Anecdotal adventures from today for anyone curious.
Started at Target, they had all the usual suspects. Commons everywhere. Absolutely nothing new or noteworthy.

Tried Toys R Us. They actually had three Bowsers (two are on the bottom of the picture). But I'm not collecting all the amiibos and I don't care about him, so no buy there. Besides that, they too were cleaned out of anything worthwhile. What the hell happened to Link? No stores had him.
Best Buy was a wasteland. They were actually just low on everything. Mario, Pikachu and Yoshi were all shockingly depleted. Obviously again, nothing worthwhile.
In exasperation, I got this from Target since the DI figures are on sale through tomorrow. Groot looks solid.

After visiting Target, GameStop, and Best Buy recently, I need to grab Link before he becomes an issue.

Groot is one of the better characters in that game...he's slow, but he's ridiculously strong and can climb walls to make up for it (plus his "projectile" move is excellent).
Yeah, I'm done with Amiibos if my preorders don't ship. It has been a huge pain in the ass getting the ones I didn't preorder, and the store exclusives especially have been bad. But I made sure to get Mega Man, Sonic, Ike, Dedede, and Shulk preordered so I will be crushed if they get cancelled. At the very least I trust Gamestop and Amazon more than the other retailers, but losing Shulk would be especially crushing since it would pretty much signal the death of any chance I had at getting him.
All pretty much sold out if you didn't have a preorder. Hopefully they will be getting more shipments.
At this point I think it's pretty clear that scalpers have had a pretty big victory today.
I mean how many of us (who didn't preorder) even got a Lucario today? Just watch eBay get flooded with Lucario now. I have to say I really thought he would be the easiest to get. TRU usually way overstocks their exclusives (looking at you ugly DI crystal figures).
And the thing that sucks the most is that scalpers have higher odds of having their way compared to a collector that truly loves Nintendo and their characters. There are 3 scenarios with these things:
1. Scalper is first in line and buys every amiibo, fucking everyone else behind them.
2. A couple fans are in line first and just buy one of each figure. Scalper is next and clears out the rest of the stock, fucking everyone else behind them.
3. Only fans are in line and each get their one figure. (This scenario is highly unlikely as it always seems like scalpers don't have jobs or a life and can always get in said line early).
Of course we now have to worry about a fourth scenario:
4. Crazy bitch line cuts, runs behind counter and steals someone else's preorders. Basically tells the store they can't stop her, and actually gets them sold to her by confused employees.
Sigh... if secret Nintendo rep is in this forum, please pass along all these sad stories to someone that cares about their fans.

Lol, honestly I don't even own the game. I bought him because I loved Guardians of the Galaxy and kind of want to collect their figures. I guess I might buy the game once the inevitable Star Wars cash-in occurs though...

Is Link getting hard to find? The day I found Bowser, Toon Link, and Sheik at TRU, they had more Links than any single amiibo I have ever seen at one location. There must have been 40 of them there.

As I said in my little update, I went into a TRU, a Target and a Best Buy today. Not a single Link to be found. So I think SaviourMK2 is right to say he might be getting a bit more rare.
2 days ago I went to TRU and they had rows and rows of Toon Links and Bowsers. Today, there was not a single Toon Link in the entire store (but even more Bowsers).

TRU and Target seem to be the only retailers selling Wave 3 so far down there? EB Games is the only one in Canada so far and each store got 1 Dedede here.

Toys R Us has plenty in stock, but I don't want to give those fuckers my business. But every store around me that carries amiibos havent had Link in stock for a while
I love that these are selling so well. I can't wait to get my pre-orders.

Don't have any Amiibos but I just preordered Mario Party 10 w/ Mario Amiibo.

I can't imagine the amount of CS complaints Amazon would receive if they cancelled everyone's Super Mario preorders. I only hope I got my order for Toad in quick enough since it was 40 minutes before he sold out.

My TRU sold all Lucario to people who didnt have preorders. My target told me the sheik I found cant be sold till Sunday unlike everyone elses target.
My gamestop said they might not get enough shulks to cover in store preorders.
My bestbuy said the same thing about Meta Knight.
My Target didnt get any rosalina in yet...

I'm going to guess that the Mario Party Bowser Amiibo will be fairly common. However, you can find the Bowser smash Amiibo in Gamestops, Toysrus, and Targets in the United States, with best bets being Toysrus > Gamestop > Target.

I saw a few Gaffers reporting success on him, but the majority I've seen is similar to my own situation where most of us went in right at opening (or a few minutes after) and weren't quick enough to get one of the ~4 or so Lucarios the store had to sell.
