find it odd that he used quotation marks in his own tweet.

These kind of things are hidden in the contracts. Tldr; there's an agreed definition of what 'life of a product' means for Titanfall, and MS chose to buy exclusivity for that period.

It could mean:
- until a sequel is released
- until servers are shut down
- until publisher decides to discontinue title
- insert reason

From a consumer perspective, it basically means 'long enough that by the time other platforms are eligible to get it, it no longer matters.'

Well, I've really got to get some work done, so I'm out of the thread until tomorrow afternoon.

But here's for all the exciting times ahead:

Haha! That install base opportunity. At this point Sony doesnt need to make these kinda deals. They are showcasing that thier first partys are definately strong enough to hold thier own.

It is the PR Bull again. Life of the title could be open to interpretation.

It could be like never coming to PS4 or lifetime could mean when sales drop to a certain point or when players move on to a new title.

I'm sure EA was handsomely rewarded for their exclusivity. TitanFall was a full price MP only game with very little content. It wasn't a sure-fire hit without serious marketing cash. EA were wise to hedge their bets. I doubt they regret the deal.

Guys, the stars are aligning.
This is the first time in 2 months I don't have mandatory Saturday overtime.
Even my work knows the hype is real

Titanfall was really the only game where MS gave an insane amount of love, care, marketing moolah, and basically the grandest support a first-party gives to a 3rd-party game.

The rest of the year though? FIFA and Madden felt like just a random throwaway 'bundle' partnership, and Dragon Age Inquisition was the biggest loser in MS's triple marketing partners of the fall. (ACU, CoD, DAI)

I mean, just look at UK. MS spent more time trying to counter GTA with GTA ( unofficially) and completely threw DA:I by the wayside.

Just saw some TitanFall hype from a few pages back. I'd be much more excited for the game had it run on UNREAL ENGINE 4. :/ Fuck Source.

I still think it's pretty impressive how they released Titanfall on XBO at 1408x792 and it still had tons of frame drops including weird rarer bugs where the game would just run in single frames per second. And it was already a fugly game technically.

That was some accomplishment Respawn, bravo. Maybe on PS4 they'll get to 900p :o
