The Order 1886: 15 mn of B Roll gameplay video (direct feed)

Currently studying History at university and have been a fan of the zombie genre since Resident Evil 2, so when I first heard about this game and how it would be mixing history and zombies, I knew it had to be good! The footage looks great, can't wait to see more and maybe get my hands on it soon after it releases!
Its Lycans not zombies though meng.

I'm really glad it's not zombies.

Vampires have been popular recently. Zombies have been popular for way too long. The next race of creatures that needs the spotlight once more is werewolves.

This game's absolutely stunning. I just wish the actual game part was more up my alley. Not a fan of third-person cover shooters, with or without QTEs. I'll definitely be checking it out on a stream or let's play though, for the full cinematic experience.

the lockpicking and other minigames serve to show off the technology of the times and to control pacing. the electricity shortener looks like a 1886 era bond gadget, which is cool. also, right after using it we start stealthing and not too long after lockpicking we had the shootout. i don't think a player is supposed to have any strong feelings, good or bad, toward the minigames. but it all helps to break up the potential monotony of things. instead of feeling like run->fight->run->fight, it'll feel like run->circuit breaking->fight->lockpick->run->fight. it's like the water platform and ladder "puzzles" in tlou. i don't think anyone praises nd for these puzzles. but without them i think you'll find that you've reached the next section all too fast without doing much in between.

The door unlocking minigame in The Order is way less tedious than those awful puzzles in TLOU.

Are you seriously kidding right now?

For essentially the entire from time when the game was announced until now they showed

1. Hilariously inept demo in some corridor against some boring pop-box enemies doing nothing of interest. Which they kept re-demoing, like eighty times throughout the year with journalists (who kept writing they didn't enjoy the demo, like so many others did)

2. A few clips of QTE scenes with werewolves, a few hints of its horror elements.

3. That other trailer which was again basically cinematic tripe that didn't inform anyone exactly what things this game was going to be doing from a gameplay perspective.

4. This latest 2 minute snippet of gameplay from PSX, in which there was an actual 30 minute demo on the floor that tons of being loved but NOPE, can't watch! Two months out from release.

If you don't realize the intense skepticism and why it has been going on, that's your jig.
how many times do we talk about how small the actual forum community is compared to users who go out and just buy games?

Who cares if your skeptical man, no offense, but the market isn't dictated by what GAF/Reddit think of a game.

This comcast guy who plays game said The Order looks absolutely amazing, he doesn't visit GAF, he doesn't read reviews. If the game comes out and he sees a commercial for it, and some nice scores are advertised, or his friends tell him about it, he's going to purchase the title--period.

I think you are greatly over exaggerating on The Order's reveals so far. DC is the biggest f'up of all time according to many people posts here, yet it'll probably sell more than Forza and Sunset Overdrive.

The Order is fine, if the game is well done, it'll sell on it's graphics.

The video says its in 60 fps but it's actually just 30 reencoded so SVP wasn't working on it properly but selecting drop every other frame interpolaced it to real 60 fps and Jesus Fucking Christ, that's the best looking game I've seen period.

since you've played the whole campaign and can confirm there's less of that mini game than the 10-15 minutes in TLOU's campaign dedicated to those puzzles, how would you rate The Order?

Why so hostile?

The door opening minigame with the Tesla magnet device appeared twice in the 30 minute demo I played, and I blew through it in less than 10 seconds both times. Calm down.

Unfortunately, it's not only on GAF. The community on IGN, Gamespot and other big websites has the same impression and if you watch any The Order video on Youtube and go to the comments, you'll only find people calling this game a movie.

Sony's incompetence might have damaged this game beyond repair.

Word of mouth is the strongest driver of sales, studies show. What drives word of mouth in this industry is hardcore gamers, which then filter down to their friends and family members who are also consumers who might potentially be interesting in a gaming system. It matters how you present and continue to present your game to the world. And Sony has been missing the ball pretty darn hard in terms of this piece of software and how they've been unveiling it to the world.

Doesn't mean it will not overcome that rocky start, but... welll...

...In any event, the footage is absolutely everywhere now, so it'll do the marketing for Sony ;P

Doesn't mean it will not overcome that rocky start, doesn't mean that it will be a bad game or anything. But it does mean Sony is artificially handicapping their product, when they could be getting people really talking. They keep missing opportunities like that for The Order: 1886. And that means it increases the odds of it not doing particularly well at market.

I have a hunch that the gif SunhiLegend posted is going to get a lot of mileage.

They really need to work on the camera. The player can't see around the corner quick enough to react to anything and renders him vulnerable.

I am trying to wrap my head around the negativity the game has garnered. It hasn't done anything that another TPS hasn't done before, the biggest difference is that it isn't hiding the fact it is intended as an extremely story-driven cinematic-like experience. It almost feels like people are still mad about those cinematic comments about fps.

Did Asura's Wrath get this much negativity for being largely a sweet anime show with gameplay sections?

This is like a Gears meets Telltale game. Only things missing are an autoplay and fast forward/rewind option. This would be even better with long dramatic emotional dialogue from famous Hollywood talent.

I had lost hype for this game for awhile, not because of the negativity or press previews but because lack of info/footage. I'm fucking waaaaaaay back in, all cylinders firing after watching the b-roll stuff.

Yes, I know it's "just" a TPS from a gameplay perspective. Still looks like it will be a fun, graphically unmatched, romp.

Clash between what everyone expected and what's reality. People saw this as one of the premiere titles for next-gen...so when the footage showed off is basically Uncharted with top hats, they got down on the game.

Personally, I'm as hyped as before.

It looks good.

If the fidelity holds up consistently then for now this can take the cake for visuals for this gen. of consoles.

I hope the overall game turns out well. So far, the seamless integration between cutscene and actual gameplay and the frequency of such events make it somewhere between a traditional third person shooter and a David Cage game (from footages displayed thus far). It will definitely find its audience (I'll most likely be one of them).

does anyone know if there is gore in this game..? like severed limbs/heads when the enemies are shot..?

You can blow people's heads off with the shotgun. And pulverise them into a mist with that "lightning" gun or whatever it is. Also set live people on fire too.
