LIZARD SQUAD is Back. Planning XBL Attack. "Biggest attack yet". [UP: XBL/PSN Down]

Sure, keep giving the attention seekers what they want with a 68 page thread on Gaf. If people stopped blowing up about it, there's a good chance they wouldn't even bother putting themselves out to do it. All they want is the reaction. Sure it's frustrating, but get over it.

It's the classic formula.
You just contributed to the size of the thread...

Yes, Kim. Let's just incentivize this kind of activity. Assholes from all over will see that they can get rewarded and will start going into business together in order to hold services up for ransom.

He's the guy who started mega upload. He wanted to appease them to get them to stop by giving them mega upload vouchers since he's too broke to give anything of real value now. Probably so that he can go back to playing cod too

Ok I understand, thanks for the explanation. IMO a bad idea to offer bribes to people to stop breaking the law. Video games are immensely popular and important to many, but all bribing will do is send the message for this to be done again to get free things/have demands met. The alternative is not fun for anyone either, which would be to endure this until it stops, they are caught, laws change/become more aggressive regarding cyber terrorism, etc.

So this is the reason i cant play DAi? these devs need to stop with the "connecting to servers" nonsense even for the single player.

If DA:I works anything like Mass Effect 3 did on the 360, turn off your consoles connection to your internet, and when loading the game up it will skip straight past that "connecting to servers" part and take you to the main menu.

It's always notable when local news covers video games. It's even more notable when both of the local TV stations cover video games.

Sadly, yesterday's "hack" is one of those times. Whole lotta hackin' goin' on, if you take these stories as they're reported.

The fact that they are all over the news only help their ego grow even more.

How difficult would it be to find them if a very competent group was looking for them?if DDoS cant be really prevented, then you attack the root of the problem, as far as I have seen from post here, stoping DDoS is imposible, so Finding the people responsible shouldnt be. Have Lian Nesson to do the job.

Why is PSN and XBL security so bad anyway?

This is barely related to security unless you are talking about the topic in a broad way related to other comp sec issues. This is something that any network is susceptible to. They werent hacked, they were hit with an inordinate amount of traffic

Wait, if these kids take some sort of incentive to stop the DDoS, doesnt that make the whole act extortion and, therefore, easier to punish by law?

What they have done is already punishable by law. I dont know if this will count towards extortion since someone offered it to them willingly and they didnt ask as a requirement to stop it. But if they are caught it will definitely cost them

What, how did they get so many followers then? Just with fake comments? That'd be hilarious.
One of them has 155k followers...

That GDKJordie account was the same one Finest Squad kept quoting with him tweeting "the police are at my door". I don't think that really happened. I could be wrong though.

Hopefully Anon posts another pic and address. Hopefully a crazed fan will get to one of them and give them a reason to stop forever.

Damn, it's been unstable/offline for the past 24 hours. Surely there will be compensation to follow?

I would hope there would be from both Microsoft and Sony. We pay for these services, it's Christmas and people want to update new consoles, buy content and play online. There absolutely should be compensation.

So, I woke up this morning and on a whim, wanted to go buy a PS4. I take it, if I go and buy one right now, I wont even be able to set it up when I get home?

Hoping for actual violence against someone who's disrupting your video games seems even more immature than script kiddies disrupting video games.

Look people who are saying I'm overreacting need to think about personal circumstances. I work god Damn 50+ hours a week, I have a disabled autistic daughter who requires a lot of care and attention and my way of relaxing is it take myself away for a couple of hours to a world like gta or COD. Xmas has afforded me a few extra hours and this is what I get. Of course I'm angry

Yep, violence is not the answer. They're all cowards at heart..hence why they're doing it anonymously. If they got exposed and found they'd be begging for forgiveness. It's a dangerous and foolish game putting yourself and family at risk like that.

So Microsoft and Sony should compensate us for being the victims of an attack that they can really in no way prevent?

Maybe he meant having the authorities head there? Aside from this some members have expressed terrorist leanings, so yeah, that's another good reason to get rid of this group through law enforcement.

You will be able to play (disc based) games if that's what you're asking, but probably won't be able to sign in with your psn or download the latest update
