Huh, a lot of those shots don't feel like Malick then the other half is unmistakably Malick. Excited either way.

Needs more trees though.

Holy shit that looks good. Got some 8 1/2 vibes from it. Also, I need that trailer music.
I was getting more of a La Dolce Vita vibe personally. Based on it's portrayal of excessive debauchery, of course unlike that film, I bet Knights of Cup will conclude in a manner in which the protagonist does find spiritual meaning.

This looks like a work of Malick I might enjoy. I can't stand the Thin Red Line and his other stuff has been good but not particularly memorable for me. I would say The New World has been the one I most enjoyed of his work.

Bale in a Malick movie? HOLY SHIT!

Malick's camera work is the best in the biz. His shots are breathtaking.

Bale was in The New World lol

Oh, that's a good call, I was mainly gravitating toward the 8 1/2 comparison because of the Hollywood/filmmaker/actor angle, but La Dolce Vita seems like a better reference point.

I was pretty disappointed with To The Wonder too, it really nothing for me, but The Tree of Life is a masterpiece, I love The New World, and eventually came around (lol) on The Thin Red Line, so I'm in for this day one.

Asserting that people who like movies you don't like must be putting on an act -- i.e. only movies you like must be good, and anything else must suck -- is in of itself extremely pretentious.

Please check out Days of Heaven.

Brian Dennehy and lots of ocean/water shots? Clearly this is the arthouse rebooting of Cocoon I've been waiting for all these years.

I was introduced to Terrence through The Thin Red Line. Easily one of the best films I have ever seen. I have been dying to see Tree of Life, but have yet to get to it.

the new world is arguably the greatest film of all-time.

Naw bruh.

Trailer looks hot though. Hopefully this is a return to form, cause his last two films - especially the most recent - were straight up unwashed ass cheeks.

I hope it's better than To The Wonder.

That said, Lafiel, I fucking laughed out loud when I saw the girl running away from the camera barefoot on the beach. Malick just can't help himself now. lol

What was that trailer getting at? I'm sure it's my own ignorance or not being at that "level" but I couldn't make heads or tails of the plot.

Guy is an actor and has to get away from the hardship of being financially stable, and the only person to make him feel alive is Natalie Portman?

There is no plot, just enjoy the ride.

high life delusion, growing distant from normal folks like your wife, and how to find the meaning of life with a 11mm angle

Seemed pretty obvious. The high life, fame, and an outrageous lifestyle has made him a man out of touch with the regular realities and pleasures of life. So much so that what he tries to get from life isn't the truth but another fictionalized version of it. He has to get back on the ground with himself and others around his so he can become a whole real person again.
