DRIVECLUB New Track Preview: Nakasendo, Japan

That's a generic looking track. Doesn't really scream Japan!

LOL, obviously you've never been to Japan. You just have a stereotypical image of Japan in your head.

This track is so Japan it's uncanny

EDIT : Only thing missing was vending machines :P

I agree I would love city tracks

All I was saying is thank you for sharing your experience about driving around these roads.
Peace.

I got it. I just wanted to clarify that I'm not like "in Japan" right now. In case anyone wants me to run out and post a picture or something to prove I've been there or whatever. I have pics of the area, but likely not specifically of the roads and features.

I'm just trying to cover my bases. :)

lol wrong topic.

On topic though, this tracks very Japan. Not sterotipical Japan, but very accurate if you've been there. Looking forward to this.

The track looks incredible shown in the worst camera view especially in weather. Cockpit/Dashcam or bust.

Hope there's some urban tracks and Japanese cars.

Thinking of picking up the Season pass soon as well.

I picked this up from a guy on kijiji last night for $30 :) so excited to play soon. Still downloading the weather patch, my internet is slow.

Drifting is horrible. Anytime I see a drifting event I'm like nope lets move on.

Filthy Casual time to git gud ;).

Just hold circle right before the corner then countersteer and apply the gas when needed. You can master it buddy!
Everytime I see a drifting event Im like yes lets do this!

Ontopic, this track looks dope as hell! Can't wait to play this :D.

I thoroughly enjoyed the bare bones Driveclub, the best racer I've played. And all these updates, track and tour packs are making it even better. It's such a shame the problems that occurred during release put alot of people off the game.

Did they magically fixed the aliasing problems?

Did you magically not calibrate your TV?

The game has a clean look outside a few instances of some minor aliasing. Your sharpness setting is too high and/or your image is being overscanned (aka zoomed in). Turn overscan to off or remove the 16:9 setting and change it to JustScan/PIxel By Pixel/Dot for Dot etc. etc.

Looks great. And I'll echo other people about whoever's demoing it making me feel better about my own terrible driving in the game. Maybe I'm not so bad after all.

Drifting is horrible. Anytime I see a drifting event I'm like nope lets move on.

Every time I do the same. Skip and never try any drifting event, too hard for me.
I'll just try them later.

Me too. I like drifting in other games but it just feels weird in Driveclub somehow. And I tell myself I'll go back to them...but I don't know if I will. I just don't find it even remotely fun, which kills any urge I might have to learn how to drift properly.

2 tour packs every month, so my guess would be next week.

Oh shit, it's been a while since I looked at the content release chart. Welp, looks like my obsession will be reignited next week then. Gotta keep my 100% intact, son!

I actually have OCD and should probably be medicated

Why would anyone make a conscious effort to hate a game?

Weird.

I can't believe no one has jumped on this.

I'll learn but after I try to finish the Tours.

Arrrghhhh ...... where is the damn replay mode?

How the F$%& are we in 2015 and we STILL don't have this?

I still have no idea what on earth replay mode is or what it's meant to be. I first thought it was like rewatching your matches you raced in but people make it sound like it's a different thing.

Looks bloody great. I've been wanting more PTP tracks, and can't wait to try them out. The lights and reflections in the tunnel looked fantastic.

That looked amazing. Really well designed track with lots of twisting curves and elevation. Now all they need is some Japanese cars.

Yup, that's what they're talking about - a replay of your last race, same as GT.

Some guy upthread got it confused with a rewind mode, a 'feature' of modern racing games that makes me spit blood and DCs lack of it is one of the best things about the game.

On drifting - I'm not terrible at it, but I've only 3*d a couple of the drift events (the hatch one in the OG tour, and, amazingly, the electric Merc in the Redline pack...go figure). Gonna have to git gud tho - I'm seriously considering going for a plat on this game, and there's a lot of missing stars for me, mainly drift events.

Screams "Japan". Love it. Those insanely wide (and paved!) shoulders on the tight turns are quite welcomed. Would be awesome if they had point-to-points of actual mountain pass roads but I know better. Actually, make a DC game of -just- Japanese mountain roads, please! I have little doubt that they'll look like this in the overhead view:

(These exist in real life and I feel cheated that I am unable to drive on them)

I hope that in one of the tracks, there will be a tunnel and just right after your exit the tunnel, as the flash of sunlight dims, a snowfall of sakura petals will appear before you. That would be pretty sweet.

Sorry but I lived there and that track is not especially Japanese looking to me. Could be anywhere in the world. They could have given us a realistic touge, a city or a local town with its tiny alleyways and drive in shopping malls (I miss MSR...). But they chose a bland highway...
