You're amazed that the best coaches don't play to not lose?

I'm amazed that the best coaches don't play the percentages when they clearly dictate a specific decision. Hey, I gave Belichick props a few years ago for letting the other team walk in for the TD because he was playing the percentages. I was surprised he didn't yesterday when the percentages were even more clear.

Any chance the last play was a way to sabotage the game for a deal done in Vegas? Maybe I am just bored.

The only sabotage would be in Lynch's directions. If they run Lynch he gets the pub and then can say, "pay me, pay me pay me." Dude is already BEASTMODE. Add in that he ran in a TD to deny Brady/Belichick again, $$$$$$$$$$$$

Throw the ball and it's the QB is king, don't need that guy that doesn't talk, etc. /Takes conspiracy hat off

The only crazy explanation I heard was they didn't want Marshawn to get MVP for the game if the play worked, since it would mean he would have to put on some sort of PR face on the superbowl stage and he obviously ain't the type for that.

I heard that, I also heard people saying that Carroll wanted Wilson to be the true face of the franchise, not Lynch. Also heard it would allow Seattle to give Lynch less money so they could either keep him for cheap, or get rid of him and his anti-PR antics.

All the theories are dumb, lol. There are much less catastrophic ways for Seattle to say "It's been real, Marshawn."

I appreciate all the Pats players for the roles they play in contributing as a team. People scoffed when I said I miss Mayo as if hes some scrub. Before the injuries he was the teams leading tackler and I think he has allot of good football left in him. The patriot way has always been about the next man stepping up. I do wish Mayo could have been out there healthy and will look forward to seeing him bounce back next year.

I'm sorry man, but with his injury history and his age, he will not bounce back next year off a torn patellar tendon, which as it is, takes 2 years to really get back to 100%

Did someone ever put the clip of Sherman's heartbreak into the Simpsons clip?

I would like to see that.

Yes, clearly the best option would be to give Seattle a completely free play where Wilson could potentially run it in for a TD or a receiver could still get free under the assumption that Pete would choose to kick the FG instead of taking another shot at the TD on the bonus play. Totally the killer instinct needed to win a SB.

So both of you think it would be focused around Lynch. Either way, we might be all overthinking it. Just hard to believe such a nonsensical play was issued.

With the Super Bowl over, the plan is for #Patriots LB Dont'a Hightower to have labrum surgery, I’m told. Played mostly with one arm.

Mayo is also a Tennessee Vile, so screw him :P

Mayo isn't on Hightower or Collins level anymore. I will frankly be pissed if he takes meaningful reps from them. Mayo has always been overrated. He racked up tackles but rarely ever made big plays especially in big games.

Hightower and Collins have been amazing finds for the Pats. So damn happy they traded up for Hightower. Guy is going to be a beast.

Preach.

I think Mayo is decidedly inferior to Jamie Collins or Dont'a Hightower at this point. He may be a better tackler, but he's not as good as either in pass coverage or rushing the passer. I want him back on a reduced salary, of course, because I still think he's a good player, but even if he's the QB of the defense that doesn't mean he's the best.

Seriously, forget Vegas. I believe and honestly hope that Vegas isn't a factor in these decisions. As for in-house financial politics in NFL offices, yes, this kind of thing could happen. These guys are that petty.

You definitely called this...you were saying this early in the year, I wasn't on board...but I definitely agree now. I like Mayo, but I don't want him taking time from Collins and Hightower. Collins could be a multiple year all-pro player and hightower has really excelled this year.

I would like him back, but get the feeling he will be a cap casualty, especially if they want to hold onto Revis...glad he gets a ring though, he deserves it.

He has a 10 million cap hit...paycut or kick rocks. It's a no brainer decision for the Pats.

I just saw a replay of the Lane Int. The no quit in Edelman is so evident on that play.

In New England we have sick days, personal days and parade days.

I never said I believe it but it's just the drunken answer that people were throwing out there last night

Didn't realize it was that high...yeah, re-structure or cut. McCourty and Revis need to be back...Vereen was huge in the SB...but I don't think there is anyway he gets enough money to stay in NE.

Ah really? I always thought Vegas was a big force around the Super Bowl.

ok I see Mayo love has faded or never existed from some pats fans, do you guys got love for Ninkovich? I also like the Ayers guy.

Ninkovich is great, but I also don't think he's good enough to be a full time, 96% of snaps kind of starter. I hope one of the first two picks is on an edge rusher to spell, then replace Ninkovich opposite Chandler Jones.

Ninkovich is very very average. Somehow
because of his race
he's become a folk legend in New England. Dude is overrated over here easily. People talk about him like he's some sort of 10-15 sack monster DE. I really like Ayers as well. Hope the Pats can keep him. With a full off season I think they can really find ways to incorporate him in that defense. Might be mostly on passing downs, but can still be an asset.

So, nfl fans...have a question about the end of the first half that nobody has brought up. With Seattle lining up on the 6yd line with 6 seconds to go Wilson threw an easy TD because the receiver was played soft (wtf?).

In this situation is there ANY reason to not tell your secondary to just tackle all receivers as they come off the line of scrimmage? You get called for a penalty but time isn't added to the clock, the ball is moved to the 3yd line (half the distance) and Seattle is forced to kick a field goal (or risk getting zero points). What am I missing here???

True, the Patriots could have done that. There's a lot of risk with trying to tackle a WR at the line of scrimmage, and if you miss the player will get by you. The Defensive calls on that drive before the half were really bad.

Who cries over football srs

People that refer to themselves as "the twelve"

It's still crazy to think that Revis has a ring... and he got it as a Patriot.

Never ever would have imagined that. Damn.

I hope Rex is crying

Absolutely, not to mention the ridiculous lack of leverage on mayos part. The defense improved when he went out and he was outplayed by his replacements. On top of that 2 seasons in a row have ended very early for him on major injuries, and without him we still went on to win a superbowl. He has no ground to stand on. His best option is to take the paycut and stay here were he can remain a pat and keep himself relevant, because otherwise he will fade away completely. If he even does come back I don't think he'll be a factor either way.

Just want to point out - even Peyton Manning would have run the ball there.

Am I out if touch or is it common to record yourself watching a game? Nobody I know does this and it would never occur to me.

We live in a selfie generation. Everyone records or takes photo of themselves or the things around them all the time. Also reaction videos are hugely popular.

I still love watching Red Wedding reaction videos sometimes.

Anyone else noticed Butler's teammates pushed him down after the interception so he doesn't run it out for a possible fumble? Smart move.

And removes all chances of something good happening for your team. Belichick explained it all really well in his post-game interviews. Belichick doesn't coach like a pansy. Never has, probably never will. Much to his credit, neither does Pete. And it burns both of them sometimes. The alternative is being John Fox. Bleh.
What does this statement mean? As someone who follows the Bears, as in watches them almost every game, but doesn't pay attention to the finer workings of the whole NFL, I don't know much about John Fox. I just hear it's good a thing he's come to Chicago.
