I... don't know how to respond to this.

Amazon.co.uk charges a shipping premium to get the product delivered overseas, the US and UK have a perfectly legal international trade agreement, and there are no region controls on the Amiibos themselves.

Why should we be concerned with Nintendo's international shipping blunders, and conciously choosing not to buy from the UK branch of an american company?

I mean, I totally get your initial reaction from a purely emotional standpoint, but it doesn't pass muster.

I'm not really mad at GAFers or people in this thread. Just pissed that after setting as many alerts and stock checks and whatever I could, they still got bought up in under 40 minutes. Anyone buying more than one is scum though.

My guess? They setup the planograms before they got stock. Once they saw how many of each they had, they realized that after fulfilling pre-orders they wouldn't have enough to send meaningful stock nationwide.

Be mad at Amazon for not limiting per customer.
Be mad at Nintendo for not stocking them.
Hell, be mad at Amazon for offering international shipping if you want.

But to be mad at the people who are simply ordering an international item from an international store? Come on.

I didn't buy any, but the real villain here are not the Amiibros in this thread, but Nintendo for not making enough of these things.

Euro still seemed to have things more together for a bit. I think its starting to catch on there now, on top of the US starting to look for other ways to get things that we clearly don't have enough supply for.

I only ordered one of each though, and i didn't even get in on the 2 FE characters or Ness.

Please feel free to snag US ones when the pre-orders go up though. Sadly, this is what Nintendo has basically forced to happen.

Because all the major cities in the U.S. are just a hop, skip, and jump away right? Not to mention we're the only country that has to deal with retailer exclusives. Even in Los Angeles these things can be literally IMPOSSIBLE to find. If you wanted Lucina, you should have been faster.

This has been the only time I've ordered from the UK and I promise I only ordered 1 of each of the three I wanted.

These have been some of my most wanted ones and wanted to order from something that I could as soon as I can. I didn't want a repeat of the Rosalina at 2:30 in the morning on the target site for 3 minutes only again :(

I was getting more pissed off at the people who bought one (or more) 'just in case'. I'll repeat again though, I'm not mad at the people in this thread, it was a general kneejerk reaction at being pissed that I wasn't on at the EXACT moment they went live. I expected a window of slightly larger than half an hour.

I feel ya but the situation in the U.S. is pretty dire. Retail exclusive and scalpers make finding amiibo of any level of rarity very very difficult.

Is there any reason Ike is so cheap on Amazon.UK? He's been my main/favorite fire emblem character forever so I jumped at $10 thinking he'd be hard to come by.
 
Given the obscurity of characters in future waves, they will probably have the least stock available. I got lucky with Wave 4 but I'm not looking forward to Wave 5 pre-orders when that day comes.
 
You guys don't have it that bad. Being bought up in half an hour ain't so bad. A lot of the stuff in Canada is barely around for 5 minutes. And there is literally NOTHING EVER in stores might I add

I mean, they were on sale for 30 min straight. It sucks you missed out on it. And I agree, it sucks that sites like Amazon don't restrict orders locally. But they haven't for a long time. They are an international company, and specifically sell items that way.

Really, this comes down to Nintendo. There is no reason they can't make more of these. There is no reason they can't make enough, that pre-orders sell out in 40 min, and then that's that. That they don't even have enough stock to go beyond pre-orders in some cases.

There is no reason these can't have more stock made. The reason you are seeing these sell out in 40 min, or seeing people other regions putting in pre-orders, is because Nintendo is choking the supply on purpose, to make the demand go up. I just think instead of calling other people assholes for having the same chance you did, you should be calling out Nintendo for being scumbags for implementing this strategy of artificially creating demand by choking the supply.

They ARE the reason this is happening. I love Nintendo. But they get too much of a free pass. I get that they are a business. And that this kind of thing is making them money. And is a success. But they are also shitting on their consumers, and making them have a truly terrible customer experience with these. They are making hand over fist money with this, but at the expense of shitting on all their customers.

People over at Reddit bought 5 of each one. But I would say while that is certainly greedy as fuck, Amazon is stupid for not setting limits. I mean, what the fuck is wrong with these companies that they don't have a concept of limits for items being bought. Ridiculous.

Reading that just made me realize that earlier that when I was checking the price and tried placing some into my cart that there was no limit. Did anyone order 100 on here? Seriously though... how is it possible that we're on wave 4 and retailers still don't understand that they need to put a stupid limit on these things. And no not a limit for a single order and then let them constantly re-order. I heard Future Shop last night allowed people to just check out another Rosalina every 5 seconds last night. Is that true (I'm not Canadian so I've never shopped with Future Shop before. Just read it somewhere)

My debit card mainly which I was told would be fine if I tell them ahead of time, but it never seemed to work for me so I gave up. lol I also have this dumb card my university gave me that I had to have for my refunds and stuff that never worked. I don't have an amazon credit card, but I have one through my bank now that I'm giving a try.
 
Well I guess I ordered my first Amiibo. Wario Ware style Wario is unlikely to get another figurine as they'll probably use his standard attire for other lines (like the Mario one) so I thought this one would be worth it.

Now I wait for Mr G&W and R.O.B to be announced.

I blame retailers too that don't put a limit of 2 or 3 at the most on each figure. You have people pulling true dick moves like ordering 40 figures.

I feel so bad for everyone who wants to collect them. The urge is strong, and this SHOULD be fun. It SHOULD be something you can lean back in your chair and look forward to. Instead, you're leaning forward, jamming the F5 key and ending up stressed and disappointed.

I don't even collect them and it makes me so angry. It's not an issue of supply and demand. This is intentional, and it's a massive shame.

Unfortunately I doubt many will cancel. If you thought 35 mins was a short time, now imagine how quickly these will go here in the US. Unless Amazon limits you to two, which I suspect they will since they did that with the super mario line. Even then though...

Oh yeah, Retailers share the blame too. Certainly. They ARE a factor in all of this. In this case, why didn't Amazon make it 1 per customer? Why didn't they restrict it to ONE region (in this case, Amazon has always been an international company though).

Point is, retailers set policy. So, they share blame too for making these sales unfair. But at the end of the day, it still comes back to Nintendo choking supply to drive up demand, and they are doing it at the expense of their customers.

So people should really be pointing their anger towards them.

I can vouch that Jason is 100% legit. He's sent me over 6 Amiibos now through USPS and none of them had had issues. USPS really fucked up badly here. I can't believe this. Maybe we can get someone here to donate WFT and Fox to you?

Amazon is a global retailer. Your argument is moot. Saying people steal because they made a purchase before is nonsense.

Are you in the U.S.?

If so, TRU never got Ike or Dedede yet. Ike and Dedede got pushed to mid or late Feb with no concrete date yet. And most stores only got Bowser, Toon Link and Sheik -- period.

I would go grab Toon Link and Sheik now if they really have them. As Sheik is pretty much non-existent stock wise. And Toon Link is quickly becoming non-existent too. Butt those 3 are all that Wave 3 has been in NA so far. Nothing else has come out (except Rosie and Lucario, but those were exclusives).
