I think AR needs to be toned down a tad. Specifically the range.

Yeah, I'm killing people scoped in with it at almost BR/mid range. Slight nerf to range. SMG scoped is almost a power weapon. Just nothing you can do to someone who has one in a smaller room.

Played some games. Started out ok, but was quickly matched together with people who played like this was their first time holding a controller, while the other team was coordinated and had good aim.
The game plays like a weird hybrid of Halo, COD and a bit of Titanfall. Controls felt somewhat sluggish to me and aiming felt slightly "off". It's hard to explain what's wrong with it really, but first impressions are not good.
I did however like the pistol. Very viable again which is great.

I think 343 should really get the sniper out of empire as the power weapon, let us see the shotgun!

Plus, it would be an awesome counter for the SMG.

Aiming feels perfect to me.

Does anyone feel like sometimes a match can have more delay on things then others? like the server you are given is random from location to location.

Example, being shot through walls from your perspective, usually related to being a little laggy, or shooting someone so much with their shields not popping like your damage delt to them is delayed too.

No match has been like the other yet, that medium ping delay can make or break a good match.

Thrusters are way fucking worse than sprint so not sure what the complaining is about. At least there is an actual downside to sprinting.

There's less aim assist, that's what is "off".

No auto-aim is going to take a while to adjust to I think.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. I don't know if it's the auto aim or that Halo 5 is just a much faster game.

I originally set it to 5...it was crazy fast compared to the older games.

I put it back to 3, which is default, and I'm still missing many of my shots. I think auto aim has spoiled some of us.

LOL, this is what I've been trying to say for a while. The inclusion of Sprint and ADS don't really effect the way this game is played that much with respect to previous Halo's.

Thrusters on the other hand changes the game entirely, If people are going to complain about something why sprint and ADS? why not Thrusters?

I feel like people see Sprint and ADS as something that CoD is famous for and therefore it doesn't belong in this game. I just can't get on board with this mindset.

I haven't played a competitive multilplayer in years (played some titanfall and TLOU) but this felt very very good. It plays like I remember halo 2 feeling back in the day. But quicker, more accurate. They have a year to tune this up? It's going to be epic...

Certainly is but in the end it should create a decent skill gap between players. Funnily enough COD would never ever even dare take away auto aim, it would piss off about 90% of the games fanbase.

Bro there is plenty of auto aim they just implemented it differently.

Why??

So Halo can go back to being a single weapon (BR) game?

No fucking way. I really hope 343i keeps automatics as they are.

+1 this.

The SMG is really bad outside of close range, it should beat other things at that range.

The AR is comfortably in the "workhorse" range which it should be. It will lose to BR and DMR at midrange all other things being equal. It might need a very slight nerf to range, but the current maps are small and it might be a lot worse on larger maps.

Overall I think it is great that every match isn't a BR-fest. I can't play MCC because every single person always votes for BR-Slayer. It is nice to have some variety for a while. The precision weapons are still more powerful. People who are just used to the only good weapon being the BR since H2 need to readjust.

I think my only real complaint is the range of the automatics when scoped in, especially the SMG. That tightened spread is pretty crazy. Wouldn't mind if they toned it down a little bit.

Just played my first three matches.

This game is incredibly fun and a HUGE upgrade from Halo 4. Controls very well with the Halo 4 control configuration (why isn't it the default?)

For some reason, I perform far better in Halo 5 than I do with the other games in the collection. Feels just right.

The only complaints I can think of are power weapon timers and the shitty music that plays at the end of the match.

Not really feeling it. I'm getting absolutely stomped and headshotted before I can even get a shot in.

Need to play more.

What's the the best control scheme that's similar to Halo 4?

I agree with everything you said here.

I think people that are opposed to the AR being viable are just mad because less skilled players or just people that cant use the BR now have a fighting chance if they position themselves right. However a skilled BR/pistol player win's this battle anytime anyways.

It feels like the people complaining how the shotgun wasn't the only viable weapon in Gears 2... as someone who was always terrible with the shotgun in Gears this was a welcome change.

SMG is its own beast, from range its pretty terrible... the worst weapon in the game probably but up close it rips up Spartans pretty good... In that respect its quite similar to the Shotgun and when I do get the SMG I look to get the enemy players in tight quarters to take advantage of it.

I also wouldn't be opposed to the AR being nerfed at range. But I think that's just because Im used to the AR being absolutely awful at anything farther then 10 feet.

I think the AR feels OP because of the reduced auto aim. Precision weapons need auto aim more than automatic ones. Combine that with the AR buff compared to past halo games and you can see why people complain.

Personally I think it's great the way it is.

That's how I felt at first.

After about 3 hours I started feeling it way more.

I'm using default for controller settings and it feels similar to Halo 4.
