I know, that they are allowed to keep their number. But i have missed that he really going to keep it. Cool! Although I have to admit, that I'll miss the '1' a little.

For that matter, what's Seb's number? I'm not sure we've ever had a chance to see it.

He's ALIVE!

We've had a loss of cooling water pressure & have removed the power unit for inspection. That’s a long process, so it ends today's running.

We can replace those components ahead of running tomorrow. The issue was promptly spotted by Fernando on an outlap - so quick to trace.

At least they covered good number of laps before problem.

Looks like Kimi may be done for the day. Just saw him go to the motorhome without his race suit on.

EDIT: Never mind. Looks like it was just a piss break. He's back out.

Until now

Sauber will lap the field at Melbourne. Guaranteed.

I find it hard not getting confident that they'll be somewhat competitive this year. I know you can't really rely on testing times.....but still....

Love Autosports SAUBERFACT entries...

Is it this year that the four engines rule will kick in?

Wasn't the whole "Korean Grand Prix in the Calendar" thing just to be able to rise it to 5 legally?

Mercedes should have skipped this test. Rosberg out there logging miles and miles.

They should put Magny Cour and Fuji back on the calendar to replace them.

I would like Fuji. I've never seen a Magny Cours GP. I love driving the track virtually but not sure how it would fit current F1 cars.

Sauber was great in pre-season testing back in 2010. But when the season started, they were either cooking their engines or sucking badly for the first half of that year. In the end they only finished 8th, losing to Force India by a large margin. No one was predicting it can happen, but it did.

Fast forward to 2015 and devoid of sponsorship Sauber is once again lighting up time charts. Surely great season is awaiting. /not-a-single-hint-of-sarcasm

Pretending to be competitive must be part of the Ferrari engine deal.

Let's all look into the future and see how Haas F1 is doing in next years first test!

...probably about as well as Force India this year

Supposedly Vettel is done testing today having tried everything he or they wanted to try out and is making way for Kimi. I don't know how that fits into what you guys are posting but he was in the canteen for lunch in Maranello today.

He was only allowed to do two days of testing, same with all drivers.

@Nuclear_Fishin asks: "#askautosport Why is it that the McLaren setup issues couldn't be figured out at the factory before reaching the track? Is it that new?"

CRAIG SCARBOROUGH: "I understand the entire Honda power unit is new since the Abu Dhabi test. It will have been rig tested but once installed in a car other factors can come into play. With these extremely complex engines even a small problem can stop the car for hours."

Also:

"I have to say the McLaren in design terms looks as though it could be the best out there. Their packaging of the rear end is a step ahead of the other teams.

"Of course there’s more to making the package work than a tight rear end, but once sorted on the power unit McLaren could be threatening for podiums later in the year."

Good, good.

Merc's mileage is insane. I'm getting giddy for the season. Lewis was all smiles yesterday. I think that third wdc is on the horizon. PEACE.

Speaking of which: I know the cynical answer, of course, but what's the official story on what the money raised through fines goes towards?

Pretty sure it goes towards the FIA's road safety awareness programme. Could be wrong though.

Nasr said that the car is predictable, easy to handle, and that the Ferrari engine is similar to the Merc engine he drove last year on Williams. These are good signs, especially because the car seems to be reliable.

It's been said that the Sauber crew looks excited too, but nobody expects them to win or to come back to the podium, not even themselves. Their objective is to gather points. They won't lap anyone, but they'll probably won't be as bad as people expect them to be.
