Amiibo Discussion Thread 2: I Got 99 Pre-orders But A Rosalina Ain't One

On the one hand, I'm glad I didn't miss him, but on the other hand, this is out of control. Amiibos NEED a universal one per customer limit. It's getting to the point where normal humans can't hope to get them, and I say this as a guy with a Majora' Mask XL preorder and a complete Wave 2.

Isnt that on Nintendo though? They could put firm street dates on these like videogames and movies, and require a one per customer limit. Retailers really shouldn't have to worry about limiting sales.

I'm honestly debating how I'll pull Gamestop preordering.

Because while I want all of wave 4, I feel like having GS as a back up for Robin, Lucina, and Ness might be absolutely necessary, especially if the anti scalper measures are applying to them. And I'm not quite as worried about the other three.

Rosalina is on the way. I have Ike, Toon Link and Lucario ordered but I'm gonna cancel one for now. I'm thinking Toon Link, but I wonder which one you would all keep and which one you would discard of the three? I thought Ike would be rare but after Code Name STEAM, I think they might make more of him. Toon Link looks like on the best ones but I have a feeling he won't be rare...but then again will they really keep him out if there's already a Link readily available?

Tell me about it. I have Waves 1 and 2 complete, but I had go through hoops to get a couple of them (paying double for Little Mac along the way). It's so frustrating... I thought going to a retailer and pre-ordering them well in advance would be enough...

Still nothing on Amazon UK about wave 4. I don't trust ShopTo after the whole Smash + Adapter bundle issue (a friend who pre-ordered before me didn't get the bundle whilst I did). GAME seemingly don't want to accept my card despite the billing address and details being correct. I guess I could try Gamestop even though they raise the prices a litte.

I actually was in my local Gamestop friday, asking if they could call around and check on Captain Falcons and Pits at the other stores in the area. The manager of the store was getting genuinely pissed off - not at me, but at a restock of both that had just come through the system a day before. Except at every single store he called out of about 10, scalpers had been calling the stores constantly, sitting on the phone for hours until UPS dropped their boxes off that morning. At each store usually one person had told them to hold 5-15 copies of each amiibo then ran over to buy them all.

My manager was angry because 1. Nintendo wouldn't set a limit, yet they get punished for breaking street date on a game by an hour, 2. Gamestop corporate woudn't set a limit, and 3. other store managers didn't just say fuck it, and set their own in-store limit.

It does seem like, if they wanted, Nintendo of America could set a sales limit with consequences for a retailer breaking it as with hard street dates. But nobody thought about it or cares if normal console owners/fans can buy Amiibo. I was told by the local GS manager that he doesn't like scalpers because they're usually not regular customers. A hot product will sell regardless of who the customer is, but honest customers stand a higher chance of returning to the store or buying other stuff while there.

It does seem like they're clamping down though. Have heard a few people claim their Nintendo UK Store order, which had 3 of the same amiibo in it, got cancelled down to just one of each of their ordered amiibo, so Nintendo does appear to see that scalping is an issue and is trying to block it on their ends.

I think GAME recently did similar, but can't remember where I saw that.

Oh yeah, it's definitely on Nintendo. They were woefully unprepared for the huge amount of scalping that is ruining the Amiibo market, and despite having data and complaints from the first two waves and the Gamecube adapter, they are either too stubborn to learn or are just OK with the situation as it is. Either way, it's quite frustrating. Buying toys should not be a stressful experience!

GAME only allow one of each per order as well.

Good morning everyone! How is everyone doing? Let's keep this the most friendly and thoughtful source of amiibo information on the whole internet the way Azula would have wanted!

I'm ready to start the day! Carpe Diem! I'm at work but I have the forum open along with Nowinstock and amiibo inquirer. Bring it on wave 4!

I can see Wave 5 and 6 on GAME, but I can't tell if they're sold out or just not available for pre-order yet... a few other non-amiibo items I have pre-ordered do have sold out on them, but these don't. Has anyone order these from GAME in the UK?

Looks like there's still no word on pre-orders for the new waves in Canada. EBgames, Amazon.ca, BB/FS, all void of any of the next two waves save for the Mario Party bundle.

I wish you a good luck with your goals and be strong with everything that you would face in the future. Thank you for everything you done for AmiiboGAF. Godspeed, Azula.

You got me Nintendo broke down and ordered a few:
Donkey Kong
Samus
Mario
Link
Zelda
Luigi
Yoshi

Want to get Fox too but Ill wait for Best Buy to get it to use my discount.

Pre-orders went up a few days ago and sold out from what I can tell.

I'm convinced that Little Mac is the rarest to find in the UK. Not a single store around me (or even my parents) has him whereas I've seen at least 1 Marth/Villager/WFT in stock nearby as well as all the other amiibo (even Zelda who has been quite elusive for me) yet not a single Little Mac to be found anywhere.

Not to mention he's £55 on Amazon. WFT is £20, Villager and Marth are £27.

Yeah Little Mac is pretty much gone, other European countries have much more luck with him =/ I had to find Little Mac on eBay for £18, so not too bad but still =(

Ugh, Little Mac and Pit went up while I was sleeping.

Missed them again :(

/cry

I was asleep for Pit too, but awake for Little Mac. I was on the site and saw it right as I received an alert, and still got the out of stock error when trying to purchase. I think there are people literally stalking sites 24 hrs/day

Can't wait to get back home. Just received a message saying my parcel arrived! Get hype for Rosalina. Was really quick shipping.
GAME just cancelled a bunch from the wave out this Friday I had ordered. Not happy - they told me stock shortages, even though I pre-ordered at the beginning of December...
I only pre-ordered Lucario at GAME so I'll let you know f anything happens to my pre-order. I pre-order multiple Amiibos from different areas as backups.

GAME only allow one of each per order as well.

Sorry but that doesn't work. I found a way to order more than 1. It's how I ordered 5 Macs from GAME earlier this year.

My French Marth/Villager and Canadian Falcon/Fox Amazon orders were closed after weeks of being placed due to no vendor/stock found to provide them :( guess I'm paying the higher eBay prices and getting them once every paycheck to handle the amounts.

Hi AmiiboGaf. Haven't been posting much lately, but I'm still in this. Eagerly awaiting Wave 4 preorders here. I finally have my boxed Amiibo displayed in my office. It's a work in progress and nothing fancy, but perhaps I will snap a pic later this afternoon.

Just want to thank everyone here who has been providing info and support to the rest of us.

Azula, you can live vicariously through other people's collections. I know a lot of people do that.

Good luck to you, and I hope you enjoy Japan!

ebgames, amazon, best buy, SOMEONE

let me pre-order Lucina and Robin

please ;_;

I'm gonna be real peeved if I get back from my checkup to see the preorders went up and sold out. Hell, I'll run down to my EBGames and see if they can accept preorders like Wave 3.

So as of this morning, these are the release dates I have from Walmart based on my preorder emails:

Mega Man - Feb 20
Sheik - Feb 6
Ike - Feb 20
King Dedede - Feb 20
Toon Link - Feb 6
Sonic - Feb 13

Three different release dates!? WTF Nintendo!?

So, back in late November/early December when I had the "gotta catch 'em all" mentality, I pre-ordered Shulk at Gamestop. Now, I've come to my senses and decided to only get amiibo of characters I actually care about, which doesn't include Shulk... Just wasn't a big fan of Xenoblade Chronicles. However, I know there are a lot of y'all out there that were, and that would really like this particular amiibo.

I'm also missing a Marth, a character I actually do want.

So, once my pre-ordered Shulk comes in, I'd be happy to trade with someone for a good-looking Marth. If you're interested, PM me and we'll work out the details. Thanks!
