The Order 1886 gameplay vids

Please don't be what I consider an extremely boring game. I have high hopes that The Order will actually be entertaining.

Gears had a pretty good single player campaign, and split screen co-op too, imagine that!

Of course the multiplayer is what we stayed for and boy oh boy was it glorious.

Well, unsurprisingly Gears of War was a big (**not the only**) factor and influence in terms of standard combat design and gameplay. [Please don't take this to mean they copped everything off Gears lol]

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that given how excellent that series is.

Ah shinobi, his is the optimism that thaws our wintry hearts.

I hope The Order's sequel has a coop mode to rival the Horde mode in Gears 2.

That would be excellent.

I would have taken a horde mode for sure, would have been pretty cool with all those awesome weapons. The type of co-op play I'm getting sick of though is story co-op, most of them do a disservice to the story the developers are trying to tell. It just handcuffs them into making certain decisions.

Do we know how much of it he's played? Either way, good he enjoyed or is enjoying it.

he said he finished it and estimated 13 hours. I am taking this info from his youtube clip, plus dual shockers article posted about the clip, posted an hour ago. Might be bs.

I was going to wait for some impressions before I bought this because I was scared it might suck. But, I can't do it. Knowing that it'll be at my door when I get home on Friday the 20th is too good.

How easily does he give 9s? Ie what other games has he given that score to?

I've no idea.
It doesn't mean much for obvious reasons: very personal tastes, the possibility he is trolling the net, etc. Who knows.
here is the exact quote from the article, that also says he "praises the game unreservedly"

"If I had to give this game a score, I’d give it a full 9. It’s really very convincing, Graphics are spectacular, and the music tracks really immerse you in the story of the game."

but I'm just repeating what dual shockers put in their little bit about the clip.

Hopefully the story and gameplay live up to the same quality as the graphics in this game. We'll know soon enough, I'm still somewhat apprehensive about the quick time events. Hoping they won't be too prevalent.

I noticed that long time ago, and asked Pessino on twitter, but he didn't answer... you can switch shoulder by pressing the touchpad on the dualshock 4 too

Oh my god thank you. Every over the shoulder camera game needs the ability to switch shoulders. Hated this about Gears of War and Resident Evil 4/5.

I thought you could in at least one of the original 3 games in Gears, and in RE4 (albeit not while aiming with the latter).

Really good to hear though for The Order.

As a small clarification, you will need to turn this on in the Options menu, as it's off by default. Look for "Camera Bias" and switch it to on.

You definitely could not in the first Gears of War and it drove me crazy. It was less annoying in Resident Evil 4 because you couldn't strafe so it didn't change how you approached left corners much.

Thinking back, it may have been movement base. You could get the game to switch, but you had to unfortunately back out of aiming first to do so.

I don't have my copy of Gears on hand for me to check.

Awesome.

One other thing, if it's at all in RAD's position to advise on this, try and get UK pricing for the game more in line with the norm. I get that it's set in London, hence there could be more natural demand, but all retailers/etailers are charging £49 for the game. I feel like if it was closer to that £40-£45 mark that most pre-orders are, it'd be doing better sales wise. It may only just be a few bob difference, but every little helps, and the UK market I feel is pretty price conscious.

Its £43.97 on Gamestop UK at the moment but I agree that the general price for this is a bit steep compared to other high profile games. I'm pondering whether to pre-order now or wait to see if any other retailers drop their price closer to release.

after this game, all the models and textures on other games will look plastic and fake.

that is one thing that has always bothered me with games. armor and skin look like they're cut from the same cloth. see batman arkham asylum or other unreal engine 3 games.

now, wood actually looks like wood and better yet, wood from a furniture looks different from wood that's just laying there.

Didn't the article also mention that the user had not unlocked the trophy that you get once you beat the game? I wouldn't take that time to heart.

I already have my mind set that the game is around 8hrs long and I'm perfectly fine with that.

They better let us walk on that street

Holy shit! I still can't believe what RaD achieved on the PS4 and we're only at the beginning of the generation. Damn, this game is practically "playable CGI". No other game on any platform,
yes, even PC
will be topping this graphically for a while. Uncharted 4 is the game that will beat it, I think.

Where are all those PC gamers who claim that the PS4 is hilariously underpowered and already maxed out in multiplatforms? They seem to conveniently miss threads like this but show their faces in any downgrade and DF threads

Is there any way to pay-off Amazon pre-orders, or do I have to wait for them to automatically charge me once its shipped.

You could get a gift card with the right amount, that usually works.

That's how I paid off my ps4 back in the day, I did the trade in programme and got gift cards in return and used them on the PS4.

Kind of off-topic but isn't there a game set in London called Victory coming out this year? :]]

And now back to London 1886. Goddamn, it is beautiful :O

I just feel it's going to be like a game from last year, with just a little upgrade here and there, while still being repetitive.

Remains to be seen how the Quebec team will handle the lead position, excited but cautious because it's a huge undertaking and they're alot smaller than Ubi-Montreal. Reserving judgement until it's seen in action.

There is always this years Assassins Creed game, you can trust Ubisoft.
You can't trust Ubisoft.
Or Bloodborne. :P Either way London is my favorite setting in games, criminally underused.

If history repeats itself, we should expect Victory to be what AC4 was to AC3.

Honestly, I can't tell. What if Ubisoft learnt their lessons from last year's performance and actually put a lot of thought into the game to make it the best Assassin's Creed game they've created? Or they would continue being ignorant and messing up the game with repetitive gameplay and boring story? I don't know, I can't predict the future but for now, I will lean toward the latter. Ubisoft keep disappointing me time after time.

But hey, this is not the place to talk about AC. Let's not derail this thread! :D

Yeah, I'm going with the latter myself

Uh, just as the video says, Jason Graves is the composer. Not Austin Wintory. It seems Wintory was involved in some capacity, but this is really Graves' work. This is similar to the soundtrack to Black, where Michael Giacchino and Chris Tilton co-composed the main theme, but Tilton scored the remainder of the soundtrack.

Also, I posted this in another thread, but on the PlayStation BlogCast, they did an interview with someone from RAD. They said that there was some serious talent doing the characters in the game that will stun us when we find out who they are (paraphrasing here). They said something along the lines of everybody will rush to IMDB. Right now there are only two people listed on IMDB for the game, neither seem like characters we've been introduced to (and are not major actors). Now I'm really intrigued to find out what level of talent he is referring to.

Was referring to the knight's theme, which he co wrote. But yeah, Graves' is the main composer.

Yeah can't wait to find out.
