I don't know for tew and DD but drive club is not mediocre.
Drive club is awesome, gorgeous, fun, and deserves better than "definition of mediocre".

But I understand, "it's not open world so it's shit" is the new whim.
Exactly.
I can't judge DD and The Order though.
Opinions can differ but only if it's based on actually playing the game for a reasonable amount of time.

Just to clarify there are 18 chapters in the game. And I believe that Chapter 5, the one that's missing is the one that takes place on the airship which is the PSX demo and that lasts more than 36 minutes. Haven't looked at the walkthrough but I seem to remember the PSX demo being chapter 5.

1-16 + prologue/epilogue, correct?

Why won't someone from RAD just come out and say roughly how long the game is?

Probably because it is short.
Please be at least 10 hours long. Pleasssssssssssssse.

Thanks so the game is a bit longer then :) - good to know.

Yup, that's what I've heard from a bunch of people. The funny thing is these short chapter times for some of them could have been condensed into other chapters. I don't know why RAD decided to split it up into so many chapters. Looking at those times it would seem like the game should be split at max to 10 chapters altogether. There could be a very valid reason for it, but I'm not looking at any videos to figure it out myself.

What the hell happened? When I was in this thread last night people were giving really positive impressions of the game, telling us it will take around 12 hours to complete with a great story and great gameplay. People were comparing it quality wise as close to the original gear a of war, and saying that it is their favourite new ip of this generation.

I enter the thread this morning and I see a bunch of new avatars I have not seen in this thread before, accusing the game of being 3 or 4 hours, with 'shocking gameplay' and claiming that a collection of DVD movies would make a better game.

What the actual fuck happened.

There's no way to really know right now, unless someone else has other evidence. Who knows how long that Chapter 5 was or how long Chapters 14-18 are.

Are there any unlockables like weapons/costumes/skins etc? Don't mind a relatively short game but it's always nice to have something extra for subsequent campaign playthroughs.

Might be better suited for the spoiler thread but I have no desire to head in there and have the story be ruined.

If I had to wager a guess, I'd say they split the chapters the way they did in order to tell the story how they wanted. Shit, do people complain when chapters in books are only like a page? Aren't there chapters in LotR that are only a page?

If its any consolation, the shortest time reported by the 4 gaffers I have seen who have the game is over 10 and up to 13.5.

Skimming through YouTube uploads the game seems to be definitely less than 8 hours, so not sure about the guy in here who said he was 12.5 in and still not finished.

Nice, first I was hyped after seeing the first good trailer, then even more after seeing some screenshots. Now I'm crushed after reading this thread and thinking that I wasted 60€ for a 2,5h long game. My emotions !

Let's not forget for a moment that those who have been giving their impressions are not rushing through the game.

There's no need to call in doubt slower paced players.

Do people actually enjoy playing games any more or do they just enjoy running forward and killing shit? This is a serious question. I ask because I predicted years ago that online play would drastically change what people expect from a game and gaming would be reduced to a shallow activity.

People might down a pint in one, but I tend to drink them slowly to savour the taste.

There was also a guy who finished it and said it took him 12-13 hours.
We have that time twice.

Well, regardless of the crazy kerfuffle surrounding the game, I'm still super excited to play it. Those screenshots are jaw dropping.

Probably looking for the collectibles and easter eggs on top of playing on Hard.

I can bust through REmake in easily under 5 hours, but also spend nearly if not over triple that as well depending on how I play. Same goes for things like Uncharted, The Evil Within, and TLOU.

True it all seems so skewed even if you pop in to the other thread, although the YouTube vids are the best indicator as you can actually see the times.

Although I guess the 12 hour gaffers could just be slower players and take their time more than others.

Oh absolutely. I wanna experience the story and witness the world that RAD has crafted. I just wanna know if I should pump out the cash for the $80 collector's edition or not. The small statue looks sweet.

Ya, I don't doubt people will be able to blast through the Order in 6-8 hrs. I bet the vast majority will get 10 plus hours out of it.

Those are people who like to play games and not just beat them.

A regular run is 10-13 hours? On hard difficulty?

A speed run is 4-6 hours? On normal difficulty?

Lol I can't believe how hard it is to get a gauge on this.

I tend to take a long time playing games, particularly those who great attention to detail, visuals and so on. I don't understand how people just rush through these or finish it in one sitting. I will take twice as long as the normal play through time.

The YouTube video everyone is talking about is missing 6 chapters, so how are people using that to determine the game length?

This is going to be the last game I purchase that doesn't have any extra content after completion. I'm getting really sick of putting 60 down for one and done type games.

Most likely that is the reason. I personally don't have an issue with it, either way the game is the same length if it's split into 2 chapters or 20.

Yeah playing on hard will add a fair amount of time, as I always bump up the difficulty when I play shooters to the hardest possible and yeah it does add a decent amount of time. Good shout.

I'd probably say 9-10 on Hard on a regular run for someone making good time (aka not dying much). Getting into the 12-13 is likely not accounting for pausing, afk, or some serious loitering (easter egg searching namely) and gawking time.

Two of them said it I believe and they both played on hard. To be fair Osiris said that we should shave off 2 hours from his time because he took a good amount of time to stop and smell the roses.

I'm gonna play on hard from the get go and I'd expect to at least get 9 hours out of it. I'm not really worried about length though personally because if the game is fun and a good experience, that's all that matters to me.

Is the medium difficulty good for this game or is it like a Naughty Dog(easy) type of medium?

From what we've heard (and I've seen if the actual difficulty), Normal is really easy stuff. So Naughty Dog normal where it's basically easy mode and Hard is the intended mode for play.

RAD themselves have recommended Hard iirc.

well no, how many times did the youtube guy die, and repeat the same sequence, how many times did they take a wrong turn or look around or search for extra items.

Most walkthroughs seem ridiculously fast to me at least, vs discovering it all for the first time.

for example mkfireandice dying light walkthroughs are about 7 hours. But that game is 13+ hours just doing campaign missions.

Are those 6 missing chapter miraculously going to triple the game's length?

Some of these chapters are mere minutes long.

Well, we know that chapter 5 is the blimp level and the demo lasted around 25 minutes. I'll probably take about 15 hours to finish this going by what Gaffers have said. It took me 23 hours to finish TLOU the first time because I was searching and investigating, but then I finished it in 10 hours. For me, it's what you can bring to a game, not necessarily what the game has to bring to you. If people only want to shoot legs and heads off then I'd say it will be a short experience.
