Seems like I missed a lot of shit after going to bed during the Smash 4 doubles.

Leffen beating to Chillin was to be expected, even though part of me hoped Chillin could back it up a little. At this point Leffen is practically the most infamous heel of the Smash community.

What else happened during the night?

I think that's part of it.
I think once you're at a tournament and you got a crowd, a campy style is hard to do, not because people will call you out, but because YOU wanna win with style and flare. Playing 100% safe with Villagers is pretty boring for the audience, not that it should matter. However, I think when you compete you naturally want to put on a "good show."

Another potential reason:
I'm not super experienced against Villagers so I could be wrong on higher levels, but when villagers camp back with lloyds and rolls they can be conditioned rather easily. Condition them on a few things and then you can punish their rolls and their lloyds. I play Sonic so neutral B makes this really easy, but certain characters may struggle to punish that stuff. Campy style of Villager is pretty easy to counter pick for IMO, but I could be wrong at higher levels of play.
 
Any notable players, or rather characters in particular, who got into the Smash 4 Top brackets? I noticed someone mentioned that all the third party characters made it.

Yeah not too happy with the characters used but it's expected in a play to win setting.

Yeah, I only got 4 hrs of sleep but I'm considering getting up to turn the stream on.

Man Melee got up to 56k viewers yesterday and was number 2 on Twitch, I'm guessing today will be even higher.

Have to fully disagree. Both characters are super fun to watch. (Plus I play Sheik. <.<). Honestly hoping for Diddy/Sheik finals. Of the characters in this game, I'm kinda glad those two are good. Like if the best character was Duck Hunt, I might hate this game. Speaking of which, I hope MVD gets eliminated. :3

Would love to see aMSa or Ally make it tho

I can't believe how well Leffen played the heel. The constant cackling, the condescending shoulder pat, the pity SD, the repeated standing lasers. Huge disrespect the whole time. And Mango came up to the mic after and put $1000 on the match if Leffen and Mango play in bracket today.

Ken vs PC also happened, close set. Like a time capsule, lol. There was Axe vs Silent Wolf, which ended up pretty close. Not in set count, but most matches were really good iirc. Then Smash 4 also had a Salty Suite going. From what I heard here it was off to a rough start, but some amazing things probably ended up happening at some point.

Better than Sonic at least, I like zoning gameplay like Duck Hunt and Villager play but Sonic in Smash 4 is ZzzzZzz

Yeah I honestly don't mind the top tiers in this game. I like Diddy, especially Zero's.

Sonic on the other hand just slows the game down
 
So what did that newcomer stream ever end up being like? It never even started while I got to watch yesterday.

Will have to catch up on the second half of the day later.
