Street Fighter 5 for PS4 & PC teaser trailer

Is it just me or is it rally fucking weird that people rage at the console companies for buying exclusivity instead of at the developers for selling it?

It's like bitching at The Heat for Lebron going to Miami.

Be less dumb.

Yeah, I said something similar about the TR deal. People were flipping out at MS, and I still think the situation was a load of shit, but can you really blame MS for trying to secure exclusives?

Crystal Dynamics are the ones who had the final say, they're the ones who signed the deal.

Same shit goes for SFV. If you're mad, be mad at Capcom.

This thread moves to fast to keep up, but people doubting open_mouth should really have a look at his post history, it's great!

As much as you hate the One right now, chances are you're going to buy one sometime during its lifespan because you are a gamer and it will be tough to resist when all is said and done. Here's five reasons why the One will top the charts:

Kinect 2.0
Kinect 2.0 will be the next Wiimote. The new Dance Central and Kinect Sports will be just the tip of the iceberg. MS knows they need a few more killer apps to start the avalanche effect and that's exactly what they have been working on in the hopes of having the next "Wii Sports" phenomenon on their hands. No other system can provide this type of mass market offering for grandma and little tommy alike.

Power of Dudebro
The biggest franchises out there will be on One. Some of them will be on the PS4, sure, but there's nowhere else where you'll find Halo, COD, Gears, Madden, etc. all on one console. Don't underestimate the dudebros who continue to fuel the yearly installments of COD, etc. and play it on the 360/PS3 instead of playing superior graphical versions on PC. The hardcore may care about FPS and res and such, but dudebro's don't.

Marketing
Wii U already has a flat tire so only the PS4 is in the way from topping the charts. Wii U will rebound a bit, no doubt, and PS4 is formidable, but Microsoft already proved it can maneuver around Sony whenever it needs to to maintain sales momentum whether that comes in the form of advertisements, aggressive price cuts and promos, or marketing deals with publishers. Microsoft has the deeper pockets and it's looking like they may have a price advantage all gen long.

Exclusives
There will be a bunch of One exclusives, moneyhat variety or otherwise. A handful of those will be hard to resist for even the biggest Sony or Nintendo fan so gamers will give in whether they like it or not. There's already been talk of Microsoft opening the wallet for Respawn's game and possibly Dead Rising 3. We know Ryse is coming and sounds like Insomniac and others may have exclusive stuff in the works.

Innovation
Microsoft were big innovators with the 360, whether people want to admit it or not and it's looking like they will keep that trend going. Gamers who think that Sony won't follow suit with the used games restrictions are fooling themselves. The future is here. You will either support it or not (see Steam). Dedicated servers, dynamic achievements, in-game skype and internet feeds, video sharing, cloud enhancements, clean and snappy interface, real-time multitasking/switching, smart TV, etc., etc. Few companies will be able to match the One's online gaming experience, but it will come at a cost, of course.

I don't know what's worse... This being a troll account or the guy being for real.

Holy fuck at the double standards in this thread (remember Tomb Raided Xbone exclusivity?)

It's sickening.

So you think ps4 owners who played TR who now can't play the sequel is the same as this? TR2 was already announced MS stepped in an money hatted the sequel. Ono said they had no funding for SF5, it's obvious sony helped fund it.

The idea of GAF being "unfairly" biased towards PS4 and having some underlying pro-Sony agenda that is somehow actively harming the XB1's ability to compete is hilarious to me. This an internet forum full of random video game nerds, not the fucking Supreme Court.

What game is this from?

ahem*

Well, can we talk about the logo? I like the logo. I think it is the best SF logo yet. Dat "V" doe.

Happy thoughts, people.

Not a fan of the art style at all. It looks like Ryu has been injecting Synthol into his arms. Seriously, why the hell is he so big ? Give me the old Ryu, the one that looked human.

CE was a featured mode on Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting in the US. But the game itself was not exclusively called 'Championship Edition'.

Correct,

both Champion Edition and Hyper Fighting (Turbo) were available on both SF2T on SNES and SF2SCE on Geneis.

the only exclusive 2D Street Fighter games on console were:

the original SF2 World Warrior on SNES.
Street Fighter III Double Impact on Dreamcast that included both New Generation and 2nd Impact.

that's all.

The other were availble in one form or another in a compilation such as Street Fighter Collection on Saturn and PS1 that include Super SF2, Super SF2 Turbo and SA2 Gold

SF3 3rd Strike's big popularity boom happened when Street Fighter Anniversary was realease on PS2 and Xbox a few years later after being originally released on consoled on the Dreamcast first. (not talking about arcade)

the game on Turbo Grafix16 was a gimped version called Fighting Street that only used 2 buttons instead of 6

SF has never been a exclusive, you're telling me theres nothing to this? doubt it SF was even on the 3DO lmao

Where did you come from?

Just realized and confirmed SF exclusivity is nothing new.

Street Fighter was exclusive to the Turbografx CD.
Street Fighter II was exclusive to the Super Nintendo.
Street Fighter II CE was exclusive to the Turbografx.
Street Fighter II Special CE was exclusive to the Sega Genesis.
Street Fighter II Turbo was exclusive to the Super Nintendo.
Super Street Fighter II was the first cross platform, and came out for both the Super Nintendo and Genesis.
Super Street Fighter II Turbo was exclusive to the 3DO.
Street Fighter Alpha was the second to be cross platform, and came out for both the Playstation and Saturn.
Street Fighter Alpha 2 was the third to be cross platform, and came out for both the Playstation and Saturn.
Street Fighter Alpha 3 was the fourth to be cross platform, and came out for both the Playstation and Saturn (Japan) and Dreamcast (US and Japan).
Street Fighter III (all versions) was exclusive to the Sega Dreamcast.
Super Street Fighter II X was exclusive to the Sega Dreamcast.
Street Fighter IV (all versions) was the fifth to be cross platform, and came out for both the 360 and PS3.

Interesting.

Even if that list isn't 100% accurate, SF exclusivity is definitely not a new occurrence.

At least he looks better than the SFIV Ryu, that's for damn sure.

Can you show me the conclusive evidence which makes it clear that SFV was going to be made available on both consoles, until Sony stepped in and persuaded them to remove its availability from the Xbone with a hefty check?

Thats my view point on this as well saying its just like tomb raider fiasco seems like a bit of stretch. Everyone one assumed that it was coming to ps4 and xb1 from the initial trailer announcement and then boom all of a sudden a few weeks later hey you know what that game is actually exclusive to xb1. This time around no one knew when this game was coming or for what platforms since it was last mentioned that it would be awhile until the next streetfighter. So its only similarity is that a third party game is simply not coming to a competing console. Plus the whole Microsoft not wanting to talk about the exclusivity deal of whether it was timed or if it was coming to pc as well was driving everyone crazy.

who would have known that the console massively outselling the xbox one would have more defenders, and therefore more people ok with the exclusivity

who could have even known

I just choked on my drink reading your comment, made me laugh so hard

Seems like SF engine? Hoped for Panty Raid for some next-gen particle effects

Still, never had a SF before but always wanted, this will be a good startin point.

Pretty much.

A year in last gen, it was all about the 360 and lolSony. PS3 has no games, etc.

I am glad that Street Fighter 5 is coming out. I have a PS4, so I can play it. There has been precedent for a street fighter game being exclusive. Super Street Fighter II Turbo for the 3DO was exclusive to the system. I remember when that came out I wanted to play it so bad. I had to settle for SNES Super Street Fighter II. It was not until the Street Fighter Collection that it was on Playstation and Saturn.

This thread is so amusing. Can't believe so many people are genuinely happy that a game is exclusive to the PS4...

Or are people just genuinely happy that Street Fighter V is being made after Ono and other Capcom staff said that there was no budget for it?

My opinion on timed/console exclusives hasn't changed. I only really think they are acceptable if the game wasn't going to be made unless the party benefiting from exclusivity put up the cash to make it happen.

I wonder if Sony/Capcom will handle this announcement better than Microsoft/SquareEnix.
