Her IMDB shows she guested on a bunch of Disney shows. I've only seen her in other CW shows though.

There's something about Caitlin/Danielle Panabaker in either the last episode or the one before where she did some expression that gave me some unattractive "old lady" vibes.

Linda's actress was a regular on Star-Crossed last year, maybe it's my memory being foggy but she looks... Different. Maybe because she's not being made up to look younger or something, I don't know.

I think it's more a matter of people having an unnatural bias against female characters.
.

That's bullshit. People have bias against any character that doesn't get involved in the main storylines. It doesn't matter if it's male or not. For first half of S1 of Arrow people hated Tommy too.

I have to admit I think it's fucking hilarious that Clancy Brown can never escape Grodd.
Now if only they got Grodd's VA from JLU.

I want Grodd to hit up Starling City just to see Oliver's reaction to a talking telepathic gorilla.

"fucking Barry what is this shit".

You think Diggle's response to Barry's super speed was funny? Wait until he sees Grodd.

"Look- you guys deal with this. I'm gonna go hang out with the Suicide Squad."

In what world is a part Chinese, part Cherokee babe with bodacious booty generic?
Found you, Ms. New Booty.

Valid point, I did jump to conclusions. Maybe I just feel like I'm seeing that prejudice more with female characters lately. I just don't get the hatred for Iris. I don't.

Because her sole purpose on the show was to be Barry's crush. Then she became a Flash groupie and made Barry look like an idiot both in and out of costume.

She's only now started showing signs of having an actual purpose on the show.

Oh, I'm not saying she's a character with an arc worthy of praise or anything. I don't think she's much either (aside from incredibly attractive), but the level of vitriol is what's confusing.

I think it's because first we had Laurel, then Iris shows up and we have Laurel 2.0.

I think I've had this argument with someone before, but I don't think Iris is that bad. I also don't think Laurel was that bad either. Not until S2 of Arrow, was she really all that bad. I personally, do not think Iris has reached even remotely close to that point yet. At the same time, I don't really care about Iris. Eddie, Joe, Cisco, Caitlyn, and Wells are all far more interesting characters than Iris.

It's almost impossible for any of the normal comic love interests to be interesting. The trope means they have to be in the dark from the get go which means they're reduced to kidnap victim, dummy, suffering more concussions than a heavyweight boxer or completely isolated from the main story.

I'd would have been interesting if say Arrow had opened with the Oliver coming back to a world where the the Canary was already a super hero/vigilante and played off off that, but the Flash LI has always been a civilian.

Yeah big kudos to the Flash team for going for Grodd. I honestly didn't think they could do it when the show was announced, I couldn't picture it, but the glimpses we've seen have me excited.

I'm sure the success and quality of the new Planet of the Apes films have been a big influence . It can be done believably in those films, it can be done in a comic book show.

We've definitely had this argument before in the thread. At least both Laurel and Iris have improved and seem to have actual purpose in their shows now.

Like I've mentioned before, Iris usually isn't a very negative person so she doesn't suck the life out of scenes. She doesn't serve much of a purpose, but she doesn't really detract from things outside of this episode.

I feel like Laurel always had a purpose. To, along with her dad, show how corrupt Starling is from the perspective of the legal system. She just happened to be entangled in a love triangle that was otherwise rather unsavory (for me, anyways) and got the bulk of the focus. The big issue came in S2 where her attack on the Arrow was rather, well, nonsensical and she really became abhorrently self-righteous. More so than S1.

Precisely. She's basically nothing. So until she becomes something, she doesn't really detract, but she doesn't provide either.

I think the show is playing off of this as well, her single purpose (flash fangirl) was why she got hired at her job anyway, and she's trying to break that mold. Hopefully something happens soon.

Here's my feeling: I like Lois Lane. Especially in Superman The Animated Series, because in there she's a badass. She goes hard on every case and she doesn't back down even when the scenario is incredibly overwhelming. I never got irritated with her.

Basically, they're going to have to make Iris that character. We got shades of this in the episodes with Girder and Prism, and most recently with her taking the Flash's picture. We need more though. Bigger feats. Right now she's too much of a nothing. Gotta make her a something, and I can't see them going any other way.

Yeah she needs to do something to stand out. I never saw Superman The Animated Series but I did see Smallville and Lois was one of the few good strong characters on that show. I could see Iris being a similar type of character, someone who doesn't need saving all the time, is strong and can get a story that isn't always about the hero

God yes, this would be glorious. hoping for a big crossover this year involving Grodd. Grodd is a actually a big enough villain to force a team up.

I think Dr Wells is actually Bart Allen, a descendant of Barry's from the future. Detective Thawne is an antecedent of the reverse Flash - some future Thawne. At some point Wells/Allen gets his hands on Thawne's tech to escape back into the past and help Barry, presumably because the world of the future ends and he wants to stop that from happening. The "I want to make a better hero" routine Wells seems to be following, Thawne's M.O. from the comics, is a red herring here, but also basically true.

It's endlessly humorous to me that Clancy Brown is playing Eiling. An actor known primarily for playing douchebag villains in shows again continues his streak.

Glorious.

I think Kevin Michael Richardson is the most likely choice for Grodd's voice at the moment. He's the latest voice actor for Grodd and is doing promo work for the show. They seem to be using a stuntman for motion capture rather than having an actor provide both voice and motion.

Plus, I imagine if God were real, he would be God's voice.

It's crazy how much more entertaining this small bit of The Flash has been compared to what I've watched of Arrow. I'm just barely into season 2 and I have little to no desire to watch that show ever again.

Wuuut you gotta watch Season 2 of Arrow.

IMO, S2 of Arrow is much better than what was currently showed in Flash S1.

Doesn't Wells' secret private supercomputer call him Wells? That seems unessessary if he's actually Barry.

You raise a good point, but again, this may just be an original character. Or he may have programmed Gideon with an alias, so that if he was discovered (inevitable), then not everything will be revealed.

It's a lot of work to go to.

Pretty much.

When The Flash learns to run so fast he can phase, he's getting through that wall if he wants to. The computer calling Wells... well, Wells is the only line of defense after Barry scrambles the drive by phasing his hand into the computer.

If Wells is from the far future and his real identity is discovered, any ancestors found and hurt would put him at risk.

Pretty much.

Can't see Barry phasing this season or Wells not being found out by season's end.

More than likely the computer calling him Wells was just so as not to confuse the audience or give anything away, assuming it's an assumed identity.

Do we have any guesses on who or what Barrys new girlfriend is?

Surely she must be some kind of superhero or villian or sumetin

She's just a character from the comics. In the comics Linda Park was married to the second Flash, Wally West - Barry's nephew. Different take on her is all.
