Raise the flame shield: Your "controversial" gaming opinion.

Any games like Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, Persona, Pheonix Wright, etc are stupid, don't know how the hell anybody gets excited about stupid looking crap like that.

Call of Duty games are amongst the best games ever made, the later ones MW3 and beyond, reason being they are fun all year long to pick up and play multiplayer.

Dark/Demon Souls games are too ridiculously hard to be considered even good games. I don't mind a challenge but the crap they do in these games like set you like 15 min back from where you died, or give you less health, etc is beyond frustrating.

Ninja Gaiden games are horrible, like the Dark/Demon Souls games they are too frustrating to be any fun minus the old arcade game from the 90's.

Any game that's cell shaded/cartoony looking I probably won't play it because it looks stupid. Only exception I can think of would be Borderlands, I had some good fun with that but it wasn't as stupid looking as say Wind Waker or Jet Set Radio.

This post is basically "'Merica! Fuck Yeah!"

You sound like you're 14.

Also the Souls games aren't that difficult, it's everything else that's too easy.

Nope, 36, started gaming on the Atari 2600 and will be a gamer for life. I'm a bit confused at the outlash, I read through the first 20 pages and the stuff I posted is no different than what others posted without backlash.

We members are scared of juniors opinions. :)

don't take it too seriously man, opinions are opinions so it's fine, having a little discussion is fun anyways.

I didn't mean to sound derisive (although I can totally understand why you would take it that way), but that post at the top of the page really does sound like it came from a 14 year old.

Also I stand by my Souls comment.

No worries, it's all good, agree to disagree

Well you sir are missing out on some damn fine games.

I'm tired of people I know who speak badly of Five Nights at Freddy's because the creator "releases a new game every few months" or because "the game is only about the jump scares". They've never played the games and automatically assume they know everything from word of mouth.

The sequels are solid, Scott's story telling skills are amazing, the gameplay is unique and interesting, and there's more than just jump scares!

On that note, what has Pewdiepie ever done to gather so much hate? I can see not liking his type of humor, but some people just have this fueled hatred against him for some reason that I cannot figure out. Why do so many people like Markipler and absolutely despise Pewdiepie? I don't really notice much difference between them that would cause such a big divide between communities. Are we seriously doing fanboys for youtube celebrities now??

Anyways, those are the things that were recently on my mind.

Brace yourself GAF:

The Silent Hill HD Collection is perfectly fine on PS3 after the patch. It suffers from no big bugs and the new voiceover for 3 doesn't ruin the experience like some people say. It's a good way to play the franchise for people who have never experienced it.

But yes the boat scene looks bad

Hearthstone streams are fun to watch but it's a horrible competitive game, easily the worst of the mainstream games currently.

LMAO. It's like, the anti-me. Cute.

I hate this thread so much.

You hate...opinions? Well, that's strange.

.

Yeah, fuck that. Souls games revel in their difficulty and how often they can make gamers die. Not. Fucking. Interested.

There's a not-so-subtle difference between "I don't like game X/game X is not for me/I think game X gets too much/too little praise" and "game X is stupid crap that cannot be even considered good how can people like it is beyond me." Your original post sounded unnecessarily confrontational, so people confronted you. Nothing confusing about it.

They're hard relative to other games, but not that difficult themselves, all you need to do is keep your eyes peeled, your shield raised and take things slowly. After you've gotten comfortable, you can ditch the shield and and play more recklessly.

The disproportionate perception that Souls games are hard comes down mostly to its marketing ("You will die over and over" "Prepare To Die Edition", promotional supercut of a person intentionally getting killed by enemies and bosses). These games become trivially easy when you summon even a single white phantom, because enemies can't handle more than 1 target.

I wouldn't say they are easy games but they absolutely punish new players who do go in recklessly. The whole initial period of playing should be learning your limitations, but because a lot of the early level enemies are easy to defeat, it causes people to think they should take the same approach, rather than standing back and taking a more careful approach. Not a game when someone is just coming off a COD binge.

I hope punishing people for not thinking about their actions isn't too much to ask.

Flameshield activated:

The Wii U's 2014 was graded on a curve and the only reason it's as highly lauded as it was is because 2013 was utter shit and anything looks like the best thing ever in comparison. Both the PS4 and Xbone had a more rounded, better, and bigger selection of games worth playing in 2014 and it's easily defensible just by looking at the release lists for last year.

Someone saying FFVIII OST is crap.

Another one saying everything that isn't Call of Duty is crap.

Well, now I've seen everything.

This may be a controversial opinion on my part, but this particular opinion probably isn't controversial for the mainstream audience.
Simple games like Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, etc are the cream of the crop, while anything different or requiring thought is 'stupid.'

This is the exact audience major publishers are targeting.

I found Vanquish to be an incredibly boring slog compared to other Platinum games and even other TPS. There's ridiculously low enemy variation and even the boss battles are just a collection of the same bosses over and over again. I hated how the weapon upgrades encouraged you to play with the same weapon the entire game and the basic weapons were the only ones worth using. I also hated how if you missed the melee attack, you basically die because you can't get away.

Everyone talking about the difficulty of the game really put me off playing Dark Souls for a long time, I'd imagine a lot of people are in the same situation. I'm not really into difficult games, but when I played Dark Souls I enjoyed it so much. The game is challenging, but no where near as much as some people make it out to be.

Sad but true.

• Uncharted is better than The Last of Us. Uncharted makes everything in its premise right, with tight controls and the feeling of being in an action movie. TLoU had unpleasant stealth sections and enemies that instakill in every difficulty setting since the beginning.

• Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1/PSP) is better than every main series Final Fantasy ever released.

• Resonance might be the best point & click adventure I have ever played, besting even classics like Monkey Island and Full Throttle. It has less focus on character building and values logic in puzzles, rewarding critical thinking.

Well, it's the audience mainstream publishers have created with the death of just about any other types of AAA games. Remember the days when Myst was really popular, and it was a game that required an insane amount of thought?

Very mild controversary here. Seems just like plain opinions.

I got your back on this one. I thought the game was decent but just held down by a mess of garbage most of which you mentioned.

I think most of the "controversial opinions" in here are just baiting for attention because they're scared of getting banned posting it elsewhere.

Now THIS is controversial, probably even in the Destiny OT. Well done.

Not only is it controversial, I actually believe it.

Then again, this hasn't been a particularly great generation yet, so maybe this isn't that controversial. I'm hopeful that Bloodborne will change my mind, and I haven't played Bayonetta 2 yet also.

Grasshopper Manufacturer are not good game developers at all. They're the epitome of "all flash, no substance" kind of games. They only go crazy with their characters because their games are very lacking in terms and depth and functionality (seriously, those mini-games in Lollipop Chainsaw and No More Heroes were dreadful!).

I'd rather watch a let's play of killer 7 than play it myself, that's how bad their games are ! Can you compare them Platinum games or even Capcom's Itsuno ? Hell I'd rather Ninja Theory's DmC rather than something like Killer is Dead or Lollipop Chainsaw !

Yes I am serious, come at me !
