I'd be surprised if it didn't come out before on the same day as Xenoblade X. Sales of Xenoblade X will be hurt by the fact that a lot of Wii U owners don't own a 3DS and have never had the opportunity to play Xenoblade Chronicles. This could be great way to get people excited about the series.

And much like DKCR for 3DS, there are additional features, like portability and the 3D screen (i'm not sure if they are doing anything else with it) that will give people a reason to still buy the 3DS version.

Edit: More importantly, they will want to undercut scalpers as the release of the game gets closer and closer.

Not even with the official ones you are at 100. Wii Remote at worst is 40, Sensor bar 7 bucks. Refurbished even cheaper.

I think this is a little different. DKCR 3D came out a while ago so a Wii U version wouldn't be much competition at this point.

Xenoblade could come to Wii U but it might be a while so the 3DS version can sell.
 
I don't need galaxy 2 so much that I'll drop $10... even if it's going to go back up to $20 (I'm hoping this is a sign that Nintendo will regularly include Wii games in sales) especially when the Sony 20th anniversary sale is so much more spectacular going on while I get paid on Friday.

If you don't have a problem with refurbished things you could buy Nunchuck + Wii mote for 25 $ from nintendo and wireless sensor bars are cheap too or play on the gamepad(inbuilt sensorbar) or you use candles.
 
I spent the last hour playing Mario Galaxy 2 off TV. The GamePad does a good job at removing jaggies, the game looks really, really good on it. I'm feeling happy now, from the music to the gameplay, this is pure joy. For whatever reason (I blame PES Playmaker), I stopped playing this game after few worlds on Wii. I will finish it this time :)

Changing anything in existing IOS binaries would require all games that use the modified version(s) to be tested again. This costs a lot of money for little return (allowing players to play mostly existing physical games). Testing/patching individual games for a modified IOS that maps the gamepad to the classic controller and putting them for sale on the eShop is cheaper and more profitable. That's the (unfortunate) reality.
 
As someone looking to get a Wii U in the future, is there any way I can purchase the digital copies of Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid Prime Trilogy now, to get them at the discounted price, and download them to my future Wii U when the time comes?

I have a NNID I use for 3DS that'll be used on the Wii U. Could I purchase it via the Nintendo Web Store, like you can for Xbox One and PS4? Nintendo products and licences are a bit of a pain.
 
I never had a Gamecube or a Wii, just got a Wii U and am extremely excited to play the Metroid Prime Trilogy at such a great price. I was hoping to buy it somewhere used for a decent price if I could find it but this is even better.
 
Only thing I hate is that I still have to use the Wii Remote and nunchuck with most of those. I hate that control scheme. Also wish they would update the firmware to make it where any Wii game, even on disc, that allows a classic controller pro can use the Gamepad instead.
 
I'd be ecstatic if they pulled another OG Sin & Punishment (read: digital release with only two languages) for Excitebots with this. It never seeing a European release was a travesty.
 
Maybe in the absence of 3rd party games to fill out the release lineup, Wii titles rereleased digitally are there to keep the flow of "games" going.
 
Galaxy looks pretty good on my 42 incher. Not nearly as good as what it looks like in dolphin threads. But pretty nice nonetheless thanks to the art style. Happy to get it for $10.

My only complaint is that it lacks Wii u functionality (home menu, miiverse, etc..)

If you knew someone with a Wii U, you could try creating an account with your NNID on their system, buying the game, and then call customer support once you get a Wii U to get Nintendo to let you split the NNID off the system and on to yours. It's a bit of a risk, though. There's not a clean way to do it, no. Like with the $0.39 VC games in 2013, this is a bonus for current owners of the Wii U system.

Galaxy 2 sure is tempting, but I already have a physical copy of Galaxy 1, and I haven't finished any of the Metroid Primes so looks like I'm going with that.

Any idea what the sizes of these games are?

I'm getting low on memory with all the digital games I have gotten over the years.

Actually this Super Mario Galaxy 2 is showing up in my Wii U daily log played 1:25 hours today. It usually will say at the bottom played in wii mode with no other info with disc version, I was wondering about this since the wii log stats are not as good as in Wii U.
 
Probably talked about to death already but: why SMG2 and not SMG1 first? Probably blasphemy to even mention this but I've yet to play any of the Galaxy games and I don't really want to start with the sequel. But I feel like I should grab it anyway especially if it's being discounted in the first week.

SMG2 is really good, worth grabbing while it's on sale even if you have the first.

SMG2 is 1.5GB, MPT will be around ~8GB.

Probably because Galaxy 1 is still on store shelves. Compare the games' Amazon listings; The first game is available straight from Amazon for $20, while the second is only available from third-party sellers, starting at $30 used, $36 new.

Galaxy has been pretty cheap for a while now thanks to Nintendo selects. Also because of Nintendo selects there are more prints of the game. It retails for $19.99 but many times its been as cheap as $9.99. In fact I believe the Nintendo store is still selling it for $14.99.

Hopefully they put the original on eshop though. Its a fantastic game.
 
So, the only games listed that have classic controller support and thus gamepad support are Sin and Punishment and Pandora's Tower. I already own the other games, so I'd just be paying for the ability to skip booting into wii mode. I was so excited when I thought that they'd all be playable with the gamepad in off-tv mode.

I have been on a budget recently since I've been spending quite a few bucks on getting my SNES a nice CRT and a couple of games.

I also don't think I have enough memory for MPT.
