The Order 1886 gameplay vids

I believe Shinobi has previously said that RAD developed and created the game entirely on their own. So whatever Santa Monica's involvement is, it is not represented in the game itself. Maybe just marketing assistance or something like helping create trailers?

Interesting, Thanks for notify me.

I'm calling it now: This game isn't just set in 1886

Posted this back in january:

All this focus on modern times leads me to believe a few things are possible. A. The game is told from a modern time perspective, as someone is reading stories written about the order from the past. B. The game has some time jumping around that they haven't shown off at all and are keeping secret. Or C. If it does well they can do a sequel in more modern times.

So I'm right there with you.

Yes you're right, i just saw that Santa Monica is co developing it, I didn't know, I used to think it was a RAD game published by Sony à la infamous at the time, Pardon me.

Is anyone know what part of the game Santa Monica studio has done for this game ?
Santa Monica assisted in the way you'd expect a company would in a publisher position.

In terms of actual development of the game itself (engine, art, programming, assets, writing, etc) all in-house. This is 100% Ready at Dawn's baby.

Yeah those "viral" videos about them finding weapons from the past lends credence to that theory.

I wonder if it'll just be flashbacks, or even more. Time travel? :O

Im hoping the game doesnt jump to present day, too much interesting history...need some industrial revolution....or WW1...or Great Depression...or WW2....or I dunno a hundred and fifty years of history

EDIT: Basically you could make the series into a kick ass MIB or Hellboy-like series

Rash conclusion? What?

I'm just wondering what the chances are that the first non-media controlled (seemingly) 10 minutes of footage to come from The Order is dull. I'm not saying anything more than "Gosh, that footage is dull".

The Italian guy commenting is saying that he skipped some "things you have to do, so that you don't see me doing it and save it for when you play".

So, he made the video specifically not to include anything action-y

Maybe there'll be sequels set during different '6s. I'm looking forward to The Order 1956 where you face off against Lycanthropic Teddyboys.

Keep in mind, they did the same kind of viral campaign for SotC (fake news stations reporting on gigantic stone creatures someone unearthed in present time) but the game itself had no time jumps or anything of that sort at all.

I need a WW1 game, and this the perfect game for it.

Thank you very much for the confirmation about Santa Monica involvement with The Order, an amazing work that I can't wait to try, I'm Hype as hell !

How much help and creative freedom did Sony give them? Can we expect them to stay exclusive to Sony in the future?

you guys must be using the wrong product then because my hair bounces like that all the time, so glad RAD captured realistic hair movement

You could expect The Order 1886 as an IP (and any sequels) to stay exclusive, yea. Sony was 100% supportive of all creative decisions. Definitely one of their better attributes.

I think we may begin in 21st century London. The Order 1886 will be a flashback. We'll begin by exploring London's underground to find the remnants of the Order and THEN we'll flash back to 1886. Towards the end we'll return to 21st century London and we'll see a vampire. The END. To be continued ...

The game also taking place in modern times would be some M. Night Shyamalan level twist.

I genuinely cannot get over how good it looks. Like, it kind of makes me laugh, I'm that giddy about it. It essentially comes off like playable CGI. It's not necessarily just the graphics themselves either, but the art, design, atmosphere and incredible attention to detail. All the material accuracy, geometry, physics, volumetrics, way light bounces around, the perfectly seamless transitions between cut scene and gameplay, the way you can move stuff around when you grab it, examining the work that went in to things as simple as a rifle, random object, poster or letter, the way paper has a slight realistic transparency to it, the way light accurately affects it, and the ink printed on the other side, the way holes look punctured through it and so on and so on. There's a tonne in this short video that for those who appreciate these things, could really feel immersed in. I feel like I'm going to be examining every nook and cranny and admiring all the effort that went in to building this authentic feeling world.

I'm glad it's in Italian, so I don't know what the hell they're speaking about, but this opening scene really sets the tone. I'm already completely drawn in.

Hoping RAD are a bit more positive about the handling of the game at present compared to before, because I'd say the last few weeks the marketing has really been on point. In-fact, it seems like it's had a bit more care and thought than most games, what with all the mini sites, numerous different titbits of viral marketing, videos and all the rest. Super bowl ad can't have been cheap either. Here's hoping it gets more regular TV advertising too.

It got a superbowl ad? New footage?

I just saw our commercial on ESPN, so it's certainly out there. :)

Awesome.

One other thing, if it's at all in RAD's position to advise on this, try and get UK pricing for the game more in line with the norm. I get that it's set in London, hence there could be more natural demand, but all retailers/etailers are charging £49 for the game. I feel like if it was closer to that £40-£45 mark that most pre-orders are, it'd be doing better sales wise. It may only just be a few bob difference, but every little helps, and the UK market I feel is pretty price conscious.

OK that Violin piece from the first video is amazing, you just feel that sorrow, Holy Shit is it good, if the whole OST is like that, DAMN!

Might replace my Demon's Souls OST weekly replay

Isn't it strongly hinted that these are the nights of the round table (or am I wrong?)? Maybe if there is some kind of time travel, it's backwards. Not forward.

I would love it if they created games for a wider audience. The order being on PC/X1 would be great for them. Seeing this game run on PCs, especially with the modding community out there, would be amazing.

Don't know why so many people want Sony to acquire them and have less people deprived of more games with unique settings like these has always baffled me.

You do realize the SCE owns the IP right? Even if they were to make games on other platforms (which I doubt will happen with their current relationship with SCE), they wouldn't be able to make/bring The Order on other systems.

Also, based on their previous output, RAD could gain a lot from being part of SCE Worldwide studios: tech from other SCE studios, ICE Team, easiser fundings, etc.
