That ending was fantastic! That lucky catch and then the interception.

Oh boy. Really enjoyed it.

Could someone explain how a kneel down wins the game though?

As someone from the UK I'm going to be watching a whole load more next season, always liked to watch it even though I don't get all the rules.

You kneel down at the end of the game to run down the clock.
Kneeling down counts as a play. You lose a down and the clock continues to run.

I would have taken an INT instead of him watching Cruz catch the first TD of the '11 Super Bowl.

Ok and you can isolate plays of pretty much any player out there in history. Mayo was one of the better run defending LBs in the game and he always kept the play in front of him. If the secondary wasn't held together by chewing gum and spit back then they would've been tough to get by.

Nice little player is all I'm getting at. A play like that was no surprise to me is all.

Ninkovich is very very average. Somehow
because of his race
he's become a folk legend in New England. Dude is overrated over here easily. People talk about him like he's some sort of 10-15 sack monster DE. I really like Ayers as well. Hope the Pats can keep him. With a full off season I think they can really find ways to incorporate him in that defense. Might be mostly on passing downs, but can still be an asset.

Nink is a prototypical Belichick defensive player. He can play almost any position, and for a player who can (and does) drop into coverage almost as many times as he rushes, his 8 sacks in three straight seasons is good.

I really want the Patriots to stick with Akeem Ayers... He's a first-round talent that the Patriots got for next to nothing, but I don't think they'll resign him. His snap count was really diminished by week 10 or so. I think he only recorded like 6 tackles in the last 8 games, although had that one sack against the Jets.

Can the Seahawks coach challenge the Interception play as a pass interference?
I always think pass interference is like a grey area...

Can't challenge penalties, other than some procedural ones like 12 men on the field. But, it wasn't PI anyway. The contact was nearly instantaneous to the interception, and defensive players have a right to play the ball, although the way the game is called doesn't always seem like they do.

According to the medical staff (Pats and independent doctors appointed by the league), Edelman was tested for a concussion during the game and passed the test. So to all "durrrr they cheated and didn't test him" folks, boohoo.

The sherman pic reminds me of this one pic, I think it was Jeremy Shockey, from that one game against the Seahawks where they missed the FG.

It's the same reaction we all had last night. =(

2005, as I recall.
I'm pretty sure I watched this live, so 2006 at the latest.

this was the first season of NFL i followed. Still dont know a lot of the rules and tactics (i am from europe), but it was quite the ride (still sour about that Packers loss though).
Looking forward to next season! Go Pack go!

If putting a player in that doesn't know left from right is "cheating" now, I'm so confused about the state of the NFL...

I'd be shocked if he's not concussed...at least a somewhat less severe concussion.

Do you have a pic or link to a video?

I think he's talking about right after the two head coaches said whatever they say to each other at mid field, Belichick was being led away by security and a big Seahawks player stepped up on him, camera cut away right then. I'm on mobile so someone else will probably be faster finding a pic or video. I thought it was odd as well.

It was after the game and people were walking on the field. Sorry no video.

Yeah, that's it. Looked very weird.

I liked how the referees mostly let the teams play and called very few penalties.

It's ironic that a poster asked if a coach could challenge the non-PI goal line pick call considering how the Seahawks defense has a very aggressive defense and they do those kinds of PI moves that don't get called.

Think it was just the usual "good game" exchanges. The player was Michael Bennett, #72 for the seahawks.

Probably, only reason it looked odd is because the Seahawks player had his angry face on and Belichick had a deer caught in the headlights look right when the camera went somewhere else.

To answer your question in-depth.

The game clock only continues to tick when plays are done and the ball remains on the field. When a ball is thrown or run out of bounds, the clock stops so they can reset. Kneeling down in that situation counts as getting tackled and since the ball is on the field the clock continues to tick. They ran the clock off to 0 so that the other team doesn't get a chance to play the ball hence winning the game.

It's essentially stalling.

Yep. It's akin to doing substitutions in soccer in extra time and walking on and off the field to waste time, or kicking the ball super high in the air.

Still so happppyyyyyy

But kinda annoyed now they scheduled the pats parade for tomorrow.

People are gonna be at work and school, not to mention they're still gonna be cleaning up snow. So dumb but whatever. I'll take a long lunch break to see it

Anyone saying cheating was being ridiculous. On the other had, if he had been allowed back into the game without proper testing then it would have been yet another disgusting example of the NFL ignoring player safety.

The shitty part is I worked from home last Friday and today, so asking to not go into the office tomorrow is going to be shitty to ask for

Thanks for all the answers to the kneel. Makes sense now.
Here the treatise: On Bended Knee. If Pete Carroll had called for a bended knee play, instead of a pass or run play, the Seahawks would have won
;-P

It's more like shielding the ball by the corner flag. The referee is actually required to tack back on wasted time but shielding the ball is allowed

Well true, but they never seem to add on the "correct" amount of time. Your analogy is better tho I agree.

bwahahah oh man I missed the 4th quarter last night and I know I'm LTTP here but I finally saw the final play.

I hate both teams, but not gonna lie it felt good seeing Sherman cry. If you rewind it you could see the exact point where his heart breaks.

smh seahawks. why would you throw it. Gonna try to find the live reactions to it in this thread now. lololol

Parade is on the day I have no classes? Sick!

-14 wind chill tomorrow lol holy shit, I'll be there too though!

anyways 2 things

1. Gronk has cemented himself among the all time greats of TEs. I myself laughed off this notion earlier in the season, but even if his career ends prematurely given his injury history, he's already pretty damn high up the TE TD list, he has a superbowl TD, he has comeback player of the year, and now he's got the ring to prove it. Tony G and Gates are amazing, but they never got their rings (gates most likely never will), and gronk given a few healthy seasons can pass these guys TD totals long before they got there.

2. I'm in love with this guy. Definition of grit, hard work, and toughness.
