Honestly, if you go right when they open, you have a good chance. There's always extra for non preorders.
Yeah I don't see how they are going to fill them either. But eh. Can't hurt! I hope they do fill them so people that need them badly can be happy.

Oh come on. I haven't even seen a single Pit (much like Villager and Marth) and would be a little pissed if I miss out on him too.
I almost went for In Store Pickup too but since I was out and about I just decided to go the store in person. I really, really fear for Lucina and hope she won't be retailer exclusive.

I doubt Mega Man or Sonic being low in stock considering just how big they are in terms of characters, I'm sure Nintendo will be giving them a huge amount of stock irregardless just because of how iconic they are. Especially Sonic who still rivals Mario's popularity even today. But Ike and King DeDeDe are sure bets, but I have a sneaky suspicion that DeDeDe might have a bigger supply because he's a Kirby character. So the rarest will probably be Ike and Rosalina and Luma.

Nope. Applies to UK/EU too. You can pre-rder every Amiibo on e-tailers and retailers with the exception being Rosalina, Shulk and Meta Knight. I have no idea why because we don't have exclusive Amiibo stores, but places like Shopto state they will not let you pre-order her. It's....really strange and I think going to make Rosalina a made rush wherever you are in the world.
Man I cannot imagine the headache this must be. What's the reason for this bullshit decision?
I'm making amiibo tournaments at my store every two weeks, it works like this:
-Amiibos are allowed to be as customized as you want. Add them all the powers, moves, abilities, no restrictions.
-Amiibo Trainers can enlist as many amiibos as they want in the tournament.
-Every entry cost 1 buck.
-3 stocks, 10 minutes.
Fights are 8-Player smashes with items off and all maps allowed selected at random. The Top 4 amiibos pass to the next round. all others are eliminated. Is done this way until only 8 amiibos are left. Once only 8 amiibos are left, they play the last 8-Player smash and only the top 2 amiibos pass to the Grand Finals.
The winner of the Grand Final gets the big price, second place takes a consolation price.
First time we tried this a lot of people complained that it was distracting from the "main event", the main 1vs1 human tournament, but once the fights started we where all yelling and rooting for our favorite amiibos. It was also a really fast tournament, it only takes 2 to 5 battles to complete, and they are lots of fun. Also the silly names makes it feel like betting on horse racing.

Yeah and Samus and Fox were super common once too. They're mostly gone from my local stores.
I think that a big wave like Wave 3 will have certain characters undershipped no matter what. I think Sonic will be popular and sell out quick no matter how many. And mega man barely stands a chance.

I'm going to be recovering from surgery when Wave 3 is released and won't be able to walk for about 2 weeks, so you at least have some hope for Rosalina.

That sounds like a blast, and a fun way to take a gamble a few bucks for fun xD (Assuming the main prize is money or something cooler.)
Your prizes should be Nintendo themed. You should say that the prize will be worth so much money, but it will be delivered/handed out at a later date. Then buy a box and customize the stuff you put into it to make it themed after the character that won. Fox won? Buy a Star Fox T-Shirt, maybe some bobble heads of the characters, run around the theme and put like a fox hat in the box, or some space related candy. Or even a pre-order to the upcoming game, or put in any existing game of a series into the box.

Honestly I think amigos starting with smash was the worst thing to do.

I'm not so sure about that anymore. Hardly anyone got the opportunity to pre-order so we are all planning to be there right when it opens. I think it's going to end up being about who can run up to the counter fast enough and also if Target puts a limit on how many you can purchase in-store.
I'm going to try to hit up multiple Targets, but it'll take some time to get to each one. I just hope the first one I go to will be the jackpot.

Here in Quebec Samus is one of the most common figure. It's pretty much Mario/Peach/Kirby/Samus/Donkey Kong/Zelda/Luigi.. and that's it. Even Link is getting more rare here. v_v

And yes, we should start rep our Amiibo communityI used a character from Miyazakis the Wind Rises, then took the logo but erased the text (couldn't find a place to fit it). Also I like the Amiibo marks on their own. Maybe if people want, they can use the same marks minus the font so it can fit in most avatars.

If anyone doesn't have PS or can't edit, then just let me know what pic you want, and where you want the logo. I can make some for you. I've done avatars in the past for other community threads. That said, no one has to add the logo either. It's cool either way.

There's a few. Check the Figure GAF thread since we do a bit of importing there but one of them is AmiAmi. A friend actually ordered 3 using AmiAmi without tracking and he said the order came out to be cheaper than purchasing it in the states even with shipping.
Edit: Nvm. Guess the other sites listed at Figure GAF don't really supply amiibos except AmiAmi and one other.
