Resident Evil HD Remaster confirmed for PS3/PS4/360/XB1/PC

abload.de doesn't compress the image, if you are looking for a lossless image host better than minus.

I just tried it, and it does seem to compress the image, its originally 2.6mb.

One thing I hope they do is throw alternate game skins in for the lulz. Like in RE3 where we could run around as RE1 Jill or Regina from Dino Crisis; I kind-of want to run around the Spencer Mansion as RE3 Jill.

From the get go, same thing for Jill's RE5 costume.

Nope, I finished the game once and got Jill's army outfit. I guess I'll need to finish it once more to get the RE3 alt.

I wish someone would mod nemesis into this game. That guy terrified me; he could run faster than you, open doors and do devastating damage. He makes the tyrant look like a Choirboy.

I'm sure something could be doable, after all there is a good looking, REmake-style Nemesis model in Umbrella Chronicles.

Someone could rip the model and slap in instead of the Tyrant one in REmake. Though I'm only speculating and I'm aware that this is something really easier said than done. :P

Just received my copy.

I like the new control, it makes it a lot easier to dodge zombies. Some areas look a lot improved while others look quite embarrassing.

They ruined two songs by making it sound faster or higher pitched.

Kinda reminds me of what happened to some songs in Silent Hill HD Collection, some songs were the same, they were just faster or higher pitched.

Man can they just release the game already for USA please lol. I am really looking forward to replay this again.

What are the chances of capcom releasing part 2 and 3 with same kind of remake as 1? I know those two were never remade like part 1 so I think chances are slim to none. What you guys think?

I was looking at the trophies for this game and most of them are doable. One of them though requires a knife only run so I wss wondering how hard that is?

Anyone know if you get the PS3 theme of you pre order the PS4 version? I'll just just pre order the PS3 version if that's not the case.
I will pre-order around a day before release probably.
Is the game pre-load?

Every PS3/4 game is.

I read that trophy was added in because the new control mode makes it actually reasonably possible.

It'll still be tough, but it's not nearly impossible.

Whats the new control mode?

Direct control mode. It replaces tank controls.
Instead of
up being walk forward,
down walk backward,
left being turn left,
right being turn right

it is

up moves character up
down moves character down
left moves character left
right moves character right

And this is all relative to your viewpoint. So no turning animations, and you can instantly run backward from the way you were facing. Think more like Devil May Cry or something.

The story behind this is so freakin' bizarre.

To those saying the music is different - I can't hear it. It all sounds identical to me. The "Guardhouse II" is the only track that sounded a little different, like they added ambient sound effects to it and nothing more.

Anyway, what is the story behind it and why is it bizarre?

I assume you mean changed from PS1 original here? Not from remake to HD remake.

One of my few criticisms of REmake compared to the original is the soundtrack. I'd say for 70% of tracks I prefer the original version. And its missing one of the best ones entirely https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sITJuWV3HXg (which became the worst one in series history in directors cut as linked above). When I get this I kinda want to mod the original OST back in if possible.

The soundtrack in the dual shock version of Director's Cut is completely different, and the majority of the tracks are absolute garbage. Back in february it was revealed that the composer, who is completely deaf, was paying someone for the last 20 years to write music for him, which coincides with the new OST...

Sounds great! Thanks for the replies. I have only played Resident Evil 4,5, and 6 so I look forward to seeing where this series began!

Also, he wasn't really completly deaf, he just couldn't write music.

Still doesn't really explain that song, I mean his ghost writer was appearently still a good composer. And there are a handful of actually decent tracks in the dualshock version.

I think something just went horribly wrong with the conversion to the PS1 sound format.

Did the PS4 version get a physical release in Japan? I can't seem to find it on Play-asia.

$19.99 is a great price. I spent $40-50 for the PS3 CE but I'm a collector and don't really like digital. When that goes 75% off though I will probably get it on PC assuming that is $19.99 too.

He's actually deaf and used a ghost writer for some of the pieces under his name around the same time.

So, some of the stranger pieces like THIS takes a whole new meaning when you re-think about it. I remember being puzzled when I first heard those.

That explains it. Thank you. I thought Japan would embrace a physical copy of the PS4 version too.

Even Japanese sales trends are migrating towards having PS4 versions outselling last gen for cross generational titles.

Hopefully with the indication of Resident Evil 0 receiving an HD treatment, I suppose it wouldn't be too ludicrous to ponder the possibility of a physical PS3/4 bundle of these remasters for those with eternal patience. I'm probably sounding like a broken record on the topic, but Capcom is certainly strange with their retail releases. I still can't fathom why DuckTales: Remastered obtained the physical treatment over Okami HD, Resident Evil 4, RE: Code Veronica X, and the Strider reboot. As a side note, I'm really not knocking the NES re-imagining when it was amongst my favorite releases last year, but I figured the later titles would be much more critical and financial viable to possibly warrant gracing the shelves.

yea, I was fortunate to be living in singapore at the time so I was able to get the physical copy of the CVX/RE4 remasters but the files in game are in japanese and the awesome booklet that it came with is entirely in japanese. I want some english treatment for these RE collector sets.

No, there's a bug or oversight with the music in REmaster. A lot of it has the wrong sample rate, making it too fast and too high pitched.

It actually took a while before I noticed it (I probably never paid much attention to the music in REmake), but this is the scene where it became super obvious to me:
REmake: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpp4CpyeWjo#t=5m44s
REmaster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGvajuZkmDo

Edit: There's actually another bug there when I see the scenes side by side, Rebecca's pose looks wrong at the end of the scene, as if she wasn't rigged correctly in REmaster. They've finetuned and improved a lot of the cutscene animations in REmaster, but I guess that's an instance where it became slightly worse.

Anyway, I hope Capcom will fix the music bug. It's worrisome not many people are talking about it (I can't blame them, it took surprisingly long before I noticed it), it makes me think Capcom themselves might not be aware of it either.

Really angry that they changed the music. Why do they have to fuck with shit Lucas style?

Yeah they should really stop that. Didn't they learn from the Dual Shock Failure.
REmaster was/is/will be a masterpiece. No need to change things around. And if you do ... give the option to players to chose versions (Menu: Soundtrack A or B ... like with the new controls)

They better fix that glitch with the music with the release of the North American version. I hate it! And yeah I also think they're not even aware of it.
