I'm getting a completely different error now. Instead of it saying can't connect to PSN now it doesn't even attempt to login it goes directly to "connection to the server has been lost" .

There isn't really all that much for them to fix though. Perhaps when the script kiddies get bored, then we will get to play online.

Not sure, I've only been on psn for a few weeks, but generally gratis is the standard term for stuff that's free.

Two public DDoS tracking sites both showed large-scale DDoS attacks against the US yesterday, that started up right when LIzardSquad said they were starting. It fit with their MO, as they've done this several times before - during non-peak times - where they took down Steam, most MMOs, XBL and PSN. It might be coincidence, but there is plenty of evidence to suggest that someone is controlling a botnet and told it to DDoS PSN and XBL yesterday.

How the hell are Lizard Squad not banned from Twitter yet? Twitter are allowing them to promote and brag about this shit with no repercussions.

MS and Sony need to prevent this from happening again as its pretty out of order now. I don't pay for this shit to be down on major holidays.

I was using google to find out anything on the matter not twitter. But you have a point it was premature on my part when they did say something.

I don't really expect much details as their hands are tied so that's a given.
 
Any other Dutch people can try and get in on PS3? Downloaded a whole system update fine, then it told me it had downloads to start in the store, but can't login to psn or access the actual store still.
 
also, i hope people remember these events when governmental forces are pushing for a "closed/policed" internet environment and companies like sony are supporting it

this is gonna end badly for everyone

just fyi, this is super fake, you can check the ip in the hosts file (94.102.60.171), its on the ecatel NL network which is notoriously famous for hosting malware, the same network a lot of these guys use to ddos since ecatel doesn't enforce BCP 38 (ingress filtering).

also the host file was generated by solusvm (a openvz/kvm vps control panel used by a lot of amateur hosting providers that costs $10) which i highly doubt sony would use lol... and to top it all off the server runs zPanel which is highly vulnerable and easily exploitable (many public unpatched CVEs)

I can confirm no versions are free in Canada. Im pretty sure this is just people taking advantage of the clusterfuck for the "lulz".

What I don't understand is why this Jordie character is seemingly doing this to gain followers, I am not that understanding of social media, but why is gaining followers worth doing something like this?

What kind of entitlement. If they should be giving anyone anything, they should extend PS+ subscriptions by the amount of downtime. Nothing else.

three months ago I would have told you the internet should not be regulated and ISPs should not tier their connections and limit what we can do with it. After today, I feel like we as a free market ruined the beauty of the internet and now it HAS to be regulated by the government just so we can use it.

I got kicked out and so did all my friends just now, so it might be that sony is up to something...
Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. was playing all day yesterday too, and today I had over 15 hours of Destiny play so I need the rest :)

I ended up ordering Unity on Amazon to play over the next few days and New Years in case this happens again. As someone who went all digital... I can only use one PS4 for games atm. Sucks.

I have to mention that after the release of Destiny the store had two entries of Destiny. The actual digital guardian edition and one for the early pre-orders. For the longest time the other edition would just show as "can't purchase", but about a month after the release of Destiny it showed the other "newer" entry as free. So it could be just that.
