Has 343 Industries redeemed themselves with Halo:MCC

oh man, i saw this thread and was astonished. i thought it was a new thread and i almost did a spit take. glad to see it was a bumped thread because, lol, no. they *really* have not redeemed themselves lol

Ha yeah I did the same thing.
The one classic thing related to the whole MCC debacle for me is that sketchy poster on here name Jleak or something that was hyping this thing up as the greatest remaster of all time and even went so
far as to take huge issue with the metascore being lower than TLOU:R. As soon as the game comes out though he goes MIA.

Shady character.

I can now say from experience that the local co-op campaigns (aside from micro-stuttering in H2A and 360 LoDs in Halo 4) have been ideal, so it has that going for it on the local play side.

Hell no.

This was their only chance IMHO. The abysmal launch still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Haven t played it for a while. Biggest waste of $70 in recent memory, and I was a HUGE Halo fan.

I can't even find it on twitch these days.

Have you played all 4 games in Co-Op? I've been playing through Halo 1 with my brother in local co-op off and on for several weeks and the game simply does not save checkpoints if you decide to turn off the system/stop playing the game. We had to complete every mission fully if we wanted to make any progress whatsoever. Ended up having to replay the same mission at least three times, it was infuriating.

Have heard of similar issues with I think 2?

This collection needed more time. MS just wanted it out for the holidays and to hit the 10th anni for Halo 2. The MP problems wasn't even my biggest issue at first -- I figured they'd iron out the kinks -- lol. What pissed me off and continues to do so is that all four Halo games have frame-rate problems in the single player. Every single damn one of them. It's bullshit.

Ok, let's start this by saying Halo 4 wasn't a bad game, it was a bad Halo game. The influences from other games was so apparent and disappointing for a lot of fans. Sprint and perks do not belong in Halo. It was always about fair start, map control weapon control. They basically threw that out of the window and tried to appeal to COD fans and ended up with neither.

As for the SP, the first cutscene in the game was INCREDIBLE. The story just went downhill from there. Didact reveal was really weak and the character as a whole isn't that interesting. Plus, the game lost the open areas which is stamp for the series.

Anyway, I think they learned their lesson and hopefully they fix all that in Halo 5.

Now for Halo:MCC, i don't think anyone believed they would make such a collection. 4 halo games, all MP maps ever released playable online and a remake of Halo 2 for $60. The package is simply incredible and it's the best love letter to fans of the series.

What do you guys think?

Oh, and it's releasing in a little over week. HYPE!

Edit 2 : For people saying "it's just a port". Watch this video(youtube).Xbox video

Edit: forgot the question mark in the title :P

Can't believe they fucked up Halo game.

Fuck you 343.

Lol. Good stuff.

Hahahah.

Fuck 343 wasted 60 bones that should have gone to working games.

how do you fuck up ports like this? Even in single player frame rate is horrendous.

Fuck 343.

Halo 3 looked like a consistent 60fps in Digital Foundry's single-player video analysis but obviously they can't show the whole game.

People getting all uppity about paying $60 bucks for a game still borked months after release. The fucking gall of them.

Get your refund then?

I'm upset the shit is broken but I ain't gonna waste my energy shitting on the game and the company on a daily basis

Like what does that accomplish at this point??

well, Killer, at least you're not defending it. :P hope this isn't what got you juniored.

so i really only care about single player campaign. is that fixed at least? i don't have an Xbone but i don't have a 360 or OG Xbox either and i'm way more likely to get a 'bone than i am either of those anytime soon.

Campaign worked perfectly fine for me.

I haven't played since early January and it was hit and miss for me then (Southeast US). Some games would be found quickly and other times I'd sit there for 15 mins with no people being found. Once I was in a match, it ran well.

It's not. If anyone still has the game go play mission 8 The Covenant. The frame-rate is so terrible I quit out.

Did he go missing? Or did he get buried by a mod?

I grew up with Halo and I never assumed it would be ruined for me. I will not be purchasing Halo 5 at least until the bugs are fixed because god knows 343 will fuck something up. Great idea, poorly executed. (Using the word poorly is also too soft.)

Give 343i any rope like the people in this thread did, and they'll use it to hang Halo. Anyone pre-ordering Halo 5 after this debacle deserves what is coming to them.

Did no one even remember the first game they did? Halo one remaster for 360. That remaster was garbage. I bought it only to play online co-op, as i had no one locally to play with. The online (co-op) was far too laggy, impossible to play.

MCC issues won't really change anything. Halo 5 will still have a huge pre order, and people will still fall for it. It's Halo, it sells on name alone. Hell they could poop in a box, call it Halo: Brown Ops and it would still chart, and Eurogame would give it a 10/10 best game of the year award before it was released.

This thread is the gift that keeps on giving. Every time it gets bumped I'm amused. OP needs a tag for this imo.

Still super disappointed in 343. As much as I want ODST, offering a fifth potentially broken game as amends for 4 broken games while the latter are still not fixed rubs me the wrong way.

Been that way since 2001 buddy

If I recall correctly, he was banned.

He then tried to sign up using a different account and that was banned too. (Atleast, I think it was him since the mods mentioned that 'he wasn't sneaky enough to cover his tracks')

i thought that was supposed to be pretty good? and i assumed it would be better on the X1?

What if they add in a potentially 6th broken game?

Speaking of MCC, is anyone from GAF beta testing that huge update they were preparing? Is there any word on whether or not it may finally fix the huge issues with MCC?

The irony is that I'm sure most fans would have been happy merely with a solid and working Halo 2 Anniversary. But I'm guessing MS wanted to release this as an irresistible value proposition, but clearly bit off more than they could chew for both the budget and talent behind it.

Until it doesn't.

yeah, exactly. there is such a thing as a point of no return. enough consecutive fuck-ups and even your diehards aren't going to be there day one. are we there yet? i'm not sure. i suspect Halo 5 will have lower pre-order numbers post MCC than it would have had they launched a competent game, but i think they've still got one more chance in the eyes of most. if 5 is garbage though, or launches broken, i think the gig will be up.
