FTFY
When I pay full price for a new game, I like it to be as new and unique as possible, as long as the quality of design is there (and with Street Fighter, it always is).
If you want SF2 characters, try:
SF2
SSF2
SSF2T
SFA3
SF4
SSF4
SSF4AE
USSF4
There's enough gameplay there to last you 100 years, so knock yourself out. But don't assume the rest of us should be dragged down into rehash hell with you.
As for the sales bit, ask casuals what they think of the SF5 trailer, I'd almost guarantee they say it looks like SF4 and "why bother purchasing when 6 months later you'll get Super Duper SF5 Alpha Edition?" ...know why it looks like SF4 to them? Ryu, Chun Li, same moves, new coat of paint.
The truth is, if Capcom wants the game to sell, they will need to diverge once again. The myth of SF3 failing because of the roster is crazy, arcades were dead and the barrier to entry was huge. If you didn't call an arcade your 2nd home in the late 90s/early 2000's you weren't going to be able to walk in and steal more than a single round against an average 3s player.
Capcom needs to do what they attempted with SF3; make it more streets and less Saturday-morning-cartoony. Appeal to the urban youth, they're the ones who actually buy multimedia en masse. Make relateable characters and ditch the corny and at times offensive stereotypes. You could get away with that shit in the early 90s, it's stupid now.
