Okay guys, I pulled the trigger. Got Wii Fit Trainer, Marth and Villager as well as Fox on Ebay.

I ended up piecing out each one. Villager was the most expensive at $65.

BUT I have everything completed. Best part, they all get here on my freakin Birthday. So now I just have to be vigilant and not miss any of the Feb Wave. I know I over payed. But oh well. I mean, I went through the worst year of my life. I'm happy to be alive. These make me really happy. And I'm okay paying to be happy (well...even if it's a bit much). Thanks for all the encouragement, and you guys being so welcoming. It honestly means more then you guys could ever know.

Let the Amiibo hunt feel you with joy! I suggest opening those boxes and letting toys be toys. As Spock and Sheldon said on Big Bang Theory, the purpose of a toy is to be played with. Thank you for the kind words. I honestly wasn't going to post on GAF for a couple months. But I just found myself really having a blast going out on Amiibo runs. And collecting these are making me happy. And I saw this thread. And I just figured, fuck it. As long as I stay in this little community, I feel it's kind of a haven for me. You guys/gals seem so nice and welcoming. It means so much to me.

EDIT: I agree with you. Whenever I buy things, I almost always just use them for me. I don't really collect things for like some future value. Life is too short (I know that more then anyone with my recent fight with cancer). I just want to live in the moment and enjoy things. That's why when I got the limited edition PS4, I just opened that baby up and played it. I really love having these on my shelf to look at. Looking at them, makes me happy. Nintendo has always been a huge part of my life. So that is why I'm getting them. But you are right, I think I'll open them to use them on my Wii U Smash as well as display them.

The only reason I kept them in the box up to this point, is I actually liked the way the box look (the little bubble that they sit in). And I like the Amiibo logo. So they have been in all in the box sitting on my shelf I just built. But I do think I want to use them. So I'll probably just remove the box and just have the figures sit on the shelf by themselves so I can use them in my game.

Yes, Amazon, GameStop, Walmart, Target and Toys R Us are selling Amiibo. Also there are few other stores that are selling it as well, like FYE, etc.

Yeah. I went to Gamestop to get some. I know Target has the exclusive to Rosalina in Feb? At least in the US?

Anyways, I was talking to my local gamestop manager. And she told me she had to enforce a ONE per customer rule. She had a mom come in there, who wanted to buy EVERYTHING they got in. And the mom was fuming, and screaming at her for only allowing her to buy one.

Well thank you! I'd feel bad accepting something with nothing to give in return though. I'd be more than happy to send out some swag from the demos for Smash they had at the Best Buy if you'd like. It's pretty neat, I'm guessing you've got to be a collector of Smash Bros things if you're getting Amiibo, and I have plenty of extras.

The Amiibo community does seem to be pretty great. Not only is there a lot of overlap with the already great Smash Bros community on GAF, but it reminds me of the Skylanders community, which was the reason I started going to GAF in the first place. I used to have like 30 of those things.

On the topic of open/sealed, I actually "resealed" my Link and Donkey Kong to put on the shelf with the rest of my boxed collection. The packaging on them all is just so nice! Thankfully it is entirely possible to open them, use them, and put them back without too much of a sign. Tape is wonderful haha.

Though I'm not sure what to do once February gets here... Hoo boy. Don't have much space left on the shelf. Nice little catalyst to get me to actually clean things up, make some space.

Yeah that is why I'm torn. I actually like the way the Box Looks. They sit so nicely on my shelf. It's why I haven't opened them yet.

I'll probably just build a bunch of shelves around my room. And try to have the Amiibos lined up around the room. My room in general is pretty clean. It's not too cluttered. I like to collect like posters of Ghibli films and other stuff I love. But I'm not a massive figurine collector. So my room generally is clean and isn't like over flowing with crap.

I guess I'll have to see. But I don't think it will look that tacky. The Amiibos are pretty small, and they look tasteful. But you are right, I probably need to start thinking about all the space it will take up. Hah. Hmmmm.

I don't plan on selling these. I just want them to look at, kind of just as decorations.

I do have a PS4. I got the limited edition 20th Anniversary PS4 recently. Which is why I gave away my original black PS4 for free on GAF. I love the PS4.

I don't really understand why they are so limited. I mean, Nintendo doesn't make the insane money scalpers make off it. It's free money they don't actually get. And while I understand the idea behind creating demand and making things collectible, if the whole point of Amiibos is to launch a platform (like Skylanders)...then you kind of need to have like, the figurines be widely available, and re-stocked.

So tbh, I'm not 100% sure I get where Nintendo is coming at these from. Maybe it's a cost thing. Maybe it's something else I don't understand. I've never been good at this stuff hah.

Have to say...these actually look great out of the box. Maybe I will open them up and display them on my shelf that way. Plus the more Amiibos that come out, the less space I will have (the less practical the box's are). I really love the way they look in the Box though. But yeah, I'll prob end up just opening them.

Love seeing the amiibo trail, it's enough to make any kid flip. Showed it to my little sister when you first posted it and the reaction was great. Probably not to the extent if your daughter's but she was excited. "That's so cool!"

And so I'm really familiar with Tokyo and the sub/train systems. I'm going to Kyoto first (my gf has family there, and has never left the US). I actually wouldn't kind you tagging along if you wanted to. You prob know more about Kyoto then I do. I only know Tokyo. So it would actually be nice to have someone that knows Kyoto show us around.

Even if you're keeping them in the package, you might consider buying a few doubles to open. Link and Zelda and Samus look really, really nice lined up under my TV next to my Wii U and games. And since I'm playing Hyrule Warriors, I scan them everyday so even maneuvering them is cool and then repositioning them, etc.

I know pre-release a lot of people had concerns on quality and stuff and saying they looked cheap, etc, but personally, I've been impressed with the look of some (Link, Pit, Bowser and Samus immediately come to mind) and think Nintendo did a good job with these.
