Has 343 Industries redeemed themselves with Halo:MCC

People defending SpOps? I've officially seen it all!
It's the Destiny effect.

People were like, "OMG, Spartan Ops is terrible!!!" but after Dinklage Defender Simulator 2014 (aka Destiny) people are more like"Well, I guess Spartan Ops was not so bad after all" LOL.

comparing /= defending.

it had nice environments and set pieces and the cutscenes were good, but i didn't have a reason to go back and play it, especially since it was so laggy with friends. i would have rather seen firefight or an expanded invasion gamemode with dynamic battles.

edit: on that note, would be for halo to have a never ending game mode that you matchmake into, choose a faction, and play for points. scarab battles, infantry skirmishes, objectives to capture and weapons to earn, etc. you'd leave when you earned enough points or grew bored.

I'd agree with this. I'm really looking forward to the MCC, and all of the H5 noise I've heard so far sounds good. As long as they stick to what made Halo great in the first place, they've got my money. As it stands, though, H4 is an abysmal Halo game that I quit playing within a month. I don't foresee such problems with the MCC or H5, so it seems they've learned.

Does anyone know if a mod has vetted Cybit? Just curious because that would drive my hype levels to critical mass.

Anyways, can't wait to see the Halo 5 match on November 10th

I keep trying to summon Sh0uta but no luck (I know him in RL). :D

Nah. Might as well've been any other MS owned company that did wonders with an all-in-one Halo collection (yeah, yeah, except ODST and Reach). Pretty much the only creative thing 343i did here were the 3D upgrades for Halo 2, but that's still from concept art made by Bungie and all those gorgeous CG cinematic are not even made inside of 343i.

Halo 5, like Halo 4, will be the true test of confidence for 343i and it will either be the final nail in the coffin or the reaffirmation to the Halo franchise. Honestly, I think after Halo 4, 343i has a long uphill battle ahead of themselves that I don't know if they can climb.

It was better than the Destiny campaign. And it got all kinds of better as it continued, especially the final chapters.

It was also incredibly ambitious for 343 to take on making those 50 episodes, too ambitious really, and there were hits and misses, but I had a lot of fun with in two-player and four player co-op. I know your experience was nothing but lag, but that wasn't at all how it went down for me and my group.

As mediocre as each other. I literally see red whenever Reach is mentioned. It will always be the game that set the series on the road to Halo 4 and to near ruin by forgetting its roots and instead chasing the current big thing.

Unforgivable. There's a reason that even 10 years later people are giddy at the prospect of playing Halo 2 multiplayer again. The same will never, ever be said about Reach...

Default Reach out of the box was pretty bad, but Bungie did a lot of work and introduced a lot of gametypes and Forge maps that made for a really fun experience. It doesn't have the same "core" gameplay of some of the other Halos, but stuff like Hot Potato and the Warthog Races and CTF Slayer were really fun back in the day.

343 took most of the good stuff out though :/

"cheap and nasty"

lmao. this gif is damn funny.

Updating someone else's work is not redemption. But they seem to have handled the job competently based on previews.

Absolutely disagree. MCC is just a remaster. Halo 4 multiplayer is a big bag of shit. Until they make something good on their own whichb they haven't.

And looking at that other thread, it doesn't seem like they "get it".

I mean, sure, they might fix ADS and remove it later based on feedback, but the fact that they thought it was ok to include speaks volumes about their competency.

Redeemed themselves by remastering the good games that people loved? Nope. If anything 5 is their last chance to redeem themselves from 4. But judging from what we've seen they have no idea how to do that.

Once 343 make a good Halo off their own backs then they shall be redeemed.

I withdraw my previous statement.

No, no they have not and never will. Unless a miracle happens and this somehow turns out to make sense (doubtful).

The new question is, will 343 Industries ever redeem themselves after Halo: MCC?

Hah, this.

The premise of this thread is absurd and hilarious in retrospect. I totally missed this thread back in November, so seeing it just now momentarily thinking it was new, my head almost exploded.

I agree that had the tone of that first cutscene carried through the whole game, it could have been much better. They shoved some of that plot into Spartan Ops, but I feel like that series of cutscenes was main story material.

Ok question because I haven't really been following too closely to the mess, I just know it is a mess. If I just want to be able to play Halo single player (not co-op) for the story / gameplay ... is the MCC ok for that? I never really cared for multiplayer, and while co-op would be nice, I don't have a lot of friends on XBL anyways (though I'm sure GAF could help with like, like they have with my Destiny addiction).

I've had no issues with singleplayer.

The SP campaign is not without issues but it works.

oh man, i saw this thread and was astonished. i thought it was a new thread and i almost did a spit take. glad to see it was a bumped thread because, lol, no. they *really* have not redeemed themselves lol

Yeah, i've been playing them all over the past 2 weeks in SP. No issues at all.

As a side note, Halo 4 looks unbelievable in 1080p. Could easily pass as a current gen game.
