Persona 5 New Trailer

Some people on Reddit are convinced it's Vincent. I...don't see it at all.

I see it, but that's definitely the main character. He looks like Vincent's son.

Edit:

what a disappointing looking game. I am baffled at atlus for producing this throughout all of the time they have had. back to waiting for witcher 3 I suppose

Some elaboration would be nice. Unless you expected this to look as good graphically as the witcher 3 coming out of a solidly AA developer? Cause then I'd just laugh at you.

Oh my fucking goddddd. <33333333333

I got excited at just looking how snazzy and stylish the menus are.

Atlus, you've got me by the balls. <3

ye, we haven't seen any conversations, but the general vibe for me is that 2d artworks won't be there

It's highly unlikely it will just be these party members, most of the footage is from the 11th of April in the game.

We'll see more characters in upcoming reveals I'm sure.

The character designs are ace, as usual, and the style and music are spot on but I'm not excited. I still don't know how the game is going to play and if the game is just going to be an update of the systems in P3 and P4, then I don't know if I should even bother. As much as I loved P3 and P4 -- both among the best RPGs I've ever played -- I'm over the predictable to brainless turn-based battles and the dungeon crawling. It's a 60 hours I don't feel like spending.

This shows the anime cut ins beneath the ui. I guess this thing will be here in the place of portraits.

Why in place of portraits? The cut ins happen in a cutscene, so we could still see portraits during normal conversations (didn see any of those in the trailer).

Me neither but whatever, this is the first real trailer and people will always draw premature conclusions. Just like the people saying there aren't any more party members besides the ones shown in the trailer, I mean, really? It's the first trailer.

This trailer was REALLY good. I just hope Persona 5 is shorter than its predecessors. I have never been able to finish a Persona game because of how ridiculously over-lengthened they are.

I think it's more in line with the gentleman thief archetype, picaresque novels and crime genres than some kind of comic book superhero thing.

Ah okay, that makes more sense. Fits with the prison theme.

I mean, look Rockstar, Persona 5 looks great and all, but when are we getting heists?

I'm really loving this use of a dynamic camera. Really increases the intensity and striking appearance of the scenes. Also loving the contrast and how the trailer gets crazier and "freer" as it goes on

That seems like an odd complaint? Did people like the color coded shadows in p3/4 more than the demons in older Persona and SMT games?
I could only name the reaper and maybe voltron as enemy's i cared for at all in P3 and P4. And those lions with floating balls were especially stupid looking. Most of them do look cute and all, but can't really stand up to the demon designs really.

Yar, the previous Persona titles didn't show all party members during the first reveal, so I don't think they'd do that in this case, also.

Besides, the intro has this fifth person:

I was thinking this as well, the early promo stuff for P4 only had Yu, Yosuke, Chie, and Yukiko. P3 only had Minato, Junpei, and Yukari I think. I never assumed these 4 were it though.

Do you know how many times do I have watched the trailer already today?

5 times!! 5 fucking times!! This game will make me buy a PS4.

Well, in Japan you have to study, and take university entrance exams and all that in order to get in. Last year of high school is lots of studying. Less emphasis on clubs and all that. If a character was a third year I think it might be weird for him to join a club.
I work with one girl in the 3rd year, and she says she doesn't even have school any more because it is done for 3rd years (though obviously I expect there are still graduation ceremonies and stuff) and she just has been preparing for university.
Unless it has been confirmed otherwise, I'd imagine these characters are maybe 2nd year? Or maybe I'm just confused and high school life in Japan isn't like that/It is less emphasized in the game.

Thanks for the expanded detail. In America too you of course have University prep, but it's nowhere near as intense.

I was wondering if there were any special festivals or events they participated in aside, like special 'grade 12' ceremonies or whatever but University Prep alone will be cool if they handle it right. I'll have to be a drop out with all the dungeon crawling I'll be doing ;)

My expectations were blown away. My jaw is still on the ground.
The menu navigation is pretty slick too. Character models look really detailed.
Someone hold me.

I dunno how to feel if there's no social link or dating simulation segments. It looks awesome as fuck regardless though.

I wonder if there'll ever be a japanese developer or mangaka with the balls to not have the MC have the classroom desk next to the window...maybe we'll finally get on in 2015 lol

Maybe not stand ins for portraits but a notice of the state of emotion for the character. Sort of like the *ping* when some positive interaction happens and you gain towards an s.link in the previous games.
