The Order: 1886 trailer - "Silent Night"

Trailer was fine. Not sure why some people are suddenly surprised The Order looks like a contender for best-looking game in history. It always was.

The only question is whether to buy the game new or used, and reviews will be the answer.

Marvelous looking, gameplay was average at best at gamescom and nothing I've seen since has made me change my idea. We'll see

If I'd graph my excitement for this game it would be quite a roller coaster.
I think my enjoyment of this game will mainly hinge upon how much the story speaks to me.

This is the game that I will be buying a PS4 for. This, and that digital copy of Last of Us I got for $18 a few weeks back (didn't have a PS3 last gen).

Pretty hyped for The Order; hope it delivers.

Really don't like trailers who put a song in the background playing trying to make the game look all dramatic and stuff. Why can't we get a normal gameplay trailer with in game soundtrack?

Christmas song for a christmas trailer. That's so logical it makes my head hurt trying to understand why it wouldn't fit. Heck even Jingle all the way would fit with a lot of blood and gore. "Jingle bell swing *blade swings* *head rolls off*"

The Order looks insanely good, and the gunplay looks solid.
Im worried about length and replay value.
Will this be a 6-8 hour game and once finished you dump it into a corner to never look at it again.....then no buy.

I can't wait for this game guys im soo excited! This trailer hit me with some vibes

Got a $100 gift card to gamestop for Christmas, its going to the
pre
Order 1886 no doubt

Looks great. That's all I can say really, I'm still very much not feeling it as a game, I just see it as a pretty visuals simulator at this point, and no trailer has done anything to change my mind so far.

You mean to tell me there's no way to write a story base around fighting monsters?

Because I can certainly point out a few games with bad/boring stories base around fighting humans.
Sure there is, but I just want to play the game, I'm not going to throw the game in the bushes because you want non stop monsters

The first Uncharted I fought humans for 90% of the time, the monsters was a nice touch

What's with all the false equivalency?

All I said was what happened to the focus on the half breed, something that they shown in the very first teaser that got everyone interested because it's something that set itself apart from your typical shooter. And might I remind you, it's still the main part of the synopsis where they talk about the Order fighting half breeds, yet majority of the footage they have shown since then is "Rebel down!"

Also your Uncharted comparison is flawed- it wasn't part of what was advertise.

Finally a shot of the city streets!

Also, holy fuck at the lighting when Galahad and Igraine are walking into that courtyard. It looks incredibly natural.

The concrete explosions looked very accurate too. Finally a look at some of the more apparent destruction.

Great trailer, loved both song and editing, but that last clip? Please let this not be a spoiler... -_-
I doubt it is. RaD hasn't even shown a single set piece moment from this game because they're avoiding spoilers. We've seen her with scars in the artwork and the area looks reminiscent of the first encounter with the Lycans that they've shown, which is before the airship we saw at PSX.

Just damn.... they actually do have outdoors scenes (never doubted them) and it looks like we will be visiting the Tube. Cannot wait already have the premium edition paid off..... wanted the vial and artbook.

No matter what the final quality turns out to be, it looks like a game you need to play just for the graphics alone.

i think i've played too many 'just play it for the graphics even though the game sucks' games to get excited about that possibility again

What games with amazing graphics have sucked? Just curios. Aside from say Crysis 3 (haven't played but I heard it was a disappointment)

Killzone 2 and Shadow Fall, Crysis, Far Cry, AC Unity. That's just the ones I've played, off the top of my head. Gears of War and Gears of War 2 were also very pretty, but I thought they were incredibly tedious and boring.

I'm just past a point now where 'great graphics' is enough to keep me interested if the game is boring or just plain bad.

In that list you literally named 2 of the best first person shooter games ever made.

Crysis and Killzone 2 are untouchable achievements in the FPS genre. Mechanics, AI, immersion, etc. All at the very top of their game.

Far Cry was also great until the creatures came.

Shadowfall is underrated, but not amazing.

AC Unity I have heard is indeed shit only worth playing for the graphics. And only then if you like low framerates and pop in...

Killzone 2 is awful, C-grade COD-wannabe dross with characters that feel like they're wading through waist-high treacle, and some of the least imaginative mechanics and level design in gamedom. I paid £10 for it and still felt ripped-off.

Crysis maybe I'll give you. It didn't really click with me, but I know a lot of people appreciate it.

Killzone 2 is regarded as one of the best shooters of last gen.
Far Cry 4 is loved beyond just its visuals.

AC Unity doesn't have good visuals. It runs at sub HD and sub 30 fps. That's not good.
If it at least hit a consistent 30, then the game might actually be pretty good.

And yeah, Gears of War and Gears of War 2 are loved because of their gameplay. That's what has made the sequels so attractive. Horde Mode, Online mode, and Co Op campaign are all very well beloved.

I think you're just confusing "games you don't like" with "games with good graphics and bad gameplay"

We can all point to games that we don't care for that are visual lookers.
But some of the games you listed have very sizable fanbases for their gameplay.

Regardless of whether the games I've listed are actually bad, or whether I just didn't like them, that really makes no difference to the fact that they were games that I played, which I didn't enjoy for their gameplay, but which were all hands-down visually stunning. I even went into Shadow Fall, assuming that I wouldn't enjoy the gameplay, but thinking that I wanted to see what my shiny new PS4 was capable of.

And because of my experiences with those games, I'm done with playing games that are visually impressive, but which I don't enjoy actually playing. It's a waste of my time and money.

I agree there. I'm not playing games just for a visual experience. There has to be a hook. It has to be fun. That's why we game. To have fun.

Edit:

And that's why I'm sympathetic to the concerns of the game being too focused on cinematics to the point where it interrupts gameplay or lacks focus on gameplay.
I however think the game will be quite fun and engaging!

I love how when each big sony exclusive comes out, its just pushing graphics beyond.. First kzsf, then infamous ss, driveclub and now next up is the order 1886. What next Ratchet and Clank PS4 ?

Well, I don't want to have yet another fight about The Order and get branded as another 'hater', but previews like Metro's don't fill me with hope.

It's a shame because I would like for this game to be good, because I'm hurting for games to play on my PS4, and I'd like to experience the face-melting graphics without having to drag myself through a chore of a game.

Lets use obvious click bait articles and ignore all of the good reviews of the game from various people who have actually played it.

Does anyone know where I can find the music found in the background of this trailer? That specific version of silent night and not the original of course

Interested in the game, have had the LE pre-ordered for a while now.

But I have to say that I find the choice of song for the trailer pretty fowl as I doubt that the religious part of Christmas has anything to do with the Order: 1866.

Poor form in my opinion.

I'm happy many more gaffers are seeing just how amazing The Order 1886 is gonna be. I got the Premium Edition of The Order 1886, pre ordered in full! That Lycan statue looks awesome!
