What's at least equally pathetic is you popping up in every Order thread and apparently checking everyone's post history as soon as something not 100% positive gets posted. Also bringing up PC GAF day in, day out trying to construct some kind of conspiracy.

Truth is in the pudding. I've had my fair share of spats with PC gaf including yourself to know when someone is just looking to shit on a game for the sake of it with no interest in it to begin with. PC gaf has become notorious for this as of late, centering themselves well above the pack. Looking at post history' only adds to this notion.

Well, no, I'm not ignorant and pig-headed enough to actually believe that a game is more suited to watching on Youtube rather than playing just because it has some cinematic flair. Max Payne 2 is my favourite ever shooter, and that was a game that obviously placed as much emphasis on its story, writing and graphical fidelity as it did on its gameplay. Would I have been happy just merely watching someone else play it on a website as opposed to playing it myself? Well, I won't dignify that with an answer.

If you think the reason I'm not interested in playing the game is due to the cinematic flair, you have misinterpreted what I said.

Are you people seriously all angry because I don't think this game is worth playing for me?

Get over yourselves.

The Order: 1886 |OT| YouTube's Magnum Opus

amidoingitrite?

Did somebody say Magnum?

I disagree. I love these effects on movies and I'm loving them in this game.

People should stop posting like if everybody hates these effects. I think a lot of people on gaf don't watch or hate movies.

Agreed. I love grain filter; I so dearly missed in Mass Effect 2 and onward. Some people talk about these effects as they're some arbitrary objective judges of what is or is not good.

Speak for YOUR fucking self.

Well it IS for me. about 80% of it at least. I'm all for a good story, all for a steampunk-like setting, love period pieces, enjoy graphical showpieces.

Same reason I watched Ryse on youtube and didn't waste my money on the game.

Huh, never heard of people doing that wrt to games but if it suits you. Where do you find the time? I mean, I assume the consumption you're describing is in addition to other forms of media.

Not sure if it's been posted but this is available from rakuten for £36.85 when used with code FEBGIFT10. Vendor is simplygames so should be fine for launch day if not the day before.

Where do you find the time to play the game? Usually on Youtube you get a more condensed version. I did of Ryse at least.

Love the color scheme. Very natural looking and creates great atmosphere. So annoyed that ever game has colors that pop now. Witcher looked much better before they colorzoned it.

Gray and brown seems to be defining heritage of the previous generation. This game is not for me.

The game is going for a setting and a tone. Why does every game need to look like someone vomited skittles to not get the same old "boo brown and gray" bullshit.

Or you know, you could just get out of a thread for a game you don't want to play.

Anyone in the US thinking they might be able to obtain this from a local store this week? If so, PM me. I can make it worth your time. :D

Hey whatever man. You can't tell me that there's no better way to experience the cinematic feels than sitting passively in fron of the TV.

Truly the game looks amazing, in terms of visuals. The lighting and the materials quality looks stellar. Nto getting what people are complaining about in terms of graphics. Well, outside of the stupid black bars. Story, too ealry to tell, but looks like it might be decent.

In terms of gameplay... well it looks like your typical AAA corridor, on rails BS. Hence, why Youtube it shall be.

So you watch your movies on youtube, because you need to sit passively in front of the TV? O.o

For being a PC gamer, I'd have expected you to have higher standards for an optimal viewing experience :)

The fucking audacity of sandbags being placed around London!

Ha ha ha.
Historical accuracy confirmed!!

Now the stupid trolls are going to go into overdrive thinking of another ludicrous complaint to continue waging their rather bizarre war.

Ah. Just seen one about 'playing it on YouTube'.

This game looks visually fantastic. Not sure about the gameplay because I'm trying to avoid watching too many videos due to story spoiler potential.
Think I might get it and give it a go. If I really don't like it much I can always trade it for Bloodborne or something.

That's an assumption.

And, in case it raises a query, right now I'm killing time waiting for my dinner to cook!

Edit: Any recommendations for this setting? I mean aside from YouTube.

Reminds me of everyone crying about killzone 2 colors and we ended up with that ugly skittle vomit in Killzone 3

Are you really surprised that on a gaming enthusiast forum people are giving you a hard time for just watching a game on Youtube instead of playing it? You're missing a massive dimension of the experience that way and that applies to all types of games, including stuff like David Cage and Telltale make.

Well, if there was a better option I'd surely take it. Short of playing the game.

Maybe they'll spin off a TV show or something. Would definitely watch it.

They are not exactly placed like that in the game...

Pre-order cancelled.

Gray and brown seems to be defining heritage of the previous generation. This game is not for me.

I kinda want to see how some staples of early last gen would play on modern hardware with modern design sensibilities. Like another big blockbuster WW2 game backed by a powerful engine, mascot adventure games, band games, etc

Telltale games feature in depth gameplay mechanics centered around dialogue choices and the various consequences thereof.

I somehow doubt this is going to be a big feature of this game. But I could be wrong!

Lol. He's probably only just started using YouTube recently. They've only just started doing 60fps recently after all.

And well, you know, everything else is a fucking slideshow.

Oh can we add 'fucking slideshow' to the list of things that people who haven't played The Order have decided that are fundamentally wrong with The Order.

I don't think people are angry, they're just calling you out on your bullshit is all. You kind of have a history of shitposting in regards to the PS4 and its audience, with this recent example being particularly baffling.

Watching someone play a game is not the same as playing a game, regardless of its genre or quality or whatever. To say otherwise is folly.

I love this gif not just for the hit reactions and flair it has, but for the fact that it shows an actual skill based usage of blacksight. Also, best muzzle flash I've seen in a game.
Well to be fair, it doesn't produce shadows :P

And yes, for some reason I notice these things. I cannot turn off that part of my brain which does.

One of the exciting things about this game for me is that the shooting looks stylish, punchy, and satisfying with creative weapons thrown into the mix. You won't get that tactile feedback and feel from a Youtube video and the style and depth will be entirely dependent on what the video maker does, not your own agency.

You can't experience the gunplay by watching the game

Again, qualifying this by the fact that I've only seen the first hour and some other bits here and there, the gunplay looks like generic third person shooter #15. Complete with shooting gallery style combat scenarios.

But I'm afraid any type of criticism I levy at this game will only get further calls of me "trolling". So whatever.

But it's the order 1886 man. There is nothing to play, right? Just put a paperweight on triangle and get the optimal bluray experience. It's around 10 hours, so the price is equivalent to a full season of a TV show. Or you can get the collectors addition. Comes with a free statue so you don't need the paperweight. Preorder now!

Ha, I didn't notice. I always like muzzle flash that has some depth and texturing to it and this looks almost exactly like what prop revolvers look like when fired. A spark and lots of smoke.

Hey guys I am fairly new here and didn't know where to post this or even if this is okay to post but tomorrow I'm doing an interview with Andrea Pessino, Co-Founder en Chief Technical Officer of ready at dawn.
coincidentally this is also my first interview and I myself know the game for the most part but I thought I could ask GAF if they have some questions.
This interview may not even see the light of day but if anyone wants to know something let me know.
Again sincerest apologies if this isn't appropriate considering this really isn't the right thread.

Sorry.

Tricksy, but in addition to trangle, I occasionally would have to hold down square. Nice try.

Exactly. Purists should want the clean true HD blu-ray version

Thread worthy? I wonder how this will effect sales of The Order and Bloodborne?
