Hopefully people start to learn the Diddy matchup better over this upcoming year as, while Diddy has some objectively great moves/combo setups, I feel like a lot of his current domination is just people getting completely flustered by the moves and allowing themselves to fall into almost every combo attempt. Especially a ton of people just let themselves get stringed with 3 up airs when they are down thrown instead of learning the proper DI. Also, Diddy has such a gimpable recovery but it seems like a bunch of people just let him jet up without any contest at all.
I'm admittedly not very good at the game, but Diddy seems like he has a few glaring weaknesses that I'm sure people will learn to adapt to as there are more tournaments and Diddy won't be such an undisputed force in Sm4sh. We've already seen a lot of good people playing other characters contesting Diddy, and a lot of them just seem a few more techniques away from making it a more even contest.
His recovery isn't really that easy to edgeguard because of Side B. It's a command grab + can be changed into an attack at any point before Diddy Kong lands on the ground. He either recovers horizontally or vertically and most of the time Diddy is coming back horizontally and the Side B kick comes out really quickly.
We'll see what happens but that's generally what I've seen from Diddy recovering. People are afraid to intercept because of the kick which can help Diddy shift the momentum back into his favor.
LOL dang Green Ranger with the Uairs to heaven on Juggleguy.
