At best it's around a month delay between NA/Japan. Ultimax has tons of dialogue and is fully voice-acted and it came out here 32 days after the Japan console release.

A month of turnaround time is insanely optimistic.Three months minimum for Persona 5, I think.

Everything looked great but I guess I was expecting something that looked better gameplay wise. I'm satisfied with the look though, just expected more.

Is there good reason to think there will be more party members then just blonde guy, blonde girl and cat?

Somehow I doubt that the party members you meet in the first couple days of the game are the entire party you will ever have for the course of the year. If you were to show footage of April 11th Persona 4, you might think that the party only consists of Protag, Chie, Yukiko, and Yousuke.

I really hope there's less "I wasn't able to make any decisions about my life whatsoever until you showed up, Senpai!" this time around.

P3 wasn't like that. Party members dealt with their own shit on their own time.

For myriad reasons I hope this game takes more inspiration from P3 than P4. But P4 is much more popular, so I fear I'll be disappointed.

Well. My word.

As someone who liked P4G but didn't LOVE it, this game looks goddamn fantastic. I'm glad they didn't just make something identical to the corridor dungeons of P4 because the thought of having to do that again would drive me insane. I mean, obviously it'll still be procedurally generated dungeons, but they look like they've really expanded on previous gameplay in a big way.

Day 1.

Game looks spectacular but

This has me a bit worried. Social Links were my favorite part of the Persona games. I hope they're still in the game.

Cooperation is most likely the new S.Link. Maybe there'll be a criminal spin to them now.
S.Links are called Community in the Japanese version anyhow, so not seeing an S.Link option in the menu shouldn't worry you at all.

The graphics here look soooo good. One question, are the cut in 2d expressions a nw take on this:

Animated expressions and the art is such high quality :o

Persona 4 was 5 months, and I believe Nich M suggested it was a hell of a grind to get it out for Christmas. However, it looks like they are aiming for shorter. I don't think they would have re-iterated the NA 2015 if they hadn't started planning work.

Why are people worried about this? Persona games are just as much about the school life aspect and social links/Sim as it is about the RPG for many. Do you really think they're not gonna have this aspect in Japan?

Haven't gotten all the way through this thread yet, but if anyone is saying that this reminds them a lot of Cowboy Bebop - I agree.

A lot of the visual style, camera angles, sets, music, and graphics look like updated Bebop to me. (which is good, I guess, since Bebop was awesome)

It's basically a modern version Lupin III, a 70's thief anime which also heavily influenced Cowboy Bebop.

That's also a different situation since Arcsys was the developer. A lot of their games have their menus and stuff completely in English already if you happen to import JP copies. JP Guilty Gear Xrd was completely in English for example, and I believe Ultimax was too.

Would be nice to see P5 come out here that quickly, but until Atlus USA says so themselves, I'd expect 2-3 months at best honestly.
Atlus handles all the story, text and localization for the Arena series, though. Arcsys doesn't do any localization themselves, they always work with another publisher. Aksys for Guilty Gear/Blazblue, and then Atlus is for Arena... since it's their property.

I can foresee the localization being shorter than for any other mainline Persona game since there's no way they haven't been working on the English side-by-side with the Japanese.

Ugh, I really hate the idea of Persona 5 coming out in November. Really hate it. It would be real unfortunate.

Why if you don't mind me asking?

Only threw out November due to P4G and PQ's NA release dates. That and I don't see this game releasing in Japan before or close to P4DAN's release, so August-September seems likely if the plan is to release this game in 2015 in NA, but still take a few months for localization.

Also, I'm really loving this whole anti-hero/vigilante aspect to the characters. It's pretty standard in the west for protagonists nowadays, but it's a pretty fresh idea for the Persona series and most JRPGs in general (funny enough, only SMT tends to do anti heroes in JRPGs).

I wouldn't worry about it. The whole high school life side of the game ie non-dungeon crawling segment would be pretty empty/boring if there weren't any social links. I'm sure they will be present.

I do admit that cooperation sounds like there's going to be an interesting spin on them, and I didn't realize that they had a different name for them in the Japanese version so that probably explains it.

Anyway I'm fully on board on this hype train. The obligatory mascot character looks far more tolerable than Teddie does.

I feel like they'll do both, and use the new "ripped page" emotion for like the normal "surprised" emotion they did before and have the normal profile images for conversations.

It was also never called as Social Link in Japan. Cooperation looks like to be it, and judging by the name, I hope any individual who involved with the cooperation is at least related to the main story.
Must have missed that news at some point.

Well PS4 version was announced with the official English teaser announcement.

I really like the way Atlus are approaching the graphic design elements with this. Trailer looked great, just want to see some full gameplay and how it flows now.

The Japanese term for social link was commu/community. But yes, it's probably in the cooperation menu.

Is this the first time I'll be buying a japanese copy, and 2 copies of the us game? (or any game really)
Fuck yes. Into my goddamn veins.
I'm not about dat cat life tho =/ why not a dog ;_;

I really liked that trailer. You can tell that Catherine was a test for this game through the gameplay we saw and the art design for each character.

I think we'll see a release in Japan in the summer and North America in November, December. As usual Europe might be left until early 2016.

are they playing a tabletop RPG in that trailer? or just looking at a a map of someplace?

Clearly planning out a heist.

I don't like November because it's too close to the end of the year. Persona 5 will have a ton of big profile games to vie for attention with, people might not get to it in time for Game of the Year recognition, and it's generally too noisy a time of year for me to want to see a game like Persona 5 release in. Maybe that's misdirected, but I think anything earlier than November would be way better, purely in terms of the game's own success.
