The Order 1886: 15 mn of B Roll gameplay video (direct feed)

I remember hearing everything could be destroyed and featured soft body physics.

I'm on my way to downloading this B roll footage, but has there been any destruction shown at all?

Well, I've seen glass getting shattered and the pans in the kitched get damaged I think.
But I've also seen them shooting wooden things like cupboards etc and they were not affected as far as I could tell.

Played it also and can second this.

I just want to see how detailed the more open areas are and how this actually plays.

This looks damn good. I am wondering how this combat mechanic would be :)

idk if they said everything could be destroyed but I did hear soft body physics.

Pans move, guns bounce, I think heads explode, so maybe? We haven't see the crazier weapons so...

I am definitely getting this game. It looks like a very well done game at its worst. But it can be simply amazing, the think is the lore of the game is so amazing. I feel people are gonna be let down, if isn't the best game they ever played.

I can almost guarantee QTE

really. so your bright idea is that rad after taking so much flak for qtes that they had their own30+ min gameplay demo is going to go up on stage at psx and say teasing new gameplay and tease a friggin qte ...

Considering every single gameplay footage we've seen so far (including the ones they've specifically chosen to release) has included copious amounts of QTEs... er "cinematic gameplay moments".... I'm not sure why you would expect otherwise.

Correct.

Just from looking at it you can see several cuts have been made to hide the parts where you choose to press a QTE, there's really no other reason for it to have so many missing frames.
This man gets it.

Maaannn, people going insane over the visuals in this footage.

Just wait until February and you see some real setpieces.

Dude u gotta stop the wait is too long.

Do the pots and pans get dents and or holes in them when they are being shot? I cant tell on my mobile.

I've been looking really closely for exactly that and can't see, everything is moving too quickly. I would hope so. I feel like I remember hearing everything that moves in the game has the soft-bodied physics.

I think they said there were gonna be destructible bits, but not everything no.

There still seemed to be way too many moments where the player isn't doing anything except holding a controller and moments that did require input that were not very interesting. I hope they know what they are doing because to me it looks like it could have done with some outside feedback during development. I still can't get over they have finicky lock picking mini games which are about as fun and interesting as pathological haemorrhoids.

Dont see how its any different from picking locks or hacking terminals in countless other games.

This game looks so awesome, this gameplay just pushed my hype levels way up, gunplay looks fantastic and the seamless cut from gameplay to cinematics is awesome. I also might be alone but I don't mind doing a QTE as long as the visual results are worth it (This game seems to do them right imo).

I feel like a complete jackass for not paying attention to that, I was so blown away by the damn zeppelin material physics and how good everything felt. I really cannot answer that question.

Funny thing is after having played this demo listening to the views of people who haven't. If they can keep a similar pace while introducing larger combat areas and exceptional set pieces this will easily be a game of the year contender. The stealth isn't bad its just very limited in its execution and could use a bit of tweaking. Galahads footsteps while "sneaking" are hilariously loud. That could also stand to be addressed but those are very minor nitpicks when the rest of the package is so damn good.

Also they never said "everything" in the game was destructible I believe they did however say that everything was rendered with soft body physics and there would be small and larger scale destruction. We were also told there are "several" open areas.

Two more months .... I cannot wait.

Looked so fluid and was without button prompts, though. All the other footage that showed QTEs also showed button prompts.

Also why would they make a special melee combat announcement if its only QTEs?
Did you notice all the quick cuts to black in that sequence? My guess is that was done to hide the QTE prompts.

Watching this on my TV now, and this game is just insane visually. My jaw already dropped during the of-screen footage, and this direct feed vid has soooo much more detail, I'll definitely fuck with this game.

But why would they do that? They haven't hidden the fact that there's QTEs in this game before. I'm guessing it's similar to some of the up close melee segments in GoW Ascension where you dodge and attack when there's an opening.

Good point. But then I wonder, why would they show this scene only to blatantly hide a potentially new and interesting gameplay mechanic? I don't know, but based on what I've seen so far, I'm going to assume that it's just more QTE.

Then why keep showing QTE's elsewhere?

I meant after the backlash for showing QTEs previously...they may have decided to hide them from that clip...? We also don't see any or much in the (newer?) gamersyde footage from what I remember.

I'm not 100% clear on the timings of what they've shown, just going by this post:

I'll tell you what; damn how the game plays, I'm going to die a thousand times just because I'm transfixed by the sheer elegance and beauty of how that fight looks.

Why show it at all if they're afraid we might not like the way it really is?
That why the just created expectations and people will be disappointed if those fights turn out to be QTEs.

I could see it beeing like the QTE fights in God Of War, but I could also see it beeing more interactive like a really melee system like in dark souls.

Which games? More to the point in which games were they interesting or fun and do you think the lock picking mini games in The Order look interesting or fun? Using your logic they should throw in some rage inducing escort missions and an underwater section with shit controls because they are "in countless other games".

I can fully understand your point actually, and I'd probably agree. But, playing Dragon Age, I found myself so used to the lockpicking of Skyrim that when one of my party just bent down and jiggled at a door and it opened**, I actually found myself taken out of the game somewhat compared to the mechanics mentioned.

Just my opinion obviously, but something I'd have never thought.

Ok maybe not COUNTLESS other games but Oblivion, Skyrim, Deus ex games, Splinter Ceill, Kingdoms of Amalur, System Shock, Mass Effect,Thief games, Watchdogs, Warframe and more that have some sort of lockpicking or hacking. I just dont think any of them are as bad as "pathological haemorrhoids".

Edit: The lockpicking in the Order IMO looks more "fun" than any of the ones I listed and they are all decent to great games nonetheless. I just hope not every other door needs you to pick the lock.

Currently studying History at university and have been a fan of the zombie genre since Resident Evil 2, so when I first heard about this game and how it would be mixing history and zombies, I knew it had to be good! The footage looks great, can't wait to see more and maybe get my hands on it soon after it releases!

zombies? I have yet to see any zombies whatsoever. All they've shown is werewolves/lycans

I don't think there are zombies
