Uncharted 4 delayed to Spring 2016

sucks for crystal dynamics, they took microsofts blood money for nothing and alienated their biggest fanbase in the process

oh well, I don't care too much, the destiny expansion pack will hold me over

Mad respect for Sony after this decision, though. I can't imagine what a difficult choice it must have been to delay a game like this, even if by only a few months. To not rush it out for the holiday shows the faith they have in ND.

ND probably have the most power as a owed studio in the industry right now. They can do whatever they want.

They did it with every single one of their retail release except for Killzone and Knack.

Edit: Forgot about the yearly MLB games.

Just read the comment section on IGN. Lost a few brain cells.

I'll gladly have this delay if it results in a great game like The Last of Us did. The 2015 exclusive line-up is still amazing for me and most on here. They do need a big marketing title though. I'm hyped beyond belief for Persona 5 and the digital-only games like The Tomorrow Children but the sales will hurt if Microsoft runs ads for Forza 6, Halo 5 and Tomb Raider in the US while Sony runs ads for those types of games. The average console buyer at that time of year won't factor other types of games and so won't factor PS4's library and its quantity, diversity and quality.

Maybe they don't care much though as they'll still win the holidays in EU and JP regardless and can market the coming of Uncharted 4 and Morpheus during the holidays for NA.

Dragon Quest Heroes is a pretty damn big game in my book, and one that I think Sony should push. I'm more hyped for it than I am Halo 5.

Delaying this early means there wasn't a chance in hell it was coming this year or they wouldn't have announced the delay so early. It's not like it's August or September right now and they delayed last minute.

I'm expecting Arkham Knight to do gangbusters with it's release slot and I anticipate a similar release date for Uncharted 4.

As of now, nothing.

He didn't ask what someone prefers. Uncharted 4 could pull Halo 5 numbers, with it gone, what fills in that spot that's that big?

All the other Mega Third party titles?

Considering PS4 is the market leader Im sure that 3rd party titles will pull great numbers over competitor counterparts

Its last gen all over again except PS4 = 360

A bit disappointed it's not dropping this year but I want it to be as good as it deserves to be and there's plenty of games this year so I'll survive.

Oh well. Release it when it's done, ND.

It's a regular ass uncharted with an extra rope. Nothing ambitious about it.

Also your brother is evil. Can see that from a mile away.

Here is your reply.

Not really - in the end the 360 was a US-first console and thanks to global presence the PS3 ended up outselling it (by a hair, IIRC)

The One is still a US-first console, and I don't expect it to flip the tables mid-gen like the PS3 did.

If it ends up looking and playing like that demo, they can take all the time they want.

Wonder if Rise of the Tomb Raider gets delayed now.

I'd rather them take tie,e and get it right. I have plenty to play on ps4, vita and 3DS anyway.

How is this good? It's good if it makes for a better game, but definitely not good from a marketing perspective.

Most of us consumers don't really care about marketing or how many units the PS4 sells in December. We only have to wait a few extra months for the game and it means we get a better product. Yeah it sucks we won't have it on Christmas but I'm not that upset with delays anymore after playing so many broken and unfinished titles lately.

Other than Bloodborne just coming out of nowhere and releasing on track if off by a month, and perhaps Infamous Second Son, it feels like absolutely everything else first party has gone a bit hugely off course for PS4.

Other than Golden Abyss in the west, all other Uncharted's released in that holiday zone as well. Troubled.

ND themselves had said they don't want a repeat of rushing UC3 so this delay shouldn't be a big surprised. Also after the Last of us they know that their games can sell in spring.

The Last of Us was delayed six months as well. Relax, dude.

If you don't care for shooters or Halo? A lot of games.

Plenty of people don't care for Uncharted either so this delay has no effect on them.

I am not talking about personal preference. I am talking about an exclusive that carries that same sort of weight. Whether you like Halo or not, it is and will be a huge deal. Just like Uncharted.

????

Its already hit 20 million and climbing

Its the New 360 from a Market standpoint. Xbox One will keep chipping away like the Ps3 did

PC will remain the same as it always has... as will Nintendo

If you really thought this game was coming out this fall, you've been fooled.
It was clear this game needed more love from the demo footage we saw last year.

I wanted a great game in November so it sucks for me. MSGV might be the only retail game I buy in the second half of 2015.

It is the best decision for the game indeed, but they still are left with a huge hole to fill and they have to deal with that.
We'll see at E3 what kind of surprises they have in store if any.
We might see things getting rescheduled (Tearaway and Until Dawn) and other games being announced with a release date for that period (right now the R&C reboot seems the most likely candidate).
The fact they're announcing a delay so early might be a good sign that they are prepared to take the hit otherwise they would have tried to speed up the development and take a final decision later this year at the end of summer.

you make a really good point here

I would consider steam machines the real global challenger but I feel its fragmentation will work against it despite how well Steam OS mitigates accessibility issues

Not without a price-drop, and definitely not against a console with Halo 5.

I don't see them selling much worse, if at all, even if they stayed the course price-wise after Halo 5 drops. The narrative has basically been written for this generation, MS pretty much has to throw in the kitchen sink to move consoles at the pace ps4 is on. I wonder how much 'selling power' Halo has at this point. It's obviously still a big name, but the series' hype peaked between Halo 2 and 3.

It is always funny to read people saying that delays are good, just for convenience.

Dont get me wrong, I agree that developers should take their time as needed. But a DELAY is never good news, and neither means a necessarily good game.

Everyone knows about third-party. Just wondering what Sony has planned for this holiday now that its heavy-hitter is 2016. And I don't have numbers for which console sells the most copies of current gen games world wide. I only know XB1 version usually outsells PS4 version in NA because it's shown every month in NPD.

Continued to be unimpressed with Sony WWS management.

They've already ceded 2015 holiday season to MS.

No way can they compete with TR, F6 and H5.

I think people are overselling the power of Halo 5.

With Destiny capturing the mass market crowd and the One owners getting burned out from MCC... not to mention all the other shooters around....

It just feels like Halo 5 is launching into a market of fatigue unless it proves to be really disruptive.... and it totally could be..

It is building off of Halo4 which wasn't overly disruptive for the series but it does seem like 343 recognizes that....

Releasing a rushed and broken game isn't good for marketing perspective though. While it can dispel the concern that PS4 has no Fall line-up, it will eventually result in damaging Sony and ND's reputation in long-term if the game is shipped with serious issue in both technical and game design. So yeah, I think delaying an unfinished game is a wise decision.
