Yeah, just grab some cheap games if you don't see any better deals than that for cases. You can probably find some annual sports games or something for a buck or less.

When I ordered mine I got a couple 2-disc ones and 5 normal ones for like $8, including shipping.

Some cheap used games? Where?
Because if I go to the stores here, they don't even have Gamecube games, and all the boxes are ruined by stickers.

Can't speak for elsewhere but you probably aren't find much locally in most places, unless you have a noteworthy mom & pop game shop or something around.

Online is another story though. Does look like GC games are a bit more expensive than I estimated, but on eBay (US) there are some GC game lots that come out to under $2 per game(/case), some pretty close to $1.

But I also have to pay for shipment to get it to Denmark.
 
Something like goo gone should work fine on plastic. What went wrong for you?

I order stuff from eBay all the time, the shipping isn't too bad, particularly in bulk.
 
I was actually thinking you could replace eBay with whatever a Danish equivalent would be, a bundle of shovelware shouldn't be too expensive anywhere. GC was a lot more popular in NA than elsewhere so I guess prices might be a little higher?

Oh, we have a Danish eBay here, and DBA.

Let me correct myself, I didn't use goo gone (I don't know what it is?), but I used Alcohol 93%, and it left a white spot on the plastic.

Goo gone removes sticker residue. Typically you wanna avoid rubbing a hard cleaner on a label. So alcohol is one of the no-nos.

I take out the disc, cover insert, manual and all paper. Then I put some De-Solv-It on a paper towel and press it against the sticky stuff for a a minute or so to loosen it up. Then you just wipe it away. If it still feels oily I usually get a damp cloth and wipe it up a bit more, then I put it in the hot water cupboard to dry fully before putting the insert and manuals and disc back in.

It looks like it's mostly in New Zealand, Australia, and the UK but I wouldn't be surprised if there was something similar where you are.
 
You can use oil to break down the adhesive in stickers, even baby oil or cooking oil works. I have even used peanut butter in the past to remove adhesive from plastic just never try it on anything like card as the oil will stain but on plastic or glass it's totally fine.

Try and peel off most of the sticker to expose the residue layer then dab a large amount of oil onto the adhesive but not so much that it runs everywhere, this is why i used peanut butter as it stays where you put it. Now leave it on for an hour or so then go back and wipe it off you'll find the adhesive residue comes away easily as the oil breaks it down. You may need to repeat the steps for stuborn stickers but i have yet to find one that wouldn't come off.

Just remember after your done to get a soapy cloth and wipe it over to remove all traces of the oil as the last thing you want is to put your sleeve back in the case and have a oil spot stain it.

$12 haul today from Goodwill. Almost never find good shit at Goodwill, usually just sports games (which they hilariously think are worth up to $10 judging by their weird pricing). So I was thrilled.

The way I go about is that I go to used game stores, eBay job lots, car boot sales, charity shops etc and buy all the FIFA/shitty games. I can buy them for around 50p/£1 each. I take the sleeve, manual and disc out and either: 1) throw 'em in the bin or 2) give them to people who might be interested. Funnily enough I sent FIFA 2002 and 2003 to someone in America on GAF who wanted them.

The point being you don't have to spend a lot of money getting cases. I bought a Twilight Princess with all of the inserts, a perfect disc and sleeve, but the cases was a it dirty. So I swapped it out.
*Don't tell anyone that my Twilight Princess is actually in a FIFA 2002 case.

But yeah, saves you a lot of money and those FIFA games actually have a use for once.

Good to hear you had success with it, yeah cooking oil tends to run all over the place. Smooth peanut butter is a lot better as it just sits there and a bit easier to get off without it coating the entire case (crunchy works too but you obviously get bits on the case hehe), it's a weird thing to use but i was amazed when i tried it and it worked sometimes it's amazing what you can find laying around at home that works. Saves having to spend money on a specific products although those are probably a bit faster working than oil.

The only rule is never use oil on anything porous as it will seep in and stain but on plastics and glass it's fine.

Why are you guys punishing yourselves? Just use Un-Du. I've been using it for year and it's good even to take stickers off OLD, sealed games.
 
Don't live in USA so that product is no good to me as they don't ship abroad, oil is easily found in nearly every home so no extra expense needed and it works fine.

However a dedicated product will probably work faster.

Ahhh. I'm sure there is an equivalent in your country (goo gone is the same thing). I have always found it easily at an arts & craft store (along with alternatives). Do you have any near by?
 
Nice job on cubivore and gotcha force, those two are definately on the expensive side. Also, how are lost kingdoms 1 and 2? Always had an interest in those 2 games, but ultimately held off because media found them to repetetive.

I only played the first but that one is quite fun.

When I first bought it at launch I was severely dissapointed. I had not read any reviews, I just knew this was the first RPG to launch on GameCube so I had to have it. When playing it, it was... unlike any RPG I had played up until then and just moved on to Resident Evil and Super Mario Sunshine.

I played it some years later and it is quite fun if you know what you're in for. The story, music and graphics are completely forgettable but the card battle system is really fun if you don't mind investing in it.

Yeah, I've wanted it for the longest time. Only time I ever saw it at a store was in gamestop about 6-7 years ago for $60 used. Should have bought it then, definitely an unique game.

Always wanted Cubivore but never did buy it, probably the only GameCube game I didn't get and wanted back when the GameCube was current. I always hated having to give my brother back his copy of Gotcha Force when I borrowed it from him, so I figured it was time to buy it. Shame he wouldn't take double what he paid for it!

The Lost Kingdoms games are pretty fun, card system certainly is the only stand out part of them though. Had them both but traded them in a long time ago, decided to get Lost Kingdoms 2 for the nostalgia mostly. Me and my brother have been talking about it recently and both wanted to replay it.
 
Thanks for the replys. So an average rpg with an interesting battle system. I'll keep my eyes out for them, and if the price is right (damn shipping costs, I am from Europe and collect us games) I will give them a spin. The cube's selection of rpg's is rather limited anyway.

It's nothing but easy marketing on their side. You got collectibles or anything of value, give it directly to someone or an actual charity who can use it.

Speaking of Goodwill, used the money I got from selling duplicate games from my collection that I've gotten at Goodwill and other thrift stores. Really fear the day that the Goodwills around me figure out that video games are worth more than what they're selling them for. Really surprised they haven't, besides the occasional NES game everything is $5 at most Goodwills around here. Actually have one nearby that prices older games for less.

Seems a bit high but the prices keep trending up and there just isn't many chances to pick them up. It may end up being a good deal sooner, rather than later. Especially Gotcha Force which is likely to be the highest pricec game on the system excluding Pokemon Box (not really a game) and the Zelda/Metroid Combo discs (2 of the last expensive games I still need).

I recently picked both Gotcha Force and Cubivore up since I don't see them getting any cheaper in the near future and likrly will continue to increase as Gamecube Collecting continues to gain in popularity. It feels great to lock down those 2 gems.

I got a lot of my hard to find GC and PS2 titles at a local Pawn Shop for $1-2. Unfortunately the frequency those show up has decreased dramatically in the last 6-12 months, especially Gamecube. Just curious if you, or anyone else, has noticed a similar trend at Goodwill and anywhere else you frequent for GC games in the wild?

Was definitely more than what I wanted to pay, but after watching Ebay for about a month and seeing those two games in worse shape go for more I figured it was about as good as deal I was going to get. Didn't want to risk waiting longer to only see them keep climbing in price.

As far as gamecube games in the wild, hard to say around here. Over the past few years it seems like I'll find some decent ones every couple of months and then it will be awhile and then I'll find some more. Picked up Melee, Twilight Princess and The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition within the past couple months and those would probably be the best Gamecube games I've found deal wise.

I bought, then immediately sold Cubivore for $50 on both counts just last year...

Game is mediocre.

Goodwill is very disjointed as far as what they do with product from store to store or even from one staff member to another. In one area you'll have a supervisor separate some games or other products to sell at a premium. In another area, similar items are siting on the shelves, waiting to be a lucky find for someone. In another area, someone is recycling/destroying CIB video games and perfectly functional game consoles.

Yeah, it may be disappointing for some, but this is accurate. Goodwill is NOT there to provide you with video games for $2 a pop. They're there to help people with the proceeds they make. If they can sell that game for like $30, all the power to them.

And, in general, if anyone is looking to get into retro gaming... I would say that 'now' is ALWAYS the time to buy. A lot of people like to sort of say, "No, now is the time to buy Xbox games because they're still going for cheap", and as true as that may be, that completely misses MY point.

Just go to price charting and look at the graph for any given game. The prices are going up, and up, and up, and it's never going to change. Games will only CONTINUE to increase in price as demand rises. There may be minor dips throughout any given year, but the 'big picture' is always going to be 'wait longer, pay more'.

Many of us missed the boat at being able to pick up real gems for a steal at yard sales or good will. But that's our fault, really.

Everything you said is 100% true, look at SNES and Sega Saturn for example.
