Not defensive, just think the hypocrisy of console warriors is funny. They want to rag on people for "trying to take a game down", when in reality a lot of us "concern trolls" have legitimate concerns, the defense force is just doing anything they can to ignore the flaws. I've stated time and time again I'm excited for the game, I'm buying it, but I'm still not positive this is going to be a great game, I expect a good solid game, but I also wouldn't be shocked if we got an utterly average/mediocre game with excellent production values.
I also happen to love driveclub, but it's far from perfect, and the hyperbole from the fans about that particular game is ridiculous. I've seen many come into that thread and make legimtiate criticisms and they get absolutely chased away as trolls.
Great post
As you've already been shown the spot, here are the networks it's shown frequently/semi-frequently on:
- Comedy Central (as early as day after Super Bowl)
- AMC
- Esquire
- TBS
- Scyfy
- Spike
- FX
I'd assume that Cartoon Network, TNT, and MTV are also playing it. Not sure about the local/major networks like Fox, CBS, and NBC since the pre-Super Bowl show.
One of the more substantial marketing campaigns by Sony. Seems to be aired more than Infamous Second Son ads at least.
I don't thing the ad is terrible at all, even if I think they could have played up the Arthurian legend stuff than the generic rebel talk.
Fuck me... Me and my fiance drank for vday...
Just paid in full for the Order. Guess I'm day one-ing that shit!
I think it'll sell pretty well. Sony's marketing it hard and there aren't any other games like in on PS4.I think The Order 1886 will be the lowest selling game that is also the most discussed.
I don't know and I haven't seen anyone doing that eitherAnyone know if you can stick enemies with the spike on the frag?
Just saw on a leadked video that you can throw grenades and then blacksight to shoot them mid-air.
It's pretty kewl.

People like different things. If everyone accepted this, there'd really be no issues ever. But that's not fun. People have strong association with brands. In this case, you can use games, although you could extend that to manufacturers such as Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. They're not always linked. It's similar to personal and emotional investment in other things, such as sports or movies. A lot of folks tend to drive some sense of self-worth from this association. It's part of marketing. Think of it like brand religion. A lot of companies take that kind of stance, and a lot of marketing tries to cultivate it. It's not an attack on a game, it's an attack on me, my tastes, my thoughts, and my opinions.Hopefully we can avert the cataclysm that the review thread's gonna be. But knowing the regular shit posters, it's gonna go up in flames either way.

You've done right my friend. Day 1 stache gang for life
The Orders "bullet time"
Because we get it, you have legitimate criticisms. We simply don't consider them flaws. It doesn't break either game for us. Why even bother pointing it out if the core experience is what matters? Yeah DRIVECLUB has harsh penalties, aggressive AI, net code issues, who gives a rats ass? Score whores. That's who.
The only reason people get in a fuss bringing up the negatives about DRIVECLUB is to justify and validate the shit reviews it got. And that comes across as aggressive and borderline fanboyish.
It really isn't.
Does this now mean that if I like my existing screenshots, I can keep them?
It isn't.
...
It's not hard, but it's gonna kick your ass, and you're gonna like it.
It demands precision to be successful. You can get by just fine crashing and cutting corners, etc. But once the scoreboards and Face Offs start speaking to you, you're gonna feel the pressure to do better. That's where the rage comes in.
Good therapy, game. Yeah.
That's one snazzy tie.
I don't think folks are trying to belittle those that have legitimate concerns for The Order. I believe folks are critical of some of the blatant misinformation out there, about The Order. I read folks saying it graphically downgraded, and it has only a hour and a half worth of gameplay...that's pretty absurd. Having concerns about an unknown element is one thing, but to completely make something up will and should be challenged. Why? Because that's what Obama would do.
So is anyone gonna explain this Obama thing for the new people in the thread?
which lead to these responses:Driveclub, evil within and dragons dogma are basically the definition of mediocre. If The Order is as average or below average as the titles you mention it doesn't deserve higher scores.
A lot of games are mediocre. Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, FFVI, DMC4, MGS4, Jay Z, McDonalds, Obama etc.
Obama's metacritic is in the 30% so I don't know how you could say he's mediocre.
Half of America voted for Bush, so they're crazy. That leaves us with 50%. So if you're 30% overall out of only a viable 50%, you're just over half, which puts you in the realm of mediocre.
Dat Math.
Thanks Obama.
Thanks Obama
Obama's name is in the freaking title, what more do you needWhat the hell is blacksight?
Stache growing commenced. Full stache will be complete in... 2 hours?

I'm with you man I know where you coming from.I've been belittled and called a concern troll on more than one occasion upon sharing my concern for the game. I get that people want to cover their ears and pretend it's perfect, but for the people who care about breaking games down beyond a simple yes or no, we have a right to do that. I also hear the same excuses for why a game reviews poorly- how the journalist is biased, they're terrible writers, they're hypocritical, the media hates this game, xbots want it to die, etc. But I simply don't believe that. I believe those people exist, but FAR too many people are lumped in with that group unfairly.

I love DriveClub and I'm curious to hear your criticisms. Just an FYI, your criticisms may have no bearing on me however. I know a lot of people are frustrated with AI and/or penalties or collisions online but none of that stuff bothers me because I win 95% of the time and enjoy the experience. Hyperbole? Nah, just some stuff you say are legitimate criticisms may only be criticisms to you and farts in the wind to me.
I'm with you man I know where you coming from.
Someone's streaming the game on twitch PS4. It's in Russian though for anyone interested.
Surprised no one's shut it down. Well after this post maybe haha.

Basically warring opinions, right? You feel strongly about your opinions, and others feel strongly about theirs. I can understand your frustration, but this happens in discussion threads. What I do is just present my point of view to the best of my ability, then let the chips fall where they may. At the end of the day, we either like it or not, then we're on to the next game. 2015 has so many great ones coming out, I'm having a blast talking about them.![]()
I agree but I have also aired my personal criticisms in the DriveClub OT and have never been chased out of the thread. But regardless, back on topic. And that's FINE... I'll say this again it's... a... DISCUSSION board. The idea that critics wanted to hate Driveclub for whatever reason is absolutely ABSURD. When the game came out with a lack of online it was somewhat weak in terms of content. The "campaign" if you will was fine, but I had pretty much wrapped the entire thing up in a night or two. I loved the driving model, however as pointed out by people over and over, the penalty system didn't make sense a lot of the time, and often you could get by crashing your way through races. I thought DC for me when all was said and done was a solid 8.5 with potential to be even better. That being said I would prefer a next gen motorstorm.
Not being a dick, genuinely wondering are you being serious? Your first post was so abrupt I thought you were being sarcastic lol.

It will be down in 5 minutes (or less). It's the same Germany dude from yesterday. Twitch is quick to shut down all pre launch game vids.
Link? lol

Did you play the game already? (honest question)This.
The Order, even based off the positive impressions, clearly has flaws that while differs from person to person, can be rooted back to the game's overall design sensibilities as a linear shooter that's focused on bringing you on a character journey with a very defined pacing. Within that framework, there's plenty of flaws that can be called out.
But that had nothing to do with the length of the game.
No it's not warring opinions, it's the exact opposite. people are allowed opinions, that is absolutely fine by me. The point I'm making, is that people in review threads will pull every excuse in the book why critics are wrong and bad at their jobs, and why anybody who criticizes the game is trying to tear it down or be a concern troll. It's nonsense and it's paranoia stemming from ridiculous console wars. Again I accept those people exist, but more often than not people pull this card on anybody who is negative about the game they love.
Did you play the game already? (honest question)
If not, I just can't understand how someone could point to things as flaws without even having played the game. If I didn't play a game the best I'll say is that it doesn't look like something I would like.
