Well the fact is
Red Hood is also in the game. So there's gotta be something different. Or at least hopefully.

We know that
Red Hood is playable in challenge maps, but we don't know if he actually appears in the campaign.

Seriously, so far it seems the Arkham Knight
is a carbon copy of Red Hood/Jason Todd. If it's the case, why bother creating a new character?

Probably to have an underwhelming twist that everyone will see coming.

Also I wonder if people would actually be disappointed if they brought back the Joker as like an effect from Scarecrows fear gas or something.

I would actually like if Arkham Knight just ends up being a random inmate of Arkham from the firt game who hates Batman for all the shit he caused in the asylum and city..... there is no way Arkham knight is going to be a previous Robin, he's gotta be a character more tied to the Arkham series

It looks great even for non-open World. I have a feeling it's not going to look quite so amazing on XBO/PS4, though.

Good thing I've got a high end rig, hue hue.

Do we know the system requirements? I'm pretty confident I'll be good for everything except the GPU.

You know what Arkham Knight needs? Man-Bat.

Not joking, if you get impressed by this, you are really not in gaming tech and you don't know what UE4 can do. I don't want to start this discussion here TBH.

I don't agree. I am impressed by it, especially for an open world game. Could it have looked better on UE4, probably, but I'm sure switching to UE4 would have presented its own problems. I think people claiming it's the best looking game this gen are insane, but yanno...Gaf.

Didn't Rocksteady already state Arkham Knight is a completely original character and that they had to work closely with the folks at DC to get it done?

Looks great, but my hype is in check until I see what new villains are in the game, I don't count Arkham Knight. Give me Professor Pyg, Man-Bat, Talons and the like, I don't give a hoot what Harley Quinn is up to.
I'd love to see some of the more zanier villains appear in this, would just make it even more awesome. They weren't shy in showing other not so well known characters in the past games so I have hope.

We don't know the specs yet but I would not play this game on a 2gb GPU. IMO 3gb will be the bare minimum to enjoy this game with good textures and I expect it to ask for almost 4gb for maximum textures.

I don't think we have legitimate requirements yet, although there are unsourced reqs on the internet if you search (probably false).

Based on existing non-crossgen games you're probably looking at GTX460-660 minimum, 670-770 recommended.

Also, bat-mite.

My 7970 might be alright for 30FPS, then. Though I might switch to nVidia since most games are optimized for them.

Nope. The pre-order image says
"Play as the ruthless vigilante in the exclusive story pack".
I have no idea how much of this needs to be spoiler tagged :p

It's a great trailer, for sure, but I still havn't been wowed by the gameplay.

I think I got burnt out on City and Origins, which I enjoyed at the time, but the fighting mechanic does get a bit old, the AI isn't overly impressive, and the allure of an open-world batman wore off, making me realize how barren they are compared to other open-world games.

Now it's finally next-gen and it's open-world Gotham (without being in a 'jailed' city), but I'm not too impressed. They are pushing the story so hard, I'm worried there won't be side-missions or much to do. I'd love to see some meaningful interaction with pedestrians.
The bat mobile implementation could be awesome but sort of looks akin to a twister-medal lite, and I am pretty tired of the fighting mechanics in these games.

I guess I'll have to wait and see, but I guess I had higher expectations of a next-generation open batman.

Hate to rain on the parade, I do remain optimistic.

Because they wanted to name this game "Batman: City of Terror" but then the marketing department said "No it needs to have Arkham in the title or people won't know that this is a sequel" so they renamed Red Hood "Arkham Knight".

Batman: Arkham Hood

Arkham Knight him/herelf is, the person in the suit is another matter

That sounds like the ultimate cop out. I think it's unlikely they would go to this much effort to obfuscate such an obvious character reveal like Todd. I think Rocksteady genuinely does want to leave their mark on the universe by creating a brand-new character.

Batman AK is a Nvidia sponsored game if that matters to you. I think your 7970 will do fine but 60fps at console settings is perhaps too much to ask.
Considering the scope and visual richness it's going to be CPU intensive as well.

I don't pretend to know what the game will ask for in terms of hardware but a 2500k as minimum specs would not shock me.

Look at these ignorant pieces of monkey dung. Gotham is theirs. I wasn't aware Gotham is for sale. Can you just buy Gotham? Is it really worth owning when it's basically filled with crap? What do you get for owning Gotham? What if Superman decides to show up because you made it yours and kills you, because he's gone crazy in the head after Man of Steel? Batman isn't going to be there to tell him to go away if he's dead.

They need to think things through a little bit more. This is shallow, and unbecoming of criminal masterminds. And Penguin needs to lose some damn weight. Stop bringing the team down fatboy.

Oh shit John Noble. Oh shit. I had no clue he was lending his voice to the game. His voice has always been a great villain voice.

My guess is that its an attempt to tell the Arkham version of that story. The Arkham games have always been really sketchy about what it does/doesnt accept from the traditional lore. Like AC was the first time Arkham Batman encounters with Strange.

The reason I dont think its just some random guy is that the Arkham Knight has some incredible resources at his disposal. Hes a highly trained guy in a batsuit replica and he commands an army that includes drone tanks and helicopters. Thats why I think Damien makes the most sense, the LoS connectIon would give him those resources and the AK's motive seems almost identical with what Ras/Strange.

Haha that'd be a great end to the game. MoS Supes just flies in, destroys all the buildings, snaps Scarecrow's fucking neck, and then says "I saved Gotham! You're welcome, Bruce."

And it's actually a fear toxin hallucination

Roger Craig Smith is his name, and I agree 100%.

I was going to say the same and I thought I would be burned alive for saying that.

I loved Origins Batman, and if it really is The Negotiator then holy shit.

I need more of that please, as much as I love Conroy through that entire trailer I was thinking Origins guy would've done a fantastic job. Dude has like three levels with a great of amount of depth, there's Detective Bats, Agressive/threatening Bats, and Angry Bats but he'll interchange some of both sides of Batman's personality at times and it just gives off this solid impression of a dynamic performance.

Just realized the scars were Catwoman's doing in AC.This is an awesome continuity detail.

Still hoping the Cat's in the game.

That's why they need to think about this.

We have a psychopath on the loose, and people think he's a hero. You kill Batman. Great, what now? What's stopping Supercrazy from coming to your neck of the woods, and actually doing a little more than just trying to seduce Bruce Wayne? You done fucked up now, haven't you?

It's game over. You're dead. You're going to die. It's everybody. They're going to die.

I don't know why, but he reminds me of Clint Eastwood at that angle.

Also, does anyone think a single 980 will do for this? Man I can't to push my system, hopefully I can get more ram soon, as it is between Physical and VRAM I have a split 8gb roughly. So far it works fine, but I need to get a set of 4gb sticks soon...

Can't wait for this and Witcher 3, and MGSV:TPP on PC, it's a wonderful year of PC games and hopefully great to fantastic final builds when it comes to performance.

Will it do? Of course. Will it run every setting at highest with PhysX at max, supersampling and 60fps? Probably not. Keep in mind the game runs on the Xbox One and PS4. A 980 is several times more powerful than the PS4's GPU and if you've got a good CPU you're probably running circles around them there too. Barring some specific compatibility quirk, or a poorly optimized game that runs poorly regardless of hardware, you should be able to play it *extremely* well.

If you hear some of the AK's dialogue, his speaking manner sounds similar to Jason in Under the red hood.

Not to mention it was his first time hearing about the

Looks excellent and I'm very excited to play. Typically Batman, but the formula is enjoyable so whatever. I'm just hoping the open world->dungeon formula combined with the narrative is a better paced this time around, as City faltered a little bit there.

I'm also probably in the minority who thought Origins was a pretty great game too.

I should put myself on media blackout for this game, but I can't help myself! Also...

Can't fool me, Rocksteady. That isn't Scarecrow. That's Hugo Strange. Ra's isn't dead either, and he's financing Arkham Knight's operations. Arkham Knight is actually Bruce, and you are actually playing as the Joker, who was reanimated in the Lazarus Pit, and brainwashed with drugs to think he's Batman.

Heh...

I think origins had better pacing and an overall better plot than city (city was terrible in terms of plot), but that games world design felt uninspired.

A very suspect post with Superman in it. Perhaps I just need to play TLOU MP to reassess.

Damn, looks like the city took a noticeable hit compared to past footage both in texture quality and AA. I think even the character models took a hit. Sadness.

I can agree with that. City's, err, city benefits from exceptional structure cohesive with the gliding mechanic. It's just the right size and there's always an edge or building to grapple on to, keeping flight momentum. Origins is two halves, the first a carbon copy of City with forgettable alterations, the other half emphasising vertical scale but in turn significantly more cumbersome to fly around. I actually really liked the snowy Christmas setting, and felt the city as a whole had a lot of mood, but that second half just wasn't as memorable (in terms of vistas and iconic locations) and the first half being a copy makes it inherently less impactful.

Story/pacing I agree with for sure. I've said it before, but I think Origins is a bit misunderstood, or I should say poorly marketed from the get-go. The Asylum -> City arc is just as much about The Joker as it is Batman; the narrative focuses (if unoriginal) on the relationship between Batman and Joker. I suspect from the very beginning Origins was supposed to be exactly that; an origin story for the two and their relationship, due to its importance to Rocksteady's plot. And that inherently is not a bad idea at all, nor was it poorly executed. It makes a lot of sense.

Unfortunately they chose to market it as not that but instead an Origin story just for Batman, revolving around a fresh antagonist. They got people excited for the wrong reasons, the story never intending to deliver on them. I know they kinda needed it for the twist, but it just hurt the twist in the process, especially given the similarities to City (even if the twist here made more sense).

So yeah, I think narratively Origins is better than City, makes more sense than City, and as an isolated incident is very well rounded and envisioned. But because of how they marketed and sold the narrative, and similarity to its predecessor, it ended up faltering.

Ugh, I'm so hyped but I hate the amount of DLC I know the game will have based on City and Origins. I've waited for the complete editions for both games...but I don't know if I'll be able to do so for this.

Will it have a season pass? I'll feel better getting it at launch if there's a season pass I can buy at half price down the line when it goes on sale rather than hoping that every single piece of DLC goes on sale all at once at some point later on.

I'm glad they have THE voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy back voicing the Dark Knight. I'm also hoping for the return of The Joker. It will serve as a fitting end to the best Super Hero video game trilogy ever.
