Official Batman: Arkham Knight Trailer – “Gotham is Mine”

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
How is this game looking so good? It's using a modified Unreal Engine 3, so I'm quite puzzled how it looks fantastic.

Well it's next-gen only (yes I still say next-gen)

and while the character models look amazing, the city itself doesn't look so hot here.

why is that and whom do you predict?

The batmobile seems to be a central mechanic and the batmobile is kinda exclusive to Batman himself.

There'll be a scene where Robin is moping around the Batcave because he feels like he doesn't get enough freedom and responsibility, then Batman says "Hey," and tosses him the keys to the Batmobile.

interesting, up until this trailer i thought that new villain was the lead, the "dark" batman or whatever (forgive my ignorance)

didnt realize scarecrow was in charge - but that works

I feel like this game is gonna do a bait and switch and have us playing as someone else.

Maybe in some scenes, but not the entire game. Or people would be pissed that they used "Become the Batman" as a tagline.

IIRC Doesn't Robin have his own motorcycle? Isn't the batmobile heavily encrypted against anyone who isn't Batman

I am really rusty on my batman lore

IIRC, Tim and to a lesser extent Jason both have the ability to operate the Batmobile by hacking/shitty spying etc. Kids.

Yeah, become the batman, as in become the new batman. Cause the old one's gone bonkers.

Could happen. I don't think it will though. I still think AK is Nightwing based on that interview mention way back that may very well be a mistake but such conjecture is at least slightly more than baseless speculation. That or its gonna be Batman: Fight Club, only cause I want it to be.

Trailer got me HYPED!

Cannot wait! Also am I the only one who can't see the resemblance between Riddler and Tennant?

Hmm should I re install Origins? It's the only one I haven't finished I have it on Steam along with AA and AC I remember starting Origins and that was it should I replay or just re install AC?

Looks incredible. Man those faces looked crazy. Day 1 on PC for sure. Really need to get around to playing Origins, reception on GAF actually made the game sound quite good.

The Chemical Plant gameplay demo looked really underwhelming tbh.

The char designs in this trailer look next gen though so if they are anything to go by the game is gonna look great.

My favorite theory thus far is Arkham Knight is
Bruce, and you have been playing as Hush for a large portion of the game
I think I was the first one to suggest this idea in Various Threads and I still believe it. It fits in with how they're making the promotional material
Become the Batman? As in, this "Batman" wasn't Batman before?
as well as the fact that he's a new character created for the intent of a dramatic reveal. You can't get New, Dramatic, expect it to be a BIG twist and have it be anyone but
Bruce in the suit.

Yikes! The characters models and the art looks great, but the city looks dreadful. I hope it's not do to the limitations of Unreal Engine 3.

I'm hoping the city in Arkham Knight feels "alive" and not dead and nonexistent like Arkham City.

Yeah the character models are a big improvement. Before, everyone looked like they were straight out of Gears of War, now they look more human (still ridiculous next to real life, but pretty good for a video game).

WHAT THE.......IT'S M...................HOLY FUCKING SHIT................

LIKE, when I saw image of Croc from Aslyum, with the art design, it seems like adult content would be the right choice considering he could have easily torn those guards to shreds....holy fuck, a M rated Batman...we really finally made it...

It's a multiplatform game so the answer can only be yes. We know the PC version will have a range of exclusive effects on top of enhanced ones but that does not mean the PC is not "comparable" to console versions.

'Ben' changed jobs again?

*Just saw the Parks and Rec finale a few hours ago. :p

Will it do? Of course. Will it run every setting at highest with PhysX at max, supersampling and 60fps? Probably not. Keep in mind the game runs on the Xbox One and PS4. A 980 is several times more powerful than the PS4's GPU and if you've got a good CPU you're probably running circles around them there too. Barring some specific compatibility quirk, or a poorly optimized game that runs poorly regardless of hardware, you should be able to play it *extremely* well.

Good point, I never supersample and I typically only need 60FPS for most shooters and fast action games. I played Arkham City on my 580 at 30FPS locked(otherwise it would be too variable) just to have all the goodies on, and it was totally worth it.

Hmm, It'll be interesting to see how the PC version ends up as that is what I am buying.

That looks compressed to shit.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's on UE4.

EDIT: It is not. I was always led to believe it was UE4 for some reason but it is in fact UE3. You were right.

Yeah that image is way compressed, it doesnt look like that in the actual video. The game is running is UE3 though, RS said its more like 3.5 with all the modifications theyve made.

Rocksteady has modified Unreal Engine 3 rather extensively. That's how it looks as good as it does. That said, the engine has limits. Usually shows in the draw distance \ LOD.

Man, I love how fucking dark and scary this game looks. Like, Origins, Asylum, and City were all really dark and nasty in their own ways.

But this looks borderline apocalyptic. Like, all bets are off, everyone's finally just gone fully unhinged.

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
Now thats some f'd up shit.
Would you prefer to see the ps4 version which reportedly had framerate issues? There's nothing fucked up about that, like at all.

That shot looks way better in motion because you can see all the rain and effects. And it looks fantastic, it's not only denser but it's really detailed. Exactly what i'd expect from a next gen rendition Gotham

This is what happens when you remove Joker from the equation. Despite everything, he was the one person that kept Batman and the evil of Gotham in check with his chaotic mind and crimes. He was, out of everyone, the unrivaled archenemy of Batman, a worshiped evil, that could easily draw thugs to his side as evidenced in all the games and could effectively control the underworld of Gotham. He also was Batman's greatest protection. As long as the Joker was alive, he saw to it that he and only he could be the one that finally did in Batman. He more than likely scared or intimidated every other villain from having the last laugh.

Once you take him out however, everything changes. Batman no longer has an enemy of that level to face. Every criminal in Gotham no longer is under control by madness or chaos. Batman's rogues actually start thinking for once and realize that without the Joker, there's literally no one stopping them from killing Batman. They can effectively team up, and destroy Batman and Gotham once and for all. That is, if they don't kill each other first.
