Sky Sports News HQ’s Craig Slater has the latest on Marussia:

“Marussia have announced their intention to come out of administration by a company voluntary arrangement. I have been in touch with their administrators and one of them - James Rossiter – has released this statement:

‘It is envisaged that, prior to the commencement of the first race of the 2015 season, investment into the business will be made upon the Company exiting from administration via a Company Voluntary Arrangement (“CVA”), which is planned for 19 February 2015. A CVA is a restructuring process agreed with the Company’s creditors which allows for a turnaround of the business and the creation of a longer term viable solution for the team.’

“My understanding have followed these negotiations is that one of the key factors is that Marussia will get their prize money from the 2014 season – somewhere in excess of £30m. Now that that is firmly in place they are a much more attractive proposition for a buyer.

“My understanding is that John Booth and Graeme Lowdon will be running the team and they do plan to take part in the first race.”

.

That's interesting, I doubt they'll make it to the end of the season, or even to the European races, but good on them for surviving, I guess...

Track is drying quickly now, Hamilton now first with a 1:28.977

My worry for them is even if they get a car to the track how far off the pace it'll be with no development work done for so long.

Aldo Costa:

"The W06 is not an evolution of the W05 like many people said, but a completely new car even in the layout, but I don't want to get into details. In Jerez we're always running full tank and with a racing setup, so everyone else could infer our pecking order...

we cannot know where other teams stand if they don't run or run with low fuel. In Barcelona [test] 1 and especially [test] 2 we'll concentrate on pure performance, when all the developments for the [Australia] race will be ready.

Ted Kravitz regarding Marussia:

Could they be a McLaren B team?

“I’ve just asked McLaren and they say we are not involved with this. If it is Honda it is not going to work with the 2014 car because of the way the engine mountings are. They could use Ferrari for a year and then move to Honda, but Honda have their own problems to sort out, they are not in the business at the moment of getting another team on board. And we’ve had that denial from McLaren that they are involved.”

In three days Lotus managed to get more mileage than McLaren and Red Bull together in four.

Bottas and Massa are very happy with the new Williams. They say that it is better than last year's car.

Lotus is also happy with the Mercedes engine. They say it is much better than last year's Renault.

The gossip sites say it's over "commitment issues". I guess she's mad that he's not signed a new Mercedes deal.

lol

He's biggest problem is letting his personal life taking hold of his emotions and affecting his on track performance. Should at least be a 3 time world champ by now.

It's being reported that Justin King, who was CEO of J Sainsbury plc for 10 years until last year, is the man behind Marussia rescue bid

Hope they have the resources to compete, but it's going to be a very hard fight for Manor to survive.

I think it's pretty unfair to blame everything on his personal life and say it's the reason he didn't win more championships. During the one season he went really crazy, in 2011, Red Bull and Vettel were dominating anyway. In 2012 it was McLaren who screwed him over, I think.

Did we already get an analysis of how promising the different cars look on track regarding handling, etc.?

It's already being said that McLaren is in trouble. Both the chassis and the engine are bad at the moment.

But is it the chassis acting bad as the engine isn't performing or the other way around? People were complimenting the McLaren packaging a couple of days ago.

Yep 2012 lewis would have kerb stomped the championship if it wasn't for multiple breakdowns from the lead.

EDD STRAW says the Ferrari looked really good turning into the chicane, so perhaps Raikkonen finally has the front-end feeling to the car that he craves.

Sounds promising. Trying not to get my hopes up.

Many people saying the McLaren is looking good, manynpeople saying it's looking bad. I love testing season.

It's faaaaar too early to make judgements on the McLaren. The engine has had many issues that they still need to sort and they still have another version to come in the next test and then another one at the final test. It was only 4km/h slower than the Merc yesterday at the speed trap but needs a lot of fine tuning.

The chassis is also very early days, it seems to be missing lots of bits (like a money seat) but from what I've read it seems stable. Alonso was able to break earlier than Rosberg into turn 1 (which could be due to speed or anything I admit) but we just don't know. This test was all about getting the bloody thing to work, it may be a world beater or it may be a dud but we just don't know at the moment. All the words coming from the team have been positive though and have read multiple quotes of people watching the mechanics and they seem calm, not in a panic at all.

Edit:

Matt Morris is in a press conference now and has said they have finally fixed the issues and are only now working on performance.

Matt Morris at McLaren just told a bunch of us that McLaren's issues have been 'minor' and that they've had a couple of operational issues that have cost them time too.

So while they're frustrated that they've had so many issues, they insist that they've all been easy to fix and that they can get out in Barcelona and really start working through their development programme.

Time to get hype guys ?
CRAIG SCARBOROUGH: "Ferrari has turned a corner, it just needs to catch up the last stretch to Mercedes. The car looks a lot more stable, improved engine power and drivability is helping balance in the turns and the aero looks far more sorted than last year.

"An image of the diffuser covered in flow-viz showed really good flow lines, compared to the disturbed air passing through last year's underbody.

I know that test times are worth shit, but just imagine for a second Vettel winning the championship in his first Ferrari season. Alonso's face would be priceless.

Nope. It's the same story every season.

I can't tell you how conflicted I am by the prospect of supporting Ferrari. I'm a big fan of Vettel and Raikkonen, but I've always disliked Ferrari.

There should just be a face cam on Alonso the entire time after Vettel finishes the championship winning race until he receives the trophy at the FIA conference.

Live stream that 24/7 for 9,99 a month, I'll gladly pay Bernie for that.

If Ferrari suddenly gets good, can we at least agree that Alonso has never really proven he's the legendary driver people make him out to be?

I can't take it anymore...
14:31 It's a 1m20.841s for Raikkonen on the soft-compound Pirellis. That's the fastest time of the week - pipping Vettel's best earlier in the week of 1m20.9s.

14:30 And in sector two...

14:29 We have a new overall best in the first sector from Raikkonen...

Testing times mean nothing, testing times mean nothing, repeat after me...
