I only have a Wii U gamepad since I skipped out on the original Wii. Does this mean I have to go buy a Wii mote and nunchuk?
I hope that's the case. With classic controller support I'd rather play Xenoblade on the gamepad rather than n3DSxl especially if it's only $10.
I'm betting it won't come out this year and will probably be one of the last ones if it releases at all. Don't want to cannibalize n3DS version sales too soon.
I don't have a Wii controller or nunchuck - so it sucks I have to buy those. Additionally, my Wii U is not near my TV (av grear in a closet) so it sucks I have to find a ugly ass wireless sensor bar. Essentially, I'm out $100 without buying a game.
ALL that said, I REALLY want to play Galaxy2 and Metroid. Games I missed by not owning a Wii.
Are these up yet? Or did they say when these would be put up?
I think this is a little different. DKCR 3D came out a while ago so a Wii U version wouldn't be much competition at this point.I don't know why people keep saying "Never" to Xenoblade. Donkey Kong Country Returns is coming and there is a 3DS port of that, too.
Indeed. You can buy used Wii Remotes for like, nothing. I saw a pawn shop with Wii Remotes for under $20, and Nunchuks for $5-10.
Yes they do if you transferred them to your Wii U vWiiDoes anyone know if your Wii save files carry over if you buy the digital version?
Nintendo has refurbished Wii motes + nunchuks with motion plus for $25. Best deal out there, and they come looking brand new.Indeed. You can buy used Wii Remotes for like, nothing. I saw a pawn shop with Wii Remotes for under $20, and Nunchuks for $5-10.
So as someone that never played the galaxy series, should I get galaxy 2?

Oh, I know that the IOS system is a complete and utter mess to work with, and that's largely the reason why Nintendo has for all intents and purposed abandoned the vWii. And why it has made it so easy to crack that console open for homebrew and piracy. I was just wishful thinking, to be honest. I imagine that if homebrew coders can use "free" IOS slots to implement features on their own, Nintendo should be able to cook up something that can be used by any game (or, at least, those that meet certain criteria) on a system-level nature.
As someone looking to get a Wii U in the future, is there any way I can purchase the digital copies of Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid Prime Trilogy now, to get them at the discounted price, and download them to my future Wii U when the time comes?

I have a NNID I use for 3DS that'll be used on the Wii U. Could I purchase it via the Nintendo Web Store, like you can for Xbox One and PS4? Nintendo products and licences are a bit of a pain.

Should get you a download voucher that you could save the code for. Or at least save it to your NNID downloads.
Ok, just booted galaxy 2. It is sd as expected. I don't think that there is any additional post processing, but I am not sure (maybe it is a bit softer, I don't own galaxy 2 so can't make an exact comparison). There is a black frame around the picture despite nothing like that when playing wiiu games.
They're gonna run out of Wii games by the end of the gen thenMaybe in the absence of 3rd party games to fill out the release lineup, Wii titles rereleased digitally are there to keep the flow of "games" going.
Damn... I was hoping it would at least get rid of this.

It's only one of the best games ever! (That's yes)
Since I helped you you must also promise to buy Sin and Punishment 2Yep, this worked great. Thanks a bunch! It'll be nice to have a library of games waiting for me. I skipped the Wii, so this and Metroid Prime Trilogy will be a good start to fixing that.
How would it compare to 3D world?
That game is awesome.
It was my first 3D mario game in a while and I've never played a Galaxy game before.
Unlikely, if it really put the wiiu in wii mode then it's going to appear as Wiimode time or something.
Galaxy 2 sure is tempting, but I already have a physical copy of Galaxy 1, and I haven't finished any of the Metroid Primes so looks like I'm going with that.
Any idea what the sizes of these games are?
I'm getting low on memory with all the digital games I have gotten over the years.
Probably talked about to death already but: why SMG2 and not SMG1 first? Probably blasphemy to even mention this but I've yet to play any of the Galaxy games and I don't really want to start with the sequel. But I feel like I should grab it anyway especially if it's being discounted in the first week.
Galaxy has been pretty cheap for a while now thanks to Nintendo selects. Also because of Nintendo selects there are more prints of the game. It retails for $19.99 but many times its been as cheap as $9.99. In fact I believe the Nintendo store is still selling it for $14.99.Probably talked about to death already but: why SMG2 and not SMG1 first? I have been on a budget recently since I've been spending quite a few bucks on getting my SNES a nice CRT and a couple of games.SMG2 is really good, worth grabbing while it's on sale even if you have the first.
SMG2 is 1.5GB, MPT will be around ~8GB.
