Grim Fandango Remastered |OT| The Excelsior Line Edition

Lord Error

Insane For Sony
Anybody knows how bigis the Vita version? I need to make some space for it.
Download is around 3.1GB. Does Vita version support touch controls to interact with objects etc?

I wonder how I can insure I get "The Right Way" Achievement for Tank Controls.

I've been exclusively using the controls, but I also use the mouse to look around the room for objects to interact with.
Does PC/Mac version of the game allow for playing with mouse exclusively, like that fan patch for ResidualVM? WIth that patch, you could click where you want to go etc, just like in typical P&C game.

My lunch break can't come soon enough. I've got the game downloaded to my Vita, just taunting me. I missed out on this at the time of release, though I don't remember why. I have always loved point-and-clicks, so to have passed on it is an odd choice, in retrospect. Did Half-Life come out around the same time as this? I remember seeing it in the stores, just never biting the bullet on it.

I've never played Grim Fandango, so what's all this fuss with the tank controls? If it was so great back in the day, when why shouldn't people use tank controls today? I don't get why using tank controls is a "feat" of sorts to a lot of people (enough to warrant a trophy for playing the whole game with them I believe)?

1- No true 16:9 support.
2- No auto-saving.
3- No hints system.
4- No big graphical improvements.

1- assets are in 4/3. To get widescreen they would have had to crop them vertically, since you obviously can't expand them horizontally. I'm sure you have a zoom option on your TV if you really want to have cropped 16:9.
3- why would you want that? It's a remake, if you start adding stuff like hints it becomes a different, easier game. Difficulty shouldn't be rebalanced in remakes unless blatant unfair stuff like the Water Temple in OOT3D or the goat in Broken Sword.

4- I haven't seen it myself yet, but I believe the polycount is actually part of the art. Blocky characters add to the athmosphere of the game. Textures should have been given a cleanup if it wasn't the case, yes.

2- I don't know, I always save manually before quitting a game. When I don't have the option it makes me uncomfortable as I'm not sure if the game did save or if I just missed the option.

Is it me, or does this game take forever to make a save file?
Real quick for me on PC, guess you're talking about console? I just noticed when testing that the save menu seems to highlight the mural for your progress through the game. That's kinda cool.

This is the first time I've played with tank controls in years, if not ever. The main problem is that Manny turns very slow. As a passive viewer it can sometimes break the immersion, sometimes it is just easier to make Manny walk backwares or do a 3 point turn like you're driving a car. That isn't how skeletons behave in real life. There are some minor issues where Manny doesn't do exactly what you want also, like I've walked into doors and not been transported to the next area, or gone off camera and had some difficulty moving Manny back on screen. Without tank controls this would be a lot easier.

Well.. I re downloaded the game and it still says playable in 12 hours. When I click start the game ,there are no time remaining.. What the fuck.

Yes, it does have traditional P&C controls.

They need a quick turn button like in Resident Evil.

next to nothing about this game. I played it a little back in the day, don't think i ever finished.

Downloaded last night, played about an hour - just trying to figure out how to get the work order signed.
Ah, old school games.

looks good, sounds good. Was cheap.

I dunno, your turn speed is pretty fast already I think.

I did try the mouse controls, which I would prefer for this kind of game honestly, but they don't work that well, sometimes when you want to examine something, Manny just walks away from it before he says his line, the pathfinding in general can be a bit wonky and for example, when you just want to examine a door, not open it, you need the keyboard anyway. Clicking through the interface and navigating your inventory with the mouse also takes longer than just using the keyboard.

The copy I bought at 12:30am EST still won't work on PS4. It doesn't even show up in my download list.

I'm having the same problem.

I somehow missed out on Sony's shortened preorder window, which they abruptly decided to shut down early without any prior notification. Despite this, I purchased the game about 20 minutes ago anyway...but now the system won't even allow me to download it!

The entry for the game in the Library shows a message "No content was found". There is a "Start" button, but it says it cannot find the application and brings me to the entry on the PlayStation Store. This entry has a "Start" button of its own, but clicking it has the same effect, bumping me back to the PlayStation Store listing with the same error.

I'm having the same issue as well. When I go to the SEN website and try to download it that way, it shows 14.99 instead of the download link. I also did not receive any sort of confirmation link from Sony in my e-mail regarding my purchase

Why has Sony made it so hard to buy this game? My credit card DOES show a pending charge of 14.99 listed so I don't know what to do.

Edit: After a few minutes, it finally showed up on my download list on SEN. Its downloading now thankfully.

Well, I look forward to trying to play this game when I get home today. Well, if it doesn't work, I guess I can just work towards getting plat in Saints Row or something.

Have it downloading at home, never played it before but have wanted to for years based on the art style, and know virtually nothing about it. Can't wait to jump in blind.

I have 2 questions, and didn't find the answer by scanning the thread, so sorry if it has already been answered...

1. Will I get the theme by buying the game even if I didn't pre-order?

2. Is the audio in the PS4 version english-only, or does it also contain french, german, etc.?

Yes, I went to the PS Store on the Web, and my game is now downloading to my PS4 as well.

I'm pretty sure you won't get the theme, and thats literally driving some Gaffers mad. But don't fret, this kind of stuff almost always goes up in the PSN store at some point. If it doesn't, we should start a mini campaign to let Sony know that there's interest. Because this theme is AWESOME. By far the best theme I've downloaded... Its simple but it looks great and plays one of the great songs from the soundtrack. It will be on my PS4 permanently.

So excited! Just bought this on Steam since I don't have a Playstation. Hoping this behaves well with Big Picture Mode. Still have my 2 discs from when I bought the original release back in 1998.

Now bring on Day of the Tentacle, my all time favorite Lucas Arts' adventure game.

Mad is an understatement...

Sony said that everyone who bought the game last night will get the theme. It not being available is probably just a glitch.

Yep.

English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese available.

Dutch isn't available (games very rarely get translated to Dutch, and when they do (see: Heavy Rain, where they actually got some (bored) Dutch celebrities to do the voices) we tend to play them in English anyway.

You mean Deutsch, which is German for German. Dutch is English for Nederlands, which we speak in the Netherlands. Confusing, I know :p.

Handy guide:

In English: Germans from Germany speak German. Dutch people from The Netherlands speak Dutch.
In German: Deutsche Menschen from Deutschland speak Deutsch. Niëderlandische Menschen from Die Niederlande speak Niederländisch.
In Dutch: Duitsers from Duitsland speak Duits. Nederlanders from Nederland speak Nederlands.

Really it's the English language that makes it confusing.

Oh yeah, Grim. Still good.

I will give them until the store officially updates today to see. Then I will be calling them.

If the person I spoke with provided false information I will be getting a refund and purchasing it on Steam.

Will likely never buy anything off the PSN store I don't have to. The fact they basically ruined the launch of one of my favourite games will stick with them forever.
